Chereads / Peony Flower Farm / Chapter 8 - Goodbye Derora, Hello Adkins

Chapter 8 - Goodbye Derora, Hello Adkins

She is done packing her things and belongings, making Yukie tired and draining thinking of what she should bring and what she would leave, and giving the remaining dress, shoes, and pieces of stuff to her maids and servants.

The crescent moon is glowing bright in the evening sky but Yukie is having insomnia. She can't sleep no matter how many times she tries doing a method and yet, she stays wide awake.

Her window castle has a mini cushion bed, and went there to have a seat.

She opened the windows a little bit, and a cold breeze kissed her soft skin even though she wore a comfortable dress.

The beautiful glow of the crescent is giving a light on this cold, lonely late-night evening.

Admiring the breathtaking night view Yukie can't help but wonder what will happen to her after she becomes a wife of the king.

Queen Consort would be a new title for her since she'll marry a king.

Even if King Alexander is crowned king, Yukie can't be an official queen since the only deal she'll have to do with him is marriage.

Recalling the past with her students is pure bittersweet to Yukie. Seeing their pleading and begging expressions to not leave them pains her the most, as she equally treats them both as students and family.

She wanted to visit the Peony Flower Farm, at this late night hour, however, she was worried if that mysterious man she met earlier would see him again or if that could be their last time of seeing each other.

Also, she doesn't want Heine to disturb him just to take a stroll and breathe at the flower farm.

Yukie wasn't sure of what the future holds on her but the only wish she wanted with her future husband was not to her physically and verbally.

Even though they didn't need to fall in love with each other, just respecting and being a nice person to her is enough for the maiden princess.

No more, no less.

Yukie closed the windows as she couldn't tolerate the cold temperature. She felt drowsy when her eyelids were heavy, running out of battery, and yawned.

Yukie did not realize that she had fallen asleep on the cushion bed near at windows, her chest heaves, steady breathing, and her body relaxed.

Meanwhile, at the Kingdom of Lueur City, King Alexander thanked the monarchy officials and also the King of the said city.

"I am looking forward to attending our wedding, your Majesty. And thank you for your hard work on this."

King Alexander formed a thin line of smiles at King Gregor, the King of Lueur City.

"Anything for you, your Highness. Your favors and request are valid and reasonable, and I cannot say no to that."

Alexander hops on his horse and expresses his gratitude again to King Gregor before leaving the city.

The distance travel from Adkins to Lueur is 2 hours long if he'll use a horse for a ride.

And he only went to the capital city of Nadinia, all by himself.

King Gregor knows he is an independent man even though he has assistants, servants, and guards.

King Gregor was amazed at King Alexander's request, to him, he found it mindblowing and it could be an eye-opener to the person who was involved in this event.

Making him feel anticipation for this possibility that'll happen to King Alexander and his future wife's wedding.

************

Yukie grabbed her boxes and luggage even the maids were protesting with her that she should be taking a rest since her wedding would start soon but Yukie shook her head and promised that she'd only carry three luggage and would stay at the carriage.

The maids, servants, and guards are in tears since Yukie will leave the palace and stay at her husband-to-be's place.

"Your Highness, we are aware of your future husband's behavior and personality of how he'll handle you. Please do not hesitate to tell the truth, we will try to help you."

The head of the maid, Jessica, said with a concerned voice as all households from Assfrior's palace united as they had an idea about the nasty rumors of King Alexander.

"I understand you all, really. As long as he won't hurt me, I am okay with it. That's what matters me the most but I will tell you all, fear not."

"Ooooohhh, how dramatic. All of the household members took the side of my elder sister as if she were a victim of physical abuse. I am all touched."

Some of the maids secretly rolled their eyes, someone just went silent and someone gave her an 'ARE YOU SERIOUS?!' look Sophia Lynn, which she looks happy that Yukie was gone for good at the palace.

"Good morning my lovely and beautiful younger sister.

And to answer your question, it's only a WHAT IFS or POSSIBLE CONSEQUENCES, not exactly what happened.

I thought you were more accomplished than me, but a simple conversation like this surprised me actually cause you thought they take sides cause I'll playing the victim?

Oh please not, they are just showing concern for me, not getting the attention. I guess you need to improve your reading comprehension and logic, younger sister."

Yukie did not hesitate to say a word to Sophia Lynn as she saw the angry look on her, and some of the household members controlled their snickers and didn't want to burst out laughing.

"And yes, even our father really adores you, at least our household members in Assfrior's palace really care about me genuinely with or without a title.

How about you sis? I am not a pretentious lady,

I am a woman whose "HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY" is one of my mottoes.

And I am not a woman that if I lost my honor, dignity, and grace then I lose myself.

That's our difference, Sophia Lynn."

Yukie ended her word as she put the last baggage on the back of the carriage while giving her younger sister a sweet innocent look but her lips curled into a smirk, showing that she won't back down her.

"HOW DARE YOU! YOU ARE A DISGRACE HERE IN OUR PALACE."

Instead of Sophia successfully pulled Yukie's semi-wavy black hair, her face was bumped by a door of a carriage.

A perfect timing for Yukie when she enters the carriage and closes the door, not realizing that Sophia Lynn is attacking her, AGAIN.

Yukie did not mean to slap her using the carriage door as the timing went perfectly and it was a Karma for her younger sister.

She was fuming in mad as she tried to control her temper. When one of her maids tries to ask if she is okay, she pushes her away and stomps her feet.

'If Mama was still alive, she'd scold you nonstop since she dislikes spoiled rotten brat children.'

Yukie said in her thoughts as she mentally shook her head, not believing her sister was like that.

Heine was also done packing his things and belongings as one of the letters she wrote to Alexander was she'll bring her personal servant and assistant as her guardian.

Yukie bid farewell to her household members as she popped out the window, her hands were waving while mouthing a word "GOODBYE" and she saw them crying and some gave her a 'WISHING YOU THE BEST' look.

The sight of the castle and her home slowly disappear from her sight, making Yukie sigh in loneliness.

She slid the small window behind Heine as he acted as a coachman for their travel from Derora to Adkins.

Even though the travel was only an hour, Yukie felt tired and wanted to sleep the whole day once she reached Adkins.

The sun was almost up, and they left early for the preparation of the wedding.

She has to endure the somnolence and it's hard for her to fight this condition as she feels right now.

Yukie wanted to say a word to Heine but she ended up falling asleep as she couldn't handle the sleepiness she felt right now.

***********

"Yukie, we're already here. I tried to call your name but I saw you asleep here in the carriage."

Heine said to Yukie as he gently shook her to make the princess Yukie went awake.

"Oh my we're in Adkins already. I was surprised that I didn't know that."

She said in a low voice as she fixed her hair and dusted her dress.

The five big pearls hair clip that is displayed on her hair gives her a dainty demure lady look.

"Oh, so we're not in the palace from King Alexander?"

"Not yet Yukie and to tell you the truth, their guards are strict and hard to convince.

Plus King Alexander is scary and intimidating even though he is handsome and attractive."

Yukie dramatically covered her mouth when she heard Heine compliment a man.

"Uhm Heine, I won't judge you and still see you as my friend but are you gay?"

She did mean that as a joke as she can't help but laugh while Heine is surprised by her questions.

"Yukie, I am straight and not into the same gender!"

Heine exclaims while Yukie is throwing a laugh because she found his reactions were too funny for her.

"I know I know, I just want to mess up with you and your reactions."

And Heine finds it hard to believe that he got pranked by his best friend and his boss.

As they almost bickering and fooling around, someone interrupted them and Yukie realized it, as she felt butterflies in her stomach.

This is her new chapter in their life.

Heine opens the door of the carriage and offers his hand to her and Yukie genuinely accepts it while she carefully gets off in her carriage.

She was welcomed by different people. Yukie knows that this people are the household of Arison's palace.

But where is King Alexander? Is he even here?

"We are happy to see you here coming from a long, tired travel, and welcome to the Arison's palace, Princess Yukie Mae Assfrior."

They announced as their voice synchronized together and kneeled before her.

She knows the rumors about King Alexander Spencer Arison but why does it feel like she is safer than her palace?

"Thank you for the warm greetings and I appreciate it a lot."

Yukie said as her hair was flowing from the air and tucked her hair on the left side.

Yet she can't see Alexander. She is eager so much about how he looks, how he acts and also his behavior.

Now she is curious.
