Chapter 36 - Chapter 36 - Entrance Exam [7]

I looked at the man beside me. He was tall, incredibly so especially for our age. He had a mane of long, brilliant, white hair. His body held a surprising amount of muscle, making everyone around him seem small and his eyes were a striking gold. His presence was intimidating, he was being who seemed wield nothing but pure physical power along with a terrfying healing factor.

The man beside me.. I should know him. It can't have been possible for a beast like this to go unnoticed. He went toe to toe with me, a regressor when I wasn't really holding back. Although I'm not at the same level as I was before, surely... surely someone who can fight the me right now, the me who has over a century of experience... was famous.

Granted, even if I was a regressor with over a century of combat experience I only regressed just before our fight began. So, I'm more than a little disorientated. If we fought in a week, I'm confident I can win.

Even still, he's impressive. Incredibly impressive.

But, Reinhardt... Hyperius? The hell is the Hyperius family? I've never heard of... wait, no I have heard of the name Hyperius, but I only know of Gunther Hyperius. But the name Reinhardt... I don't know of anyone by that name.

'But, if I have a warrior of this calibre along with 'that' man... then maybe...'

Then, I looked down at the stadium. The two people fighting were Aubrey Elfrieda, the Elven Princess. She was a High Elf. She's someone who I absolutely need to survive. I needed her, along with people I worked with in the past along with Reinhardt and 'that' man if I want us to win.

'I need to get stronger, faster than before. The world cannot hold on for too much longer. The Demon's will invade earlier on than last time, and I cannot allow them to win again. If I can't win this time it's over for everyone.'

And so, resolving myself, I looked back at the match.

I watched from the stadium's seats my employer, Charlotte and the Elven Princess fought. The Elf had created a bow from the world tree, and once she had done that, an arrow formed as well. She notched the arrow into her bow, power gathered into her arrow and her bow as she drew it back. The air vibrated a little, and small rocks on the ground began to tremble as she unleashed the arrow.

Charlotte realised the danger immediately, and erected a thick wall of ice to protect herself. But the arrow pierced her wall of ice, and rushed towards her. And so, realising she couldn't stop the attack, she formed a tendril made of darkness and grabbed the arrow. The tendrils twisted and threw the arrow back at it's owner. Of course, the arrows power had been greatly diminished by her great wall of ice.

But the Elven Princess was able to stop her first arrow by firing a new one. The arrows met and knocked each other off course.

Arthur spoke as he watched the fight.

"Their efficency is gonna cause issues, their Mana Capacities are great. But, the human Princess isn't good at using her Ice Attribute Magic. And the Elf has the same issue when she fires her arrows. Her control over the World Tree is amazing, she doesn't expend too much more than what's needed when she calls upon it. And, the human Princess wields darkness as if it's a part of her, her efficiency and proficiency with it is incredible."

Then, the roots of the World Tree dug into the ground and coiled themselves around Charlotte's leg and the Elf fired a few arrows at her head. Each arrows was powerful, and capable of piercing Charlotte's defences.

In that moment, I thought Charlotte would die. There's no way for her to stop that many arrows when she couldn't move. And so, I Enhanced myself with Arcane Magic and got ready to move, I wasn't really thinking, my body mover on instinct. But Arthur put his hand infront of me, wanting to stop me.

"Move. I'm paid to protect her, you know?"

I said, getting very slightly annoyed at my oh so dear regressor, but he didn't reply. He just gestured for me to watch.

Then, Charlotte sank into her own shadow. The roots of the World Tree were no longer holding on to anything and the Elf appeared to be extremely confused.

But, Charlotte reappeared and rose from the Elf's shadow, and so she swung her at the Elf's neck.

'Ah. I underestimated her.'
