Chapter 13: Too Many Calls and Messages

'He's trying to make excuses. It still doesn't change the fact that he forgot our anniversary. I have been thinking about it the month before it.'

Loreen glared at her phone. It would have broken to pieces with the tightness of her grip if she was strong enough.

No matter the reason, it was only right that Edric felt bad for forgetting about their anniversary and asking her for divorce on the same day.

But perhaps, it was also better this way so that Loreen did not have to meet with guests who would have wished them a blessed and long marriage, yet they would get divorce right after anyway.

Perhaps, she had saved face with their divorce happening this way.

Moreover, if Eric had not asked her for divorce that day, Loreen would not have given up on their relationship.

She knew she would have waited for him to calm down and talked to him properly about all this so she could have explained and clarified whatever it was Sera said about her.

But because he asked for divorce on their third anniversary, when she missed him a lot and was excited to see him, she was so brokenhearted that she signed those papers and left.

Edric could not blame her for all this later since he was the one who made such decisions rashly first. She accepted it all in disappointment and a bleeding heart.

She would have been even more disappointed with him with all these calls and messages, but at least, Edric apologized for being violent with her and admitted he had lost his cool.

'I hope that soon, he will realize I had no fault in all this,' Loreen did not like getting blamed for something she did not do either.

But explaining everything to someone not willing to listen was useless. She'd rather not waste any more of her time.

She glanced at her wrist. It had healed already so the mark was gone. But she could still perfectly recall how much it hurt. Especially the fact that he almost strangled her.

What if he was even more violent than that?

Now, even if her heart still hurt, she could say she was relieved they were divorced.

Loreen realized that she did not know Edric as much as she thought despite their years of marriage.

She could understand that yes, he was furious. She could accept him raising his voice and all that. But hurting her physically was a different matter even if it was unintentional. It spoke volumes about his feelings for her.

He did stop before he could strangle her. But simply almost doing it still gave her the shivers.

She could not even take slapping him no matter the words and accusations he said to her that day. She still did not want to hurt him in the least bit. Even now, she knew she could not slap him.

He was that important to her.

Loreen sighed deeply as she she read the line about the house.

"I don't need that house either."

That house would only remind her more of her married life with Edric. He probably did not want to live there either which was why he said he was giving it to her.

But she did not want to, nor need it. He could sell it instead if he did not like it anymore.

Loreen had a lot of attachments and memories to that place, but it was time to forget about all those and move forward with her life.

'Geez. Why is he so stubborn with the alimony? He should be happy I don't want any. He could give it to his next wife.'

The thought of Edric getting married again made her heart crumple. But no longer as much as it did on the day they were divorced.

She continued reading his messages.

(4 hours after she left their residence…) (sent 2x)

Don't you dare make this seem like my fault.

I am the one who is utterly disappointed in you.

I am the one who got hurt.

Don't point the blame it on me.

You were the one who plotted this.

I am simply getting out of your grasp and ending your playtime.

'What the? Why is he still convinced I'm a gold-digger even after I left everything, he gave me?

'Oh, right. Not this phone. I really must send this back. I'm sure this is expensive. It's among the latest model.'

Loreen noted to buy a new phone first thing tomorrow morning so Edric would not say she did take something from him.

Still, she truly could not fathom why Edric was still insisting she was the villain here after seeing she did not even touch the allowances that he had been giving her.

If she was a gold digger, she would have spent all those along with the billions in the bank.

Loreen had to wonder if he was high on something for him not to understand what her notes meant.

Or was he deliberately pretending not to have understood the meaning of her notes and actions?

And how could he have been hurt?

His face was simply filled with fury and disgust with her that day. How was there hurt there? She did not see a trace.

Loreen was getting more and more disappointed in Edric the more she read his messages.

And how could he have been so shameless to call her so many times and send her such messages because she did not answer him.

If he felt bad for asking her for divorce on the anniversary of their wedding, he could have at least given her some peace of mind and postponed his calls to the next day.

Loreen was getting furious, but she kept reading.

***

(8 hours after she left their residence…) (sent 2x)

Where are you?

(9 hours after she left their residence…) (sent 2x)

Where did you go?

Come back if you have nowhere to go.

(10 hours after she left their residence…) (sent 2x)

Are you staying in a hotel?

If you did not bring any cash, tell them to charge it to my name.

***

Edric's messages on the day of their divorce ended like this way.

'Did he expect me to go back home after he told me to leave?' Loreen frowned.
