Chapter 44 - Chapter 44 - Entrance Ceremony [1]

A/N: I can go back to regular posting after Wednesday

The Awakened beastwoman smiled at me as she explain that I had in fact, mad it in. Honestly, I was a bit bummed out that my rank wouldn't be presented. And not only that, but I was exempted from the ranking system?

"So, do I get ranked... later on?"

She shook her head.

"Nah, not until any further notice anyways. Well, technically, you're going to be special admission rank 1, since there's no other special admission this year. But you won't be compared to others for now, you'd probably get pretty high up with raw strength. But, it wouldn't represent your true ability if we ranked you according to our regular criteria. We've had cases like you, people who have things like overwhelming output or downright terrfying bloodline abilities. But, because they're amateur fighters, they performed poorly and were given a rank that didn't befit them."

I nodded my head a little, I honestly wanted to see how they thought of me compared to everyone else here. But it was fine, so long as I got in, it didn't matter too much.

I looked at the rankings.

Theory Rank 1 - Arthur Valter, Combat Rank 1 - Arthur Valter.

I raised an eye brow in confusion, in the novel, although he did rank first for combat. In theory, he didn't rank first. He had ranked somewhere in the 20s.

'Weird. I know he's smart, but how the hell did guy rank first? The only thing that changed from the original story is my existence, but, that can't have made him smarter. Right?'

"Oh yeah, I was gonna ask. You're a Knight right? So you should know how to fight, at a basic level at least. So, why the hell are your moves so amateurish? You had some of the worst technique out of everyone here."

"I'm an amnseiac, I've not got any idea on how to really use a sword. My master didn't bother teaching me either."

Her eyes widened a little, before lightly smacking my back.

"Gotcha. I see what he's doing, and I sorta get it. You just move in whatever way you think is best, fighting on pure instinct. And, since your body's... more flexible per se, you can do more things. Like that whip thing you did, if you used a more orthodox martial art, you wouldn't really be able to make use of that ability. Anyways, get going, we have an entrance ceremony to get to. You'll be called up."

As I was about to speak, she spoke to everyone in the hall.

"Now that everyone who's been rejected has left, we're gonna have a little entrance ceremony. You'll get to meet the principal."

And with that, she dissapeared from my sight, without making a single sound or even leaving behind a gust of wind.

I was currently sat in the front row, we were in a different hall now. The hall had a stage, on the stage there were a few teachers. But, the one standing at forefront of them all was the principal.

In this world, there were things called 'combat classes.' They weren't exact, they were pretty much just estimations of power. There were... 10 or so, 10 being the weakest and 1 being the strongest or something like that. In any case, however many there were, people like Caelus and Adrienne were deemed as Combat Class 1 Awakened.

Combat Class 1, the requirement to be considered for that level was to be able to overthrow a country that did not have its own Combat Class 1 Awakened. Obviously, an Awakened who was not considered Combat Class 1 could never dare to oppose someone of that calibre, unless they happened to be a direct counter towards the Class 1. The difference between Class 1 and Class 2 was the greatest after all.

Now, the Principal? He was an entirely different monster to those two. He was ranked as a 'Class 0 Awakened.' That was because he basically broke the scale. His power was immense, and he was arguably the single strongest individual on this planet. Now there wasn't any real condition for Class 0, you were designated Class 0 if your power surpassed the limits of what the Class system could handle.

In the original story, when the Demon's began to flood into this world, he was one of the first of the main character's to die. That was because the Demon's viewed him as an immense threat.

The Demon's were split into 7 different clans and each clan represented a cardinal sin, each clan was ruled by a Lord, and they were ruled by their King. A Class 0 Awakened was at the very least capable of fighting evenly with a Lord. And, the principal killed... maybe 2 or 3 or Lords in the original story.

Now, Class 0 is a frightening level of strength, but all of Arthur's 'main' comrades reached that level of strength. Charlotte also has similar potential, and it goes without saying that I'll reach it.

Breaking me out of my thoughts, the principal spoke. He used Mana to amplify the sounds produced by his vocal chords.

"I'd like start this by welcoming you all to my Academy."

The principal was an older individual, in his 70s or 80s. He had a beard with greyed out hairs, his hair had also greyed out fully. His eyes were an almost eerie black, and he was a little taller than Arthur. His body looked almost frail, but his aura completely opposed his appearance.

Even an unawakened individual could tell that he was something that had taken a step beyond the bounds of what people considered normal.

He was the strongest creature I had ever seen in my life, and he was probably the strongest I'd ever see for a long time.
