"Yes, everything is fine," Sophia said. "We just wanted to make sure that you were aware of the transfer and that it wasn't a mistake or a fraud."
"Oh, okay," Tyler said, still trying to wrap his head around the situation. "I mean, I don't know how this happened. I didn't do anything-" at this point he forgot who he had become.
"That's understandable," Sophia interrupted. "But I need to inform you that the transfer came from one Mr. William Richards. He has requested that we not disclose any further information about him or the reason for the transfer. But rest assured, it is completely legal and legitimate."
Tyler frowned. "Who's William Richards?" he asked.
"I have no idea," Sophia said honestly. "But he seems to be a very generous person. You are now the proud owner of billions of dollars, Tyler. Congratulations."
Tyler felt a knot form in his stomach. It was too good to be true. This was definitely some sort of a mistake or a scam. He was about to say as much to Sophia when he heard a familiar voice in the background.
"He called, you can talk to him, the call has been connected." Sophia said.
"Tyler, my boy!" the voice boomed. "I hope you've received my gift. Let's celebrate be ready by 7am tomorrow."
Tyler's heart skipped a beat as he recognized the voice of Mr. William Richards. He couldn't believe it. His father was William Richards? He blinked when he remembered who Mr William Richards was.
"Uh, hi Mr. Richards, I mean dad," Tyler said nervously. "I don't know what to say-"
"No need to say anything, Tyler my boy!" Mr. Richards said jovially. "You deserve this money. You have a bright future ahead of you, and I want to be a part of it. Let's meet tomorrow evening and discuss how you can invest this money wisely."
Tyler hesitated for a moment. He didn't know Mr. Richards from Adam. What if this was all a trap? What if he was being lured into some sort of a scam? What if he wasn't his father and it was all a joke?
But then again, he had nothing to lose. He had no job, no girlfriend, no prospects. He was broke and lonely. Maybe this was his chance to turn things around.
"Okay, Mr. Richards," Tyler said, nodding to himself. "Let's meet tomorrow morning then."
"Excellent!" Mr. Richards said, sounding pleased. "I'll send your new driver to pick you up at your place at 7am sharp. Dress smartly, my boy. We're going to celebrate in style! Keep your phone location on and he'd find you."
The call ended, and Tyler was left feeling dazed and confused. He had just received billions of dollars in a day. He was about to meet his mysterious benefactor, his real/fake father he wasn't sure yet. He had no idea what was in store for him, but he knew one thing for sure: His life was never going to be the same again.
"If you ain't going to give me a room then I'd leave I can no longer take your insults.
He set himself free from the security hold and walked out.
As he walked aimlessly down the street, his mind started to race. What was he going to do with all this money? He had never even imagined having this kind of wealth. He could buy anything he wanted, travel the world, and live in luxury.
He knew in his mind something was missing, he looked around him as the realization hit him, "oh my gosh! Sigh, I still have to go back for her. It's one thing to be a hero." He turned around and went back to the hospital. As soon as the receptionist was about to speak up he eyed her and dragged the drunk girl along with him.
"Oh you came back." The drunk girl laughed.
"I will make this hotel pay." He smirked at the receptionist who snarled at him.
Tyler hailed a taxi and helped the lady into the back seat. He gave the driver her card where her address was clearly written and sat beside her, keeping an eye on her to make sure she was okay.
"Youuu don't you ever leave me…" She giggled, "and I'd give you my heart." Tyler closed his eyes ignoring all she said.
Once they arrived at her house, Tyler paid the driver and helped her out of the taxi. He guided her to the entrance of her apartment building and rang the doorbell, hoping that someone would be there to assist her, he had other things to do off course.
A middle-aged woman opened the door, her face filled with concern when she saw the disheveled state of the young woman. "Oh my goodness, Ashley! What happened?" She exclaimed.
"I found her in the park with a man troubling her, she seemed distressed and in need of help, so I took her along." Tyler explained, his concern evident in his voice.
The woman nodded gratefully and took hold of Ashley's arm. "Thank you so much for helping her. I don't know what she would have done without you. Please, come inside for a moment. I'd like to properly thank you."
Tyler hesitated for a moment, unsure of whether he should enter the apartment. He didn't want to overstep any boundaries or intrude on their privacy. But he also couldn't ignore the genuine gratitude in the woman's voice after all he could pass the night there.
Reluctantly, Tyler followed her inside and was greeted by a warm and cozy living room. The woman sat Ashley down on the couch and turned to Tyler with a grateful smile.
"I'm Ashley's mother, Grace. Thank you for taking care of her. She's been going through a difficult time lately, and I was just about to call the police to report her missing. You truly saved her tonight."
Tyler nodded and replied, "I'm glad I could help. Is there anything else I can do? Does she need medical attention?"
Grace shook her head. "She'll be alright. I'll make sure she rests and gets some proper care. Thank you again, young man. You're a true lifesaver."
Tyler nodded once more, "if I may can I possibly pass the night here?"
