Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Tension in Impel Down

The gravity of the situation weighed heavily on Sengoku's mind. Watching the cameko could lead to death, but Lucas proposed using it as a weapon against pirates. The issue was that wielding such a deadly tool was akin to handling a sharp sword without a scabbard. Even the user of the cameko might meet their end.

Sengoku couldn't help but question, "If Sadako holds resentment even after death, how can you ensure your own safety after seeing the recording?"

Lucas simply shrugged, wearing a nonchalant smile. "I have no idea. My lover is already a ghost; how would I know how to resolve the Cursed cameko issue?"

Lucas had no intention of revealing that there were methods to break the curse. If he disclosed the secret, his profit would be lost. However, he believed that the resourceful Fleet Admiral Sengoku would eventually uncover a solution.

Sengoku stared deeply into Lucas's eyes, searching for answers. But no matter the reason, Lucas wasn't willing to provide them today.

Magellan, however, posed a different question. "What's the connection between the ghost girl in the bathroom and you?"

Lucas tilted his head, feigning ignorance. It seemed as though he genuinely didn't comprehend the question.

Magellan couldn't shake the feeling that the haunting of the Naval Headquarters and Impel Down were connected, but proving such a link was nearly impossible. The existence of ghosts was a concept that defied evidence.

Sengoku continued to question Lucas for a while before deciding to leave. But before he departed, he issued a final warning. "Lucas, I'll offer you a piece of advice. No matter your motive, if you genuinely know how to neutralize the curse of the cameko, share it with me. Don't attempt to use it as a bargaining chip for your release. You see, before you sent that cameko, I might have considered the possibility. However, the circumstances have changed. The death of a Celestial Dragon is not something the Celestial Dragons will forgive. They won't entertain the idea of your release or even show you mercy by execution. To ensure your survival, you must reveal the solution to the curse of the cameko, at least allowing me to use it to spare your life."

With these words, Sengoku departed, leaving Lucas alone in his cell.

The door was shut once more.

Lucas cast a glance toward the now-empty space where the furnishings had been, a menacing smile playing on his lips. But his concern about the missing furniture was minimal.

Soon, his cell would be restored to its previous layout.

Then, a voice broke the silence. In the cell adjacent to Lucas, a curious prisoner leaned against the iron bars and questioned him, "Your name is Lucas, right? What did Sengoku tell you? Why do they keep coming to you?"

Other prisoners also craned their necks, curious about the situation. Ace and Jinbei among them.

Meanwhile, in the depths of Eternal Hell, a pair of scarlet eyes opened within a separate cell, bound by heavy chains. Despite his restraints, this elderly figure exuded an aura of nobility and calm. His mere gaze seemed to instill fear in the surrounding prisoners.

In this particular corner of Impel Down, there were rumors that the old man was a prisoner even the jailers dared not approach.

The conversation between Sengoku and Lucas had been carefully shielded from eavesdropping, ensuring no information leaked to the other cells.

Lucas faced the inquisitive gazes of his fellow prisoners and acknowledged their curiosity. "You want to know?"

The prisoners nodded, openly expressing their interest.

"Very well, you're all curious, aren't you?" Lucas conceded. He motioned to his side.

Without warning, the specter of Sadako manifested, her presence chilling the cell and casting an eerie ambiance.

Lucas pointed to Sadako, offering an explanation. "It's quite simple. A few days ago, my lover was at the Naval Headquarters. While Garp and Sengoku weren't looking, she killed a Celestial Dragon. Sengoku came over and asked me how to calm my lover's rampage."
