Chapter 2 - The Judgement.

Chapter II

That statement made Elsa very happy. She quickly made way for her father so he could carry the naked man on his back. He did so, they began making their way to the carriage.

It was a quiet ride home, Elsa had a lot of questions to ask her father but she had to wait till they got home.

"Mr. Lucas has arrived." The butler announced their arrival.

"Welcome home papa." the ever enthusiastic Calhoun came out to greet his father but was halted in his tracks when his eyes met with the body of the naked man.

"Dad, who's that?"

"There's no time for questions now Cal." Mr. Lucas replied while making way to the drawing room.

"Mr. Jonas please get me some water, sugar, bandages and some warm clothes." Elsa's father was a retired nurse who had served at the old town hospital for 80 years. He was one of the best vampire nurses in the land so he knew his way around helping the injured man.

"Here they are sir." Mr. Jonas said while handing all the items to Mr. Lucas.

"Thank you, Jonas." Mr. Lucas said while taking in the items given to him.

After fixing him up, he turned to Elsa, Calhoun and Mr. Jonas and said

"No one should disturb him, let him rest tonight. Tomorrow we shall take him to the Council to ascertain more about him."

"Ok sir".

"Ok dad".

"Where is your mother?" Mr. Lucas asked Calhoun.

"Mama stepped out for a brief visit, she would return home later at night." He said to his father.

"Ok then."

"Good night everyone."

"Good night."

Apparently dinner was cancelled that night

Everyone retired to bed that night and woke up very early in the morning.

The house was bustling with activities as everyone wanted to know more about the stranger who had just graced the Lucas house.

They maids of the house occasionally sat down to gossip about the stranger in between their work hours but they were always reprimanded by the strict butler whenever he caught them slacking.

"Honey, has the man woken up?" Mrs. Lucas asked her husband, concern was easily discerned through her beautiful brown honey eyes.

"No dear, I will go check up on him at once."

Mr. Lucas said and got up to meet the stranger. When he got into the room where he had left him, he met the man fully awake and staring at the sun like he was meditating.

"Good morning, dear sir." the man greeted Mr. Lucas as soon as he acknowledged his presence.

"Good morning to you too, how are you?"

"I am fine, all thanks to you sir. Although I feel a bit of pain at my abdomen, I am still fine sir." the man told Mr. Lucas.

"It's nothing, the pain you feel at your abdomen is due to the stitching I did there last night. The pain would wear off soon."

"I would like to have a discussion with you. I would like to know who you are, where you're from and how did you get there yesterday."

I'd need to know these things before I take you to the council."

"Council?"

"Yee, the Council. They are the ruling body of this land. The highest authority too."

"I can't welcome a stranger into these lands without informing them off your presence." Mr Lucas told him.

Kane nodded his head, acknowledging all Mr. Lucas had told him before saying "My name is Kane. I am a man from the North. I was on a journey with my friends when we were attacked by wild beasts. Creatures I had never seen before." Kane told Mr. Lucas.

"What did this beast look like?" Mr. Lucas asked pressing for further information to satisfy his suspicion.

"It looked like a Wolf but it had the strength of man and it looked finely built too, unlike the regular wolves we have."

"Ah, I see. There's no problem Mr. Kane you don't have anything to worry about, the council would decide what would be done on this case. Please do get ready and come join us for breakfast before we leave to the Council."

"Ok sir, give me a minute." With that Mr. Lucas excused himself from the room and went to join his family on the table.

After a few minutes, Kane came down and had his breakfast.

He wasn't a vampire so he wasn't comfortable with the blood tea and raw half cooked meat so opted for fruits instead. The family understood this and granted him his wish.

After breakfast, Mr. Lucas and Kane got ready to leave.

"Please be safe out there honey." Mrs. Lucas said and pecked him.

"Bye dad, please come home quick." Calhoun said while Elsa held her father in a warm hug.

The coachman set route for the Council. The ride was rather quiet, the silence was actually comfortable.

Mr. Lucas was deliberating on how to approach the council lords and ladies to explain the situation on ground. Kane, on his part seemed rather undisturbed with a calm expression on his face.

Each man in his own world of thoughts. Soon enough the coach man announced that they had arrived at the Council. So Mr. Lucas and Kane went out of the carriage and proceeded into the building.

As they walked into the building, Kane was staring at every corner like he was trying to remember the place while Mr. Lucas looked around for Micah, the Council's receptionist.

"Ah there you are" Mr. Lucas said to Micah.

"Mr. Lucas, what a lovely surprise to see you, what brings you here and how may I help you." Micah said full of sweet smiles.

"I am here to meet with the lords and ladies of the council, I have a rather pressing issue to discuss with them."

"Is he with you?"

"Yes he is."

"Alright then, just you wait here while I go inform them of your presence." Micah said and then went upstairs to the council chambers.

*Knocks and enters*

"My lords,Mr. Lucas is here to meet with all of you. He says it is a rather pressing issue." He said and waited for a response.

A man who had a dark but powerful aura around him, seemingly the most powerful and also the most solitary amongst them spoke with an air of sovereignty, "Let them in."

His grey eyes which looked like ice was colder than snow and they looked like they lacked life I'm them. His jet black hair made him stand out like a devil. Adorned in Cesear's clothing, his well chiseled body made him look nothing less to a Greek god. His name was Lord Raiden, The head of the Council and king of the vampires.

Micah left to tell Mr. Lucas he was granted audience by the council.

"Lord Raiden has asked that you come into the chambers." Micah informer Mr. Lucas.

With that, Mr. Lucas and Kane made their way up to the council chambers.

Mr. Lucas opened the door and made his way into he chambers while Kane followed suit.

"Good morning, dear lords and ladies of the council." Mr. Lucas said with a bow and urged Kane to do so too.

"Good morning everyone." kane's short and cryptic greeting earned him furrowed brows from upset council lords.

Everyone was ready to cruxify Kane for his manner of greeting but when they turned to see Lord Raiden's reaction, they were met with a rather unfazed expression. It was usually hard telling what Lord Raiden was thinking about as he never showed his emotions, so they all decided to compose themselves.

"What brings you here and who is the man with you" Lord Raiden questioned Mr. Lucas.

Mr. Lucas then reiterated the events of yesterday, how he met Kane in the bush on his hunt for blood with Elsa and how he helped him and brought him to his house. The council lords all listened to what Mr. Lucas had said and digested every piece of information while occasionally sipping on their blood wine.

"Who are you and where do you come from." Lord Raiden asked Kane.

"My name is Kane and I am from the North." Kane replied.

"How did you find yourself in Mythville?"

"I was on a journey with my friends when we were attacked by a werewolf".

"I see, were you bitten by the were?"

"No my Lord"

"We would have to carry out some tests on you to prove that."

Lord Raiden called for the Council's doctor to come and carry out a test on kane. After a rigorous serie of tests, he was found clean.

"Are you human?" Lord Raiden asked.

"Yes I am."

Lord Raiden didn't seem to reply his answer and then looked away.

After several minutes, the council decided to let Kane live with Mr. Lucas and his family until they figure out what to do with him.

Mr. Lucas and kane thanked them and bade them farewell. As they approached the door of the chambers to exit, like thunder Lord Raiden said to Kane "if for anything, I know you are not human, you are not a vampire either and you don't smell like a Wolf. I will find out who you are but until then be a good boy. I have my eyes on you!"

His voice sent chills down the spine of everyone and Mr. Lucas made a mental note to be wary of Kane.

That was how Kane began living with the Lucas' in Mythville.
