Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Sadako's unfortunate tale

"What have you done to Avalo Pizarro and the others?" Magellan's brows furrowed as he turned his gaze toward Lucas in the cell. Sengoku, standing beside him, observed Magellan's perplexing behavior.

Magellan did not hold back, recounting the chilling tale of the Corrupted King.

Sengoku's pupils contracted; he knew who Avalo Pizarro was. The man had been a ruthless criminal, responsible for heinous atrocities that had once made him one of the world's most feared malefactors. The World Government had eventually apprehended him, condemning him to a life behind bars and erasing his existence from history. Sengoku vividly recalled the time when Avalo Pizarro had been taken into custody; the criminal had gone on a rampage, annihilating an entire coastal nation.

Yet now, he was gone. Escape from Impel Down was impossible, leaving only one chilling possibility—Lucas had silenced him, disposing of the corpse with a cold, unseen efficiency.

"What did you do to Avalo Pizarro?" Sengoku inhaled deeply, pressing Lucas for an answer once more.

"He wanted to kill me," Lucas responded matter-of-factly, delivering the sentence as if it were the most ordinary thing in the world. But the implications were clear—he had killed to protect himself.

Sengoku and Magellan exchanged a silent, grave look. Lucas's response was consistent with the demeanor of an incarcerated individual, divulging little.

However, therein lay the heart of the issue. Both Sengoku and Magellan were aware that Lucas surpassed Avalo Pizarro in strength. The once-feared Corrupted King was now overshadowed by Lucas, a seemingly ordinary pirate with a paltry 30 million berry bounty.

Had Lucas concealed his true strength all along?

Sengoku and Magellan, their brows furrowed, pondered this puzzling enigma. Yet Magellan swiftly dismissed these thoughts, his priority clear.

"Forget these matters for now," he declared, turning to the guard trailing them. "Remove everything. This is a prison, not a hotel."

While Magellan didn't fully grasp the origin of the cell's lavish furnishings and decor, he was determined to rectify the situation. The guard moved swiftly to clear the cell, and as the furniture was removed, Sengoku and Magellan positioned themselves before Lucas.

"Prisoner Lucas, you know the reason for my visit. Let's discuss it. What was the purpose of the cameko you sent me?" Sengoku queried, his eyes narrowing as he studied Lucas, their first encounter.

"The purpose? I told the Vice Admiral that I would assist in dealing with pirates because I despise them as well," Lucas responded with a smile, extending his hands. The clinking of his chains accompanied his movements. "Do you think I'll believe that?" Sengoku replied skeptically.

Lucas continued as if oblivious to their doubts, recounting a tale. "Once upon a time, there was a girl named Sadako..."

Lucas's voice was soft and measured as he narrated the transformation of Sadako from a human into a vengeful spirit.

Sadako, a normal girl, was once witness to a fateful event. During her mother Shizuko's presentation, a spiteful journalist subjected Shizuko to relentless bullying, labeling her as a fraud and rallying other journalists to join in the slanderous uproar. This relentless attack ignited a furious rage within Sadako, leading her to seize the journalist by the neck and, with her bare hands, put an abrupt and decisive end to the torment in defense of her mother.

Sadako's life took a tragic turn as she eventually split into identical twins, one embodying goodness and innocence, while the other harbored wrath and destructiveness. Shizuko, their mother, succumbed to the relentless media pressure and departed from this world, leaving behind a profound void. Ikuma, their father, took the twins to the tranquil countryside, hoping for a fresh start.

The good Sadako, nurtured by her father, flourished into adulthood and pursued a career as an actress, harnessing her talent to captivate audiences.

In stark contrast, the malevolent twin suffered a different fate. Ikuma, fearing her destructive tendencies, kept her imprisoned and subjected her to a regimen of drugs meant to stunt her growth, all in a desperate effort to contain her dark nature.

The journalist's vengeful lover, thirsting for retribution, had orchestrated the gathering of a furious mob to confront the malevolent Sadako. In a climactic moment of crisis, the twin sisters had merged, driven by an unrelenting desire for revenge, and had unleashed their wrath upon those who had wronged them.

Confronted with the escalating violence and foreseeing dire consequences, their father, injured and desperate, had taken the painful decision to cast Sadako into a nearby well.

Tragically, Sadako had met her end in that dark abyss, her unresolved grudge and torment lingering to transform her into a vengeful ghost. Her malevolent spirit became ensnared within the cameko, her grudge permeating its very essence. Anyone who dared to watch the video would inevitably suffer a similar, gruesome fate, consumed by the vengeful spirit of Sadako.

Lucas's voice resonated in the dim cell, enveloping them in an unsettling atmosphere. It was as though he had witnessed Sadako's journey from humanity to ghost.

Sengoku puzzled over the connection. "Is this 'Sadako' the woman in white?" he asked, his frown deepening as he connected the dots.

Lucas's enigmatic smile suggested otherwise.

Sengoku remained bewildered. "If the woman in white is Sadako, why would it serve your interests to distribute the cameko?"

A gleam of intrigue flashed in Sengoku's eyes.

Editor: in the novel series: sadako was assaulted by a doctor who had the smallpox virus, she bit him and contracted it as well, she was beaten and thrown to a well to die, but due to her special genetics, the virus mutated and became the ring virus, who ever contracts it will instantly die with a horrific scream like a horror from hell.

I really didn't like the story that the author used for her, so i remade it and actually made it more lengthy and touchy feely :P
