Chapter 14: When Will She Grow Up?
'Did he expect me to go back home after he told me to leave?' Loreen frowned.
Edric sent those at night as if he was waiting for her to return but she did not, so he asked her where she was. When the night turned deep and she still did not return, he then assumed she was staying at a hotel.
Loreen gulped at the thought that he was concerned about her safety.
He must have recalled she had no relatives there which meant she had nowhere to go.
But that doesn't mean he changed his mind about the divorce, or that it was because he was still worried about her as a lover.
They were not lovers anymore. He had made it clear that he didn't like having feelings for her.
Still, they were husband and wife for three years so Edric was likely doing it out of courtesy.
Likewise, if something happened to her, he could be blamed for it. He had an image to maintain.
He was also the one who had prohibited her from working so he knew she did not have any money to spend.
But he did not consider she could have had a bit of savings on her own.
Probably because he knew she was poor and only lived in a small apartment. Or he assumed she had already spent it all since she never used his money.
Edric did not send any messages again until after three days. It was the day he was expecting her to return to the mansion to sign the alimony documents.
She used to always do what he said so he must have fully believed she would do as she was told. He did not know Loreen did not even open her phone once.
***
(3 days after their divorce…) (sent 2x)
Where are you?
Why did you not return?
I already told you; I cannot give you any more than what's in those documents and what was already in your bank account since my family will interfere if my inheritance gets involved.
Come back here and sign the alimony papers.

"As if I would ever return," Loreen muttered.
'He was so full of himself to think I would return after everything he told me.'
Loreen did not want to ever return to that house. No, she shouldn't.
If she did, she might waver again after finally finding the strength to move forward.
She could not waver anymore so she knew she should never return nor stay in that house filled with too many memories she once treasured.
On the fourth day, Edric's messages were filled with rants and demands about why Loreen hadn't returned to the house yet to sign the alimony.
Loreen simply smirked and scrolled past it. She was no longer interested to listen about all his complaints on why she wasn't answering any of his calls.
After a week of Loreen not giving any responses, Edric was even willing to meet up with her to make her sign all the alimony documents and give her the key to their former house since it was already transferred under her name.
After another week, in his most recent message, he even said he was willing to increase the amount of money she receives by adding a percentage of three years of his income from his solely owned businesses.
'The heck! I don't need all those.'
It annoyed Loreen since he was fully convinced, she was prolonging things so he would give her additional alimony.
It made her feel even more disappointed.
'Is this what he thought of me the whole time we were married? D*mn it! I can live on my own and feed myself just fine.'
She had been doing so for years before he came into her life.
Loreen ignored the rest of his calls and messages and scrolled for the others.
Their maids also messaged her and begged her to go back since their master already moved out.
Loreen did not respond to them too.
Her eyes were caught in a new number that was not registered to her phone.
She quickly opened it and confirmed that it was Sera with her long mocking messages.
***
I heard you got divorced. Good for you, don't you think?
Grabbing more than you can swallow is not good.
You should have understood your level.
Oh, and why haven't you gotten your things yet?
Aren't you so shameless?
Get your things and move out.
Stop acting like you are someone that needed to be chased.
Have you no sense of shame offering your body in exchange for money?
You seduced someone again and played around for so long.
Stop your saintly act, b*tch.
It's time your true colors are shown, you hypocrite...
***
This was just one of the long messages the number sent her. It was not registered to her phone, but the tone and manner of texting and insulting was Sera's.
Knowing that all her messages had were insults and mockery, Loreen did not read them all and quickly blocked Sera's number.
She had just recovered some life in her after the encounter with the little girl. She could not allow Sera to snuff it out when she finally had some motivation to live.
'When will she mature and change?' Loreen sighed deeply and threw her phone on the sofa.
Sera, her greatest bully had succeeded in ruining her marriage. But what was most painful was her idiot of a husband believed her.
And now they were both bothering her. It was clear they stayed in contact. Where else would Sera know her number and the fact that she did not get any of her things in their residence?
She wondered if Edric indeed had an affair with Sera.
It was the most painful thing that could happen.
Loreen hated even just the thought of it. But it was highly possible with how things were going.
The past few months, Edric's parents had repeatedly asked her if their efforts finally bore fruit.
The disappointment in their eyes was evident every time Loreen said no. And they had been whispering things behind her back.
