Chapter 8 : Birds of a feather .
The power of the gods was now limited, the fate of mankind was sealed, and the prophecy that would declare the alteration of mortal and immortal worlds was upon us. The dwarf weaver had tried to unravel the thread of the prophecy, but the fresco there seemed to be crumbling, but he succeeded in changing the future with a light tone, reducing the gods' concern.
In hell, maki ordered his servants to scour the area in search of the origin of the strange violet light that constantly emanated from the abyss, and they were startled to tell him that they were unable to find it, since when they reached a certain limit, a sort of force field prevented them from continuing on their way; the violet light was directly behind this wall. The latter decided to go there in person to find out the cause, but only after having accomplished a few tasks first. Maki ordered his servants to bring him the portrait he had in his hands when he arrived, and so he did. He placed his black hands on the fresco and laughed a laugh that was heard towards the celestial mount where the gods were unable to discover its origin...
To everyone's surprise the only one who knew the true identity of the chosen one of the prophecy was maki. The painting he held in his hands had been illuminated by the birth of jamil's child. And what a coincidence! The portrait, which he didn't let go of when the whirlwind sucked up the other frescoes, bore the identity of the mortal who would be the cause of the destruction of the human world and the alteration of the spirit world. Knowing this, Maki had many plans ....
On earth, in the mortal world, Jacob and his sister Angelique lived a normal life like everyone else their age. Angelique loved everyone and everyone loved her. Not so for her brother, who was always searching for the truth about his family and the cause of his father's illness.
and the cause of his father's illness. As for Jamil, as he grew older, he thought that the dream he'd been having for a long time was just a figment of his imagination, and that he was doing the right thing by not telling anyone about it. Autumn was knocking at the door, and it was one evening in October that Jacob received an invitation from a masked person to attend a Halloween party at an old residence. At first, he refused, as he usually did nothing without his sister, but at her request, he agreed to go alone.
Jacob was intrigued and rather enthusiastic that someone had thought of him by inviting him, even if the identity of the person responsible was unknown, but as he didn't have enough money to afford a disguise, he decided to make one for himself, as his father had retired and it was up to him to take over. On the evening of the party, Jacob put on his costume and went to the address on the invitation card. The air was heavy that evening, and once he arrived at the residence, decorated with lenternes and pumpkins on all sides, the first shock of the evening came. Jacob was standing in front of the mansion where he had been abducted several years ago, so suspicion was the order of the day, even if this was also the perfect opportunity to approach the painting without attracting attention. He crossed the threshold of the residence as the guests, all dressed in black tunics, turned to see the young man dressed in a long cape and demon horns, feeling increasingly uncomfortable and even beginning to regret having accepted the invitation. Each note of music was heavier than the last, and thirsty Jacob couldn't give in to his cravings and taste the drinks from the buffet, fearing they might be poisoned, After all, he had once been abducted from this place, and didn't even know if the blonde-haired woman still resided there, as they all wore masks on their faces. In short, there were too many people dancing in the main hall, so it was impossible to find the masked portrait. He waited a while, then the music faded away, and Jacob didn't want to leave the premises without knowing for sure, as this was an opportunity that might never come again. He struggled to save himself, but his assailants forced him to breathe in a dizzying substance which plunged him into a sort of trance and he fell to the ground. When he woke up, a blonde-haired woman was sitting at the bedside, the same woman he'd seen all those years ago, her face still the same. Jacob asked her why she had taken him and his sister all those years ago, but she didn't answer. She then told him she had a story to share with him, and told him her father's whole story, obviously twisted, accusing her brother of stealing from him, her aim being to turn the son against his father, killing two birds with one stone.A wary Jacob, who was in the room that had once been his father's, believed her, having no other reference point. After all, his parents had been hiding this weighty secret for years, so why would she lie, and in any case, if his father refused to talk about his family, it was for a reason. Weak ties were forged that night and clever Jacob asked for a tour of the manor house his tent had told him would one day belong to him. The young man went to the place where all the paintings rested on the walls, but not the one he was looking for. He returned home in the middle of the night. On his way, a light came out of nowhere and stunned him. It was a mysterious being with a bizarre appearance, a man with cat-like eyes and sharp teeth, but since it was Halloween night, Jacob suspected nothing, even though no costume as real could exist. The latter gave him one of the rarest talisments: a pendant with a stone at the end, emitting a dark glow that captivated the young man with its splendor, who accepted it and continued on his way as if nothing had happened. The next day, the relationship between son and father was twisted. Jamil suspected that something was going on, but said nothing about it. The thing persisted for a week, and daily quarrels took place until one day, in the middle of one of them, the son inadvertently stammered Berthe's name and returned to his silence. Jamil began to get suspicious at this point and decided to spy on his son. That's when he saw him going to the old manor, where to his surprise his son was welcome. The father returned home, cursing his family for having taken everything from him, and wanting to steal his children too. But it wasn't to be. On his return home, the father grabbed his son and told him the whole story: the real one. This was the real way for him not to lose his children: his most precious treasure. Jacob felt an intense anger, not knowing who to believe, so he asked his father for proof, who hesitated, kept his silence, but at the risk of losing his child, confessed a secret: in the drawer of Berthe's office the documents concerning him were there, but Jamil forbade his son to venture there, as it was very dangerous, and contented himself with telling him: "My child, you must believe me". Jacob, not knowing who to believe, decided to isolate himself in his room, which he shared with his sister. Under his pillow, he had placed the violet stone pendant, stretched out on his bed, looking at it and reflecting on all the facets of his family history ,He abruptly got up from his bed, thinking that a stranger had entered his room, but he saw no one.
From the enormous amount of lies surrounding him, Jacob's heart hardened day by day, and his thirst for truth only grew. What was to become of the young man? Would he heed his father's advice or would he do as he pleased?
The voice Jacob heard in his room came from the pendant, which had a very strange history and would be the subject of many twists and turns ....
