Chapter 26 - Chapter 26 - Family [1]

I had been given a room in the Imperial Castle, it was a room that was rather close to that of the Princess. It was only natural considering my job was to protect her at any and all times.

I was currently in the shower, water ran down my body. I stood below the shower head, looking straight down as blood was pulled off my body by the water.

'I need to get stronger. Much stronger. I need to survive what's gonna come. In some years, the invasion will begin. Demons, they'll attack and I need to prepare. The main character of this novel, of this world... I need to be wary of him too.'

I sighed, the main character of the original novel was a regressor. In his first life, humanity lost, it was a loss so horrific he almost never spoke of it.

In his second life, in other words, in the original novel humanity and demonkind were more evenly matched due to his presence making the people with potential even faster, allowing them to grow faster, and allowing them to grow stronger.

This however, barely evened the playing field. In any case, I'll probably have to fight against demon's myself. Though, I don't particularly have any hatred for them.

Well, I've been mentioning humanity, but there's races that are native to this planet. Elves, beast people and dwarves. They of course aided greatly in the war, after all, they too would be driven to extinction if the Demons won.

But, even with might of several races we're only even, or perhaps we're a bit weaker than the Demon's. That is because of the existence of 'The Seven Demon Lords' and, the strongest being in existence. The Demon King.

But, I don't need to think about them for the moment. For now, I'll focus on getting stronger.

Then, I got out of the shower and got dressed. 'My' family was coming to visit, so I decided to wear a white shirt along with a set of black trousers. I didn't want to look like a slob, but I didn't want to overdress either. So, I thought that this outfit would be apt.

I looked at the clock hung up on my wall, it was around 7pm. I then headed out of my room, coincidentally, I saw Charlotte coming out of her room. He ran a hand through her hair as she softly smiled.

She was fairly tall, however I still towered over her. Her hair was a little longer than mine, and overall she was just... smaller. Although she had a fairly muscled body, she wasn't anywhere close to me in terms of physique.

She was once again wearing a long, black dress. However, she seemed to have stuck a little bit of lipstick on. Honestly, it matched her eyes rather well.

"How was your training? Has Caelus written up some sort of book for you to learn Blood Manipulation? Or, are you doing daily training so you can learn to use it?"

I looked at her in the eyes as we walked, and blood flowed into the whites of my eyes.

"Does this answer your question? I learnt it pretty fast if I do say so myself, I'm happy with my progress."

She looked at me, her eyes widened a little as her eyes shone.

"Guess... you're better at this whole Magic thing than before uh... you know. But, it's good. In any case, is Caelus teaching you swordsmanship too?"

I shook my head.

"No, he said it'd do more harm than good.

She shrugged her shoulders, as if knowing this would be the case.

"Well, he's not wrong. The way you fight is unique, and honestly it should be preserved. Combat with regeneration in mind. It's scary enough to fight someone who doesn't mind getting hurt, but fighting someone who hurts themselves to land a single blow is scarier."

Then she looked up at me, a little worried.

"Reinhardt, don't hurt yourself if you don't have to. If your life, or something of equivalent value is on the line sure but you didn't have to do hurt yourself when you fought me."

I nodded, this girl probably felt awful about the whe kidnapping incident. It was probably why she was so caring towards me, which is why I felt a little bad for the fact that I wouldn't be listening to what she just said.

If I needed to hurt myself to win, then so be it.
