Over the next few days, the crew at Lasalle Lake managed to restore the plant to operational condition. The plant hadn't be activated in quite a while from the looks of things. As the fourth day came to a close, power crackled to life as the reactors fired on all cylinders. With the control rods dropped into the water, electricity flooded the New Ottawa grid. Fuses began to blow left and right as the grid became overloaded.
"Divert the power across the substations! We can't afford to lose any more fuses!"
Once the power had been evenly spread across the city, the Ghost and his crew followed Archie and Barbara to the Western side of New Ottawa. From years and years ago, the Peltier Marble Factory had been laying dormant. The entire reason that the Ottawans needed the factory, tucked in the far corner of the factory, the former Ottawa Arsenal's ammunition maker had been locked away.
"Logan, go ahead and get the machine ready to produce. We have also diverted power to CIMCO in order to get the smelters running."
"We'll have bullets and steel beams. Seems to me that New Ottawa just happens to be one of the new emerging superpowers." said Cassie as she watched the Ghost and his crew clean out Peltier Factory.
"These Midwesterners happen to have a lot of things we could've used in Lone Star Republic."
"They have a city built to withstand the worst crisis the world and the government could throw at it."
"The Middle of Everywhere. That's what the city visitors center calls it."
"Middle of Everywhere.. They really got that right."
As Peltier came to life, the sound of casings falling down the conveyer belt. Logan and his crew began creating bullets for the aircrafts and the .50 caliber machine gun. The Ghost and his team were getting the smelters of CIMCO Recycling running again. They were going all in on black, and by black, they meant Ottawan Steel.
"Today marks the day."
"Today we reclaim our place. First we build, then we trade, then we reclaim."
Under the leadership of the Ghost, New Ottawa was one of the best and safest places in the American Wasteland. Other surviving communities began to take notice. However, the Ghost wasn't done yet.
"I want power diverted to the Libby-Owens Ford Plant. Rather than make cars, we make tanks, replacement parts for our air-fleet, and plenty of Logan's Howitzers."
"Doesn't this seem a little ambitious?"
"No, this if far from close to what I want for us. This is just the beginning."
As CIMCO cranked out steel and Peltier cranked out bullets, the construction team set their sights upon Libby-Owens Ford. Opening the rusted doors, the old plant hadn't been fired up since the 1980's and it was about time Americans made their own shit again.
As the team go to work, the Ghost restored power to the plant. Rows of lights flashed to life, conveyor belts frozen in time began to turn as if they knew what was going to happen. Under the supervision of the Seneca Preppers, they tore apart a Patton M60 tank.
"Have the drafters get the plans ready, then send the steel order to CIMCO. "
It would be weeks before the first Ottawan made tank rolled off the assembly line, but it was progress.
"My New Ottawans! In the coming weeks we will have made the first ever tank in Ottawa! We have done some impressive things! The best is here and it is time we build our community! We bring more survivors into the fold! As our first acts, we will take Marseilles, Seneca and Morris under our protection! We will rebuild this nation, by rebuilding our towns! OUR HOMES!"
The Ottawans cheer as their leader holds up his fist, thrust high for everyone to see.
"Bufford, you're in charge of CIMCO production right?"
"Yes sir."
"I have plans, something big, something to protect all of our citizens."
"That is sir?"
"Operation Washington Park. Have the Watcher fill you in on the plans and get to work."
"Yes sir."
