The sun set making the sky darker than it had already been. The gentle cry of the rain turned into a cold wall of dispair against her already soaked uniform. She ran along to try to find cover from this agonizing pain. Her heart had just been torn apart like a lion after it's prey. As she found cover under an awning by the river, she couldn't help but laugh a confused yet sorrowful laugh. There was nothing left for her.
"What's the point anymore...", She whispered under her breath, holding back the tears.
She put her head into her knees hiding from the guilt of what had just transpired.
"I will never love again.", she swore to herself, tears now streaming down her gentle face.
The wind had picked up blowing her small hand bag out into the rain and landing in front of a pair of black shiny shoes. She ran to get her lost belongings only to realize him standing there. She looked up and saw his face. His face seemed to also be scorched with the same pain. The rain and the darkness made her question if he had been in a similar situation.
He picked up her bag and handed it to her with a gentle yet sorrowful smile.
"You know, a student shouldn't be out this late. You'll catch a cold in this weather.", he said holding out her bag.
His mourningful smile was the tipping point. She couldn't hold it in any longer. She felt as if she had finally met someone who understood her. His face seemed to know the exact pain she had been feeling for so long. She broke into heavy tears and embraced him.
A look of initial suprise had come over his face, but had immediately went away as he embraced the girl in return.
"Everything will work out again. I promise you. The pain may not go away, but it will get better.", he tearfully smiled.
Her heart may not have been healed, but those words were exactly what she needed to hear at that moment. She felt accepted and safe there in his arms. Nothing could hurt her while she was there. Not anymore.
Thus started the long, complicated journey for Akane and Takeo...
