Star's hand tightened over her cell. She had temporarily blocked her husband while she called her friends. Now she needed to unblock him and talk to him one last time before she left.
Her daughter was fast asleep. The child lay with her torso and head in Star's lap and her legs on the seat beside her. She had a light shawl covering her and a floppy rabbit toy in her little arms. There was a little backpack on her back and pink fuzzy earphones that her mother hoped would mute the following phone call from her. Star ran her hand gently in her little girl's hair and the child stirred making herself more comfortable.
She took a deep breath and dialled Lucien's number. She had sent messages to her friends and her parents. This was the only way to get her divorce. She was also stepping away so that she could get some peace and not witness Lucien moving on without her.
"Hello," Lucien's voice sounded in her ear and her heart ached.
