As Charlotte's sword rushed towards her opponent's neck, a referee intervened, stopping her sword with his hand. The Elf wasn't being restrained as it was obvious to her as well. It was obvious that she had lost.
After seeing her fight, assuming this was her at her best I was sure of something.
'I'm stronger than her, and that Elf. And, since I'm evenly matched with Arthur I'm probably a contender for being the strongest first year. Though, it's not like I'm too far ahead of either of those two Princesses.'
Then, the audience began to clap, the claps were loud and so were their cheers. They didn't do that for me and Arthur, which was fair enough.
'So... loud.'
Every time I healed, I got stronger. But, it wasn't just a case of my physical ability growing, my senses and essentially every aspect of my improved. As of now, my physical ability was approaching human limits.
My senses were practically superhuman though, I could see farther and hear better than most people.
And, I've also found something out over the past week while experimenting with my own body. I was testing out Arcane Magic's healing ability against poison, of course I had antidotes on hand when doing this. But, I found out something that was truly extraordinary.
After I had healed from a poison, I was immune to it. Well, I say healed, but I don't really 'heal' in the sense that my cells replicate when it comes to poisons. But, it's more like my immune system adapts.
I've also ran tests on uncooked meats of Mana Beasts and of animals. It seems like I can adapt to whatever bacteria or virus is present. And as for parasites, it seems like regular parasitic species can't survive in my body. The reason is again, because of my system acquiring the ability to neutralise them once I use Arcane Healing.
Now, all of this was cool but what I really cared about was making my body strong enough to wield more of the Sun God's power. Currently, my soul suppresses it's power. I'm not sure why I can do it, or how it works but I know I can do it.
In any case, if my soul were to stop suppressing it, I'd essentially be put into a state where 'Ignition' was active. And, if I don't suppress it with my soul, those white flames that are powered by my own Mana will consume me. Or perhaps they'll drive me insane, who knows what'll happen first.
When I used Ignition, rage came along with it. And, of course, I can't really control the flames. Just summon them, and stop them from burning me to death.
In other words, Ignition is a double edged trump card that I don't really want to use.
Now, if this was all there was to this whole thing it'd be okay. But it's not. I have no idea how long I can suppress the Heart. In other words, I need to make my body stronger so that I no longer need to suppress the Heart. And so that I draw upon more of it's power.
Snapping me out of my thoughts, Arthur tapped my shoulder.
"You alright? Ever since they've been cheering, you've seemed uncomfortable. Are you perhaps sensitive to noise?"
I nodded my head, I didn't mind spilling the beans so to speak. I was going to be using Arcane Magic to it's fullest, without hiding it, so it wasn't an issue. The only secret I'd have would probably be my heart. I can't really go around telling people that I had a heart transplant with a God, now can I?
"Yeah. My senses are all far above normal people's, loud noises aren't nice, especially when there's so many different sources. I can differentiate each voice, so it's a bit disorientating. The same applies for very bright lights, those are annoying until my eyes manage to adjust."
"Superhuman senses... you're just like 'him.'"
Then he smiled, realising he said something he maybe shouldn't have.
"Nothing, you're like a guy I used to know. However, he's not of this world."
I nodded my head silently.
Most would think that he meant that someone he knew had died and althought it was technically true that whoever he was talking about was dead, I knew he meant that it was someone from his previous life, the first of his two lives.
Though, I don't know of anyone in the story who had superhuman senses. Perhaps it was some beastman? My memory of the novel wasn't perfect. And, superhuman senses weren't entirely an unheard of thing. Although, it had to be noted that they were exceptionally uncommon humans. And it was practically unheard of for a human to have all five of their senses be at the level I have them at.
In other words, he's almost definitely thinking of some non human. Granted, there was a chance it was a human, not that it was likely.
And this whole thing didn't really matter, I'd probably meet whoever he was talking about in due time.
'But, what I need to do now is visit my Princess.'
I had honestly grown quite fond of her over the past two weeks, I didn't really have many good friends in my last life. So it was nice to have someone I spent a pretty large chunk of my day with.
And with that I headed down to the stadium's infirmary, waiting outside of the room she was in.
'Oh yeah. After this, it's the written exam.'
