"Ah! the headache"
Erika whispered.
She felt low; many files were on her table which needed to be checked before being sent to Mr.Grand. It was six p.m., and she got lots of massages from her father. She did not reply to him.
Erika was supposed to end her work hours at 7 p.m., but she has decided to work for an extra hour to cover the cost of her living.
"Can I?"
Erika knocked on the door, asking for his permission. He allowed her in, and she pulled herself to stand straight.
"Mr. Malaya has apologized for not attending today's meeting, and I have received the report of the shipment. The workers are at your disposal, sir."
Erika stated.
He wasn't focusing on her statement; his eyes were on her lips. He put the paper in front of her, then said: "There is a field business trip for gold mines in North Africa. I plan to go."
She let out a pause; this was her first day, and the work was on her shoulders. And now he was trying to flirt with her.
"Ok Sir"
She answered, as she wanted to go out, but he stopped her.
"You will be coming with me, Miss Erika."
He stated as his dark smile arose, and she could learn that he was planning something dirty.
"As you wish, sir."
Erika uttered, she knew how to deal with such men as him; she could tell his strange gaze on her body curves was burning him to catch her.
"Well, all men are the same."
She whispered in disappointment.
By eleven o'clock, she left work and headed home. Her phone was ringing; it was an unknown number.
"Hello, who's there?"
She carefully said, in a polite manner, to hear Rafael's voice giggling in pleasure.
"Where are you? We need to talk."
Rafael said gently.
She rolled her eyes, then said: "I'm on my way home; let's meet at the cafe near City Park."
She got lame of the seek and hide game; she wanted to hear him out; she was the loyal type, whether at work or in a relationship.
"He is now my husband; I have to give him a chance, at least to know his real purpose for marrying me."
She stated bitterly.
The café was unique. She found him waiting for her; he took her jacket and helped her sit on the chair against him.
"I'm all hearing, Mr. Rafael."
Erika mouthed while her professional mood was still on; she was tired till death. He stared at her outfit.
"Raf, my iron lady, just call me by my name."
He said that after the waiter took their orders, most of the men were glimpsing at Erika; she was so attractive that anyone would fall for her.
"Whatever"
She whispered, putting one leg on another and slowly raising her eyebrow.
"I know you're wondering why I married you."
He said as he wanted to smoke his cigarette. She gave him the red eye and pointed to the sign that said, "No smoking inside."
"So what's your reason?"
She asked as he put down his cigarette, and he smiled like a cruel criminal.
"Look at yourself, a hot, sexy, adorable, and intelligent lady with a charming beauty. I think this reason is enough to make you mine."
Rafael stated, to watch her cheeks turn red at his words; she still had the stone look on her face.
"I'm not here for the nonsense; I've got to go; I have so much work to do."
She uttered that, the waiter offered them their orders, and she took a sip from her milky coffee cup.
"What job? Erika, I'm really serious about our marriage."
He asked as he raised his green tea and put it down again.
"None of your business; you ruined my life, and to accept you as my husband, it's like crying for the moon, so just stay off my way, Mr. Rafael Diox."
Erika yelled.
She took her purse; she felt a little dizzy, but she continued to walk to where she parked her car to follow her in madness at her behavior. Hundreds of women were only seeking to get a smile from him, and she ignored and completely rejected him.
"Erika, we are not done talking."
He said, as he grabbed her by the waist; she was so weak to resist him. He noticed that there was something wrong with her; she had a fever.
"Let go of me, Mr. Rafael."
She hissed the words, not feeling with her surroundings, to fall in his embrace. She was delirious with a conversation he did not understand.
As if his heart had stopped working, he took her to his car and headed fast to the nearest hospital.
"How is she?"
He repeated this question for the tenth time, and the doctor answered: "Don't worry, Madam is a little bit exhausted; she needs to rest."
Rafael held her hand; he was afraid of losing her. He had a call, so he went out.
"Ah!"
She opened her eyes to meet Ronald, who was sitting next to her.
"So your name is Erika, right?"
He softly said.
She pulled herself to sit, probably, and said: "What's the time?"
He smiled at her response, then said:
"Why are you overworking yourself? I bet you didn't take any meals during this day"
He was right. At this point, she looked at the other side, towards the window. She glimpsed Rafael, who was talking on his phone, and then she gazed at Ronald, who was staring at her without blinking.
"I wanted to complete my work perfectly, so I forgot to eat."
She thought that while trying to get out of bed, she could feel the floor spinning around her.
"Hold on. "
He whispered to catch her before she could fall; his perfume was what she liked the most.
"Take me home."
She said in a soft, weak voice that he didn't waste a second; he lifted her up, getting out by the other door, as if he were waiting for this chance for so long.
"Where is she?"
Rafael shouted at the hospital staff, making a big drama. One of the nurses tried to calm things down, so she lied: "I saw the madam leaving with her husband. "
Rafael roared while cursing them all.
"I'm her husband."
He yelled in anger.
