Chapter 29
"We should get your dress dried so you can return before they realize you are missing," he said as he took off his shirt.
"Ahh" she screamed, covering her eyes with her hands. "Put on your clothes!"
He smiled at her cute behavior, "done". She opened her eyes only to see him stretching his clothes to her.
"Change into this," he said
"No, I won't" she stubbornly refused as she subconsciously stepped back. He kept coming closer and calling her to stop moving.
"Hazel, don't go back" but she thought he was trying to force her into wearing his clothes, suddenly she felt a cold breeze as he swiftly turned her around, his face turning pale. She heard a hiss and she saw a snake behind him, she brought out a dagger and sliced it into halves as he staggered behind.
"Hey, are you okay?" She asked worriedly. "What should I do? You got bitten by a snake"
"I'm fine, Hazel" he smiled knowing she was worried for him.
"Turn around, show me where you got bitten, and I'd suck out the poison," she said.
"No, I won't let you do that," he said looking at her worried face.
"You should get treated right now, go home else you'd….."
"Shhhh, I'm Lucius Lancaster, the crown prince of Daichi, I can't die from a snake bite," he said. "But if you insist, I'd go after I'm done with this" he added as he used his dark powers to dry her wet clothes then he flew to the sky, smiling at her. She looked at him and was enchanted by his beauty.
"What a beautiful disaster! " She muttered as she watched him fly away.
Hazel went to the fountain the following day, and she couldn't stop thinking about Lucius, she waited all night but he didn't show up. Days rolled over quickly and Lucius still didn't visit the fountain. Hazel went to the fountain and decided to take an open shower under the shining moon. She wore a long white robe and she floated on the water. She heard the water ripple as she felt someone got into the water with her.
"She looks like a real goddess' ' Lucius thought but as he got closer, Hazel bound him with light.
"I…I'm sorry" she said as she saw it was Lucius who got into the water. "Are you okay?"
"It was quite painful but I'm fine," he said. "You're so protective, argh"
She chuckled as he whined. " Why are you laughing?" He asked.
"I'm glad you're fine, " she said. "I was worried you got sick after the snake bite since you didn't show up here"
"Did you wait for me?" He asked and she nodded. "I'm sorry I kept you waiting, " he said.
"It's fine..."
"Hazel! Hazel!!"
"Oh no! That's Abi and Evie " she said. "We should hide". she said, holding his hand, finding a place to hide. "Let's stay here," she said, placing her right hand on a big rock.
"Are you scared?" He asked as he placed his left hand on the rock.
"Ahhh" they both screamed as they held their hands. Hazel was in pain as she held her wrist, a line suddenly appeared and was forming a sign on her wrist, the same thing was happening to Lucius as well.
"What was that?" Hazel asked panting as she held her hand tightly.
"Let me see," Lucius said as he put their hands close to each other. "Looks like the drawing on your hands completes mine".
"What sign is it?" Hazel asked as she held their hands together and immediately the rock they placed their hands on began to open. They got into the rock, Hazel's light shining brightly and enveloped the room while Lucius moved back as he couldn't withstand her power.
"Hey, why are you standing there?" She asked.
"I can't go closer, your light is too strong," he replied. Hazel dimmed her light to the lowest to help him get closer to her. "How about now?" She asked.
"It's better," he said, "but aren't you in danger since my dark force is more than yours here?"
"I know you wouldn't hurt me and if you try to do anything funny, just with a snap of my fingers, my light is everywhere," she said chuckling. They went on different lanes, sightseeing the cave, it had the prophecy drawing on it.
"What if I end up killing you?" Hazel asked.
"Killing me by killing yourself?" Lucius asked.
"You won't, the prophecy was wrongly said, there's another drawing here," he said. Hazel went and opened her mouth in shock as she saw the drawing, the princess of light married the prince of darkness and they both brought an end to the evil dark powers.
"Is it even true?" Hazel asked in disbelief. "Why is that drawing saying otherwise?" She added as they both looked at the drawing, where the princess of light stabbed the prince of darkness with the hawthorn wood.
"It says the only way the prince of darkness can die is if he is stabbed by the princess of light," Lucius explained as he read some strange letters written on top of the drawing.
"Wait! Do you mean I can kill you without killing myself?" She asked.
"Yes, we found out in Daichi that your soothsayer lied about the prophecy, apparently he didn't want the royal family to have an heir so he came up with such" Lucius said.
"I should tell my father," she said excitedly.
"That means killing me Hazel, your people would finally wage war against us, and killing me is killing my whole clan," Lucius said. "The only reason Yvlia hasn't fought with us is because you could die if they know the truth…. "
"Fine, I understand," she said. "I won't tell my father ". Lucius and Hazel went around the cave and made it their secret hideout. After some months, they started a relationship with each other.
Hazel's father finally accepted a marriage proposal for Hazel from Prince Owen. Giving Hazel to Prince Owen was the best way to protect her since every other prince wanted to marry Hazel just to kill her afterward. Hazel and Owen had been friends since childhood but she was in love with Lucius so she confided in her friends.
"Hazel, I had a bad dream," Evie said.
"What was it about?" Hazel and Abi asked.
"You were bleeding in the dream, Prince Owen and the prince of darkness were there," Evie said.
