It's been three years since the incident. Huiyin occasionally went to visit Ruining's grave when no one was there. Today was the same. After picking up bouquets, she drove to the cemetery site. Thankfully, no one was in sight except for her. She cleared off some dust and placed the bouquet in front of the grave. Huiyin saw Ruining's photo. She was a beautiful lady with light brown hair and her smile was one of a kind. Her heart started aching whenever she saw Ruining's photo. It's as if she knew her a long time ago.
After a moment of silence, she left the grave and continue on her journey to the conference centre. As an event assistant, she needed to be there early in order to set up the room. This afternoon, a well-known CEO of the Diamond Corporation will be here. Huiyin didn't think too much of it. Her mind was just telling her to finish her job, then go home.
Huiyin's colleagues, Mina, nudged her and said, "Hey, Huiyin. Did you know the Diamond Corporation's CEO is such a hunk? I wish I can be his girlfriend. Oh yeah, do you know if he has a girlfriend?"
"We're not on the same level as him. Let's just do our work well. How would I know if he had a girlfriend or not?" Even though Huiyin knew the CEO, she had to pretend that she didn't. She hoped to not get involved in the business world too much. Business politics isn't her thing. As they finished setting up the room, Huiyin went out to take a break. Her legs were sore from standing for so long. She checked her phone and received a text from another colleague of hers.
After this job, Huiyin also worked at a nightclub where she will serve drinks to customers. She had to work two jobs since living alone in Shanghai could get very expensive. As the time gets closer, Mina waved at Huiyin at the end of the hallway.
"Huiyin, the CEO is coming! Hurry!" Huiyin put her phone inside her uniform pocket. Her black and wavy hair was in a ponytail. She caught up to Mina and all of them were waiting for CEO's entrance to the conference room.
Everyone was in awe when CEO Lin Zixin entered. His charisma was unmatched. Many of his own people fear his cold stare, and he had a powerful aura that one could only watch from afar. He was tall, handsome, and physically fit. All the employees at the conference centre had to bow out of respect. Huiyin did as well. There were reporters and paparazzi everywhere from outside to inside. Everyone wanted to get a snippet of the CEO. As Zixin walked closer to Huiyin, he had a familiar feeling towards her. He didn't know what it was, and he felt like he'd seen her before. He turned his head towards her, but he looked away immediately. It can't be, he thought.
After all people arrived, Huiyin and a few other employees were standing on the side. As the conference started, Huiyin looked around to see if anyone needed her help. Halfway through the conference, Huiyin saw CEO and his assistant leave the room a bit earlier. She didn't want to pry into his business, especially since there are so many reporters outside.
As the conference ended, Huiyin and a few other of her colleagues tidied up the place as most of the people had left the vicinity. She rushed to the nightclub after changing her uniform. When she arrived at the Ocean Nightclub, there were many people lining up outside who had to show their IDs before entering. Since she was an employee, she had an exemption.
In the change room, she changed her outfit again into a black body-con dress with see-through sleeves. She also fixed her hair and did some minor make up. As she went out to take care of the customers, she saw someone familiar. It was her step-brother, Yu Han. Yu Han always had a bad habit of smoking and being an alcoholic wasn't a surprise at all. Huiyin shook her head as she focused her sight on other customers. Even though Yu Han was her step-brother, she didn't have the energy to take care of him.
As Huiyin took care of the guests, Yu Han suddenly got up and wrapped his arm around Huiyin's neck. He leaned in for a peck, but Huiyin moved her head away from him. She hated the smell of cigarettes.
"Your old habits never changes, Yu Han."
"You haven't changed as well, my dear step-sister. You look sexy as always." Yu Han didn't care if they're blood-related or not. He's been a playboy all his life. Huiyin couldn't care less. It's not her job to take care of him.
"Huiyin, my sister... please lend me some money. I promise to pay you back." Yu Han was broke, lost his job, and he gambles. Huiyin refused and asked him to earn his own money. Thankfully, one of his girlfriends came and interrupted them.
"Yu Han, who is she? She's not as pretty as me."
"She's someone I know. You are my girlfriend and I will always love you." He kissed in front of Huiyin and she walked away, saying nothing. In the end, he can always ask his parents. Her relationship with her father wasn't as close compared to her mother. She never blamed her father for remarrying. But the only thing that hurts her was her father wasn't there at the most important moments in her life. Moments like graduation, performances, and birthdays... weren't that important to him. Her mother was the only person who supported her.
As more and more people arrived at the nightclub, things gotten baffling. Huiyin didn't mind the atmosphere one bit. It was therapeutic for her. The atmosphere kept her busy, so she wouldn't think too much about her family. Moments later, Huiyin went upstairs to serve more customers. The customers upstairs are usually VIPs or other business executives. Many of them were young, and some were old. At one corner, Huiyin spotted the CEO of the Diamond Corporation. Lin Zixin, from afar. He is someone whom Huiyin could never reach because, from the surface; he's too perfect. Not including high IQ, he is from a rich family to begin with and, comparing to her, she's not suitable at all.
