Chereads / The Were's Inferno / Chapter 4 - The Needed Spark

Chapter 4 - The Needed Spark

Chapter IV

Without thinking she ran out of the compound when she realized that she was being accompanied by werewolves chasing her.

She was the weakest in the land so she couldn't last long while running. She had to deeply connect with her vampire strength which sustained her during her marathon until she noticed they weren't after her anymore before she slowed down.

The only thing that could be heard were her staggering breath intakes and the thudding of her heart.

She was petrified to her marrows as she so desperately tried to find her way through what now looked like a maze with no end.

She had run without looking back or looking forward, she ran to wherever had an escape route away from the rogue weres chasing her.

Her beige dress was all messed up and her beautiful blonde hair disheveled.

She couldn't care less about her looks especially now her Adrenaline rush began wearing off

She couldn't phantom why those rogue Weres were after her life.

"Who did this to me?"

"Could they be the ones who killed my parents?" She thought to herself.

She was very sure those Weres were sent by someone to attack her. She then heard movement of twigs behind her but she ignored them thinking them to be squirrel movements but soon they developed into running footsteps and she in turn did not hesitate to take to her heels, she ran without looking back. While running she didn't notice a log of wood Infront of her.

"Ouch!" She came tripping, she was in so much as she had just sprained her ankle.

She couldn't allow me herself die now and definitely not here, she was in a whole lot of panic and pain but her train of woes were halted in track as she soon heard cacklings before her. She looked up to the face of a familiar figure who smiled and then said

"Did you really think you could run from me, huh? Elsa?" The figure before her questioned. It seems she couldn't find her voice, she was blatantly shocked to her marrows.

"Kane? I can't believe this. I must be dreaming, I can't be true. I trusted him with my everything, so he killed my family?"

The voice in her head rang repeatedly. She refused to believe this.

But then suddenly gunshots were heard and before I knew what else was happening, he had disappeared. Thanking her stars for keeping her, she delved into a dilemma

"So Kane killed my parents, after everything we did for him?"

It seems king Raiden was right.

She broke down crying. Large tears smeared her beautiful face.

Her family got annihilated in a single day, she had no chance to say goodbye to them at least, for the last time.

She was a mess and her thoughts were all jumbled. After what seemed like hours, she got up, dusted herself and said to herself.

Her throat was dry and patchy, she needed water but she was determined to go to the palace.

"I must report this to the palace" She thought to herself, she needed some time to cool off and recover from what she just saw. She had been scarred for life. She was a total mess as she couldn't even think straight, she sat down for a while to cry before slowly making her way out of the maze to the palace.

After a very long while trying to navigate herself out of the maze. She finally came out of it and began making her way to the palace. The guards and maids were surprised to see her because she had just left the palace earlier. But now she looked worse than disheveled.

She approached the guards and asked if she could meet with king Raiden but she was denied access as his majesty was not around.

"Lady Elsa, why are you here again? Why do you look so disheveled? A guard asked her.

"It's a very long story. Please I need to see his majesty." It wasn't hard to tell that all was not well with her because although she tried her best to compose herself she just couldn't help but quiver as visions of the gory incident flash before her eyes.

"I'm sorry Lady Elsa but his majesty is not in the palace at the moment." The guard said to her.

"But it it is too urgent, I suggest you meet the Council." The gaurd added.

She smiled and after a few seconds, she said

"Please can I have some water? I am very thirsty and my throat is dry."

"Yes. Tana, please get some drinking water for Lady Elsa." The guard said to a maid passing by and she nodded and went to fetch the water as requested.

The water was brought and handed over to Elsa, she thanked them and gulped it within seconds without allowing little drops escape through the side of her lips.

She couldn't meet king Raiden and she was asked to meet the Council. In her desperation, she could only exhale.

How could she tell the council lords and ladies all she had seen and heard.

She related best with king Raiden, although she was very scared of him, she was free with him and could express her thoughts freely when she was around him.

She thanked them finally and left for the council.

After a few minutes, she walked into council building, not much had changed except the fact that someone was now in charge of the council.

The council was usually dark and eerie because, the council lords and ladies were constantly feeding on human blood.

"Ahhhhhhhhh." She heard blood chilling screams a door away just before she got to the council building.

"They must be feasting on another human" she thought sadly before forcing a sweet smile to Micah as soon as she saw him, he was furiously typing away on his typewriter.

"Good evening Micah, I'm here to meet with the council"

"Do you have an appointment with them?",

"No, I don't. But I have to meet them right now because it's very very urgent."

After she said that he looked up to her through his Pilot's Frames in a skeptical manner.

"What is the matter, Elsa?" He asked her with worry laced in his voice as he noticed she wasn't in order. "I'm sorry I can't really talk about this."

"I just have to meet the Council." she said while trying so hard not to break down.

Everything around her in the council reminded her about her father, bringing back memories and all she wanted to do was cry.

"Oh my poor little one. Whatever you're going through or whatever is going on, just remember that it won't last long." He said.

If only he knew what was going on, he wouldn't have used those words but she couldn't blame him.

They walked through the eerie stairs to meet the Council,

"My Lords, Elsa the daughter of Lucas is here to meet with you, she claims to have sensitive information that she must divulge to the council first as it is very urgent." Micah announced her presence.

"What kind of information does she have?" She better have something good to make up for our feast interruption." The Council members chattered amongst themselves.

"Let her in at once!" Lord Ryan who was the new head of the Council and the most powerful amongst them said to Micah and without waiting for Micah to relay the message Elsa helped herself into the room.

"Good evening Council Lords And Ladies, the moon pack is about to evade Mythville and Kane is leading them." she said all at once almost running out of breath.

"Who is Kane? Lord Ryan asked her.

"Kane? The same young man that you brought to Mythville years ago claiming he was in despair and needed to be treated as he had sustained large injuries from weres?"

Lord Davies, an old time council lord questioned her with a hint of rage coming to play.

She knew it was going to come down to this but what she cared for most at this moment was the safety of her people, the vampires. She was already serving her punishment as her entire family was dead and gone. She didn't know if she was to tell them that or wait for the king himself to come.

"Y-ee-sss Lord Davies, it is him." She said almost trembling.

"He is their Alpha now." She continued.

"Is Kane the man who was permitted by king Raiden to live with you and your family?" Lord Ryan asked her.

"Yes, he is the one." She replied

" What you have done?!!!

"We welcomed in a stranger into our lands on account of your honesty. We showed him our way of life because we trusted that you trusted him and now he is coming to attack us?!" Lord Ryan had let all hell loose.

"I'm so sorry Lord Ryan, I honestly didn't know he was someone like this. I told my dad to help him because he looked like he actually needed help. Everything my dad told you about him that day was a reiteration of what he had told him and a part of my dad felt he was saying the truth. I was too young to understand."

"I am sorry." She pleaded.

The Council members didn't utter a word but she didn't miss their death glares. The ladies of the council looked at her like they wanted to feast on her. Like it was personal.

"You may leave thank you for the information, we send for you when we need you as soon as the king comes back."

Lord Ryan said and bid Elsa farewell.

"Lord Ryan?"

"Yes?"

"He killed my family too. He killed my family because he is a gay were that wanted to have his way with my brother but he refused. My father walked into the scene so he attacked them. He ripped my father's head off his body and tore my brother's body to pieces". Elsa said this time allowing the tears welled up in her eyes to fall.

"How did you know this?" Lord Ryan asked visibly shaken by her confession.

"A maid told me, just before she died."

"I am sorry, but you may leave now."

He dismissed her despite her shocking revelation because he didn't want to be seen as weak hearted. And she left.

"Micah get me the witches!!!" Lord Ryan said to Micah.

There was a widespread gasp in the room while she hurried to leave.

"Sir, you can't release the witches without the king's permission." Micah reasoned with him.

"Ok send word to the king on what just happened." Lord Ryan to Micah.

"I am just a receptionist my Lord. The king wouldn't like me delivering messages to him. Most especially sensitive messages like this." Micah said.

Although his true reason for not going was because he was afraid to death of the king.

Lord Ryan sensed the truth in what Micah said so he dismissed him.

"You may go."

"Thank you my Lord."

Elsa left the building with no idea of where to go but she knew she couldn't go home because home wasn't safe anymore!

She decided to leave to another town, a town where no one could find her.
