Chapter 5 - Ch-4: Waking Up

***

Whilst all this was going on, the man or rather the boy in question or rather the new soul that had entered the unsuspecting body was swimming through endless darkness where it found a flickering existence which was another soul that actually belonged to the original owner of the body.

As if a moth was attracted to flames, the original soul hurriedly flew or rather swam while its flickering intensified and attached itself to the new soul without hesitation as if it was a life-saving grace and nothing harmful just before its flickering started slowing.

The new soul that belonged to the man who had just died, seemed to have healed as the man gained consciousness but it was blurry and foggy. He couldn't remember anything for now, so all he could do was wait.

He slowly remembered his last moments of crying and taking painkillers and finally anesthesia. Then finally his eyes yanked open and he stared at the beautifully designed ceiling with a chandelier hanging that was golden which added charm to the unassuming ceiling.

He found himself in another world with nothing but a single noise being his own words "Shit! I survived!? But... Where am I?". And then suddenly

Ding!

[———————System Notification———————

Congratulations to the host for beginning their final life]

'Now what is this?' thought the man. 'A system? Out of nowhere? Final life? What the…' only to be broken out of his stupor when he heard sobbing and sniffling. He sat up and turned to look at a group of unfamiliar people with dense emotions in their eyes gawking at him.

'What is even going on? Did I get kidnapped by some cult or some pyramid group??' And his thoughts kept racing until his gaze landed on a very beautiful couple who were looking at him with stunned countenances, the woman on the verge of crying, the man trying to control his emotions but failing to.

'Wait, why do they seem familiar? As if I know them?' he fainted just as the thought of the man being familiar passed through his mind.

Arthur, after asking about his parent's whereabouts, went to his younger brother's room only to see him suddenly waking up and before he could understand anything or even greet his parents, he heard his brother say "Shit! I survived!? But... Where am I?" and then saw him looking at their parents and fainting again.

As soon as the boy fainted, the surroundings became chilly as if looming death due to three people, namely Davin, Viria and Arthur, unleashing their pressure in anger.

The healers fell on the ground under this mountainous pressure, having trouble even breathing. The head of the group barely retained himself standing as they hadn't released their entire pressure lest one of the healers die but most likely in consideration to their own son.

He looked at Davin and barely said through gritted teeth with a pleading tone "Let... Let us... check... him". Davin looked solemnly for a second before nodding and then looked at Viria and Arthur who complied and took back their pressure.

Only then the pressure eased and the healers barely held themselves from puking lest they die, barely gasping for breath and immediately checked on the boy.

After checking, they all immediately relaxed and heaved a sigh of relief. Seeing which, the three people also seemed to have relaxed their frustrated expressions.

The man in-charge named Arkas walked in front of them and said calmly "He is fine now, there is no threat to his life, he probably fainted due to shock, as both his body and mind are fine"

Arthur hurriedly greeted his parents by bowing his head and apologized to the main healer as he felt he shouldn't have released any pressure but Arkas just shook it off by saying "It's okay, young man. It just shows how much he means to you and wasn't that instinctive rather than on purpose" while eyeing Davin and Viria but he didn't dare to speak anymore and just left to check on his entourage.

Arkas finally took his entourage out after discussing the details and his entire entourage signed the mana contract to not leak anything of what transpired here. Though his group showed hostility and would have not agreed but they did it as Arkas had already agreed to it.

One of the healers asked "Master, how can you just let it go, they clearly threatened us..."

Before he could continue and others added to it, Arkas immediately exclaimed "My dear disciple, do you not care for your life or do you not care for others in this group and also all of our family's lives? Do you want all of them to get wiped out?"

Seeing that none refuted him, he continued with a light smile on his face in a gentle but stern tone "You should be glad that that crazy old man wasn't here else he would've killed us before, rather than just releasing his pressure."

All of them understood who he was talking about and immediately felt a chill run down their spine making them shut up knowing this was for the best.

Nathaniel Dawner, he is one of the SSS rank hunters making him one of the strongest.

As the healers' entourage left quickly, in the mansion's main office were sitting Davin, Viria and Arthur. All had different thoughts on their mind regarding the suicide attempt.

Finding the atmosphere between his parents chilly and awkward he thought of speaking but no words came out as he kept opening and closing his mouth in the end deciding to keep shut.

Viria broke the silence and spoke with a voice that cracked up as she continued "Did he really say that? Does he hate me that he fainted after seeing me? Does he think death is better than living with us..." She couldn't continue anymore as she teared up.

Arthur wanted to refute but didn't know how to. Seeing his mother cry for the very first time made his chest stifled as he had never seen his mother vulnerable and hurt.

Davin was also shocked but he hurriedly went forward and patted his wife's back trying to console her and spoke "My Dear, there's no way that's true and you know it. Besides, you know he is in the wrong this time and he'll be punished for trying such a thing"

As soon as he finished, he saw both Viria and Arthur glare at him with murderous eyes, but he remained calm and quickly added "Father decided that he may have been overwhelmed by the love we show him and might think negatively rather than becoming a spoiled prodigal, he might have felt he didn't deserve it and took such a step so he ordered me to hold off as he will give the punishment himself"

He continued seeing their expressions only intensifying knowing this complicated the entire matter and said "Don't worry, it won't be anything serious. I will personally talk to father"

After that, they discussed Arthur's dungeon raid along with other family business and guild related topics as Arthur was the heir of the family which was announced at his coming-of-age ceremony since he was already A-rank then which was enough to be hailed as a rare genius.
