When Starlet woke up the next morning, she was alone. The curtains were not drawn but sunlight was coming in through a crack and landing across her shoulders. She blinked drowsily and felt the grittiness of her eyes. She had a slight headache. She pulled the blankets around her as she tried to find motivation to get up.
Memories of the previous night flooded her head. The pain in her heart was instant. She drew her legs to her chest so that she was on her side in the fetal position. She wanted to lay there forever. She did not want to move.
Her phone lit up and vibrated and she sighed in annoyance. She reached a hand out of the blanket and picked it up. She put her finger on the fingerprint pad and the screen lit up unlocked. She looked at the notifications and noticed she had two messages. One was from her parent confirming the time she would be picking up Aurora. The other one was from Lucien. She clicked on it after a moment of hesitation.
