Chapter 28 - Chapter Twenty-Five: Whispers of the Walls

Rara tried with all her might to break out of her prison. The problem wasn't so much the physical materials but the watchful fire spirit prepared to mend anything she broke.

She tried prying them open, melting them, blasting them with her most intense heat. For each try, Ilor would clap.

"It is so interesting to study how one of the Heirs would try to break free of her own element," He snickered.

Her strength faded and she slid down the burning-hot wall and onto the floor.

"Round Two tomorrow my love," Ilor called out, "Prepare some nice surprises for me."

Rara sat defiantly until he was out of hearing range then she knelt to pray to her father. She could not tell if he could hear her or not. When she stopped she looked around in the darkness.

"My lady," A tiny voice echoed.

Rara looked up abruptly but saw no one.

"Where are you?" She whispered.

"You will never break free by force," The voice said urgently.

That's when Rara realized the voice spoke from the walls around her.

"He's using you," The voice urged.

Rara rolled her eyes, "Obviously."

"No, he's cataloguing your power."

Rara froze, she hadn't thought about it that way. She'd just revealed all her different fighting strategies.

"Not all of them," The voice whispered weakly, "I must go, stay strong Queen of Fire."

Rara shook her head trying to think. She'd tried to break out in every way she could think of…

Then it came to her.

The next morning Ilor came back. Rara repeated many of her fighting moves while he watched. Then at once she fell to the floor.

"I give up Ilor," She cried, "Please let me out. I want to be your queen."

She stayed on the floor heaving faked sobs.

Then she heard the creak of the door. Ilor crept toward her.

"So you finally understand who is the leader."

"Yes," She whimpered.

"Good," Ilor smiled slightly, he picked her up more gently than she'd expected.

That's when she leaned in to kiss him. He was surprised at first but then he leaned in. He could feel the warmth coming off of her skin.

Everything he'd been promised if he could contain her.

She held him there, carefully she traced his face with her hand.

She could tell her magic was working on him already. She may be the element of fire but she also was one of passion.
