Chapter 19 - The New World

As things in the US were calming down, across the Ocean, things were getting interesting.

"GET UP CHARLI! YOU'LL BE LATE FOR SCHOOL!"

A boy groaned as he sat up. He hopped out of bed and began to dress for school. His rainbow bowtie, and school uniform. As he rushed downstairs, put his headphones on and closed the door.

It was raining, so he put up his umbrella. As he walked it couldn't help but let his mind wander.  "Why did they laugh at me..."

He shook his head as neon lights of the cyberpunk style London came into view. He sighed, things hadn't been easy for him since his family moved to England from America. His dad left, his mom hated that he'd come out, and his peers wanted him dead. He just wanted to be himself, and left alone.

As he arrived at the school, he stared at the doors. He unwrapped a New World Order Day sucker, cherry flavored, and walked into the school. As he walked into the building, people stared and laughed.

"Oye! Isn't it everyone's favorite queer bastard!"

"Yea! How's it been since your dad left? Miss him?"

Charli rushed past them to his first class.

"Are you ok dude?"

"Huh?"

Charli took off his headphones to see his classmate leaned over toward him.

"Right, silly me, headphones. Is everything alright? You look more depressed than usual."

"Yea... Everything's fine."

As bells rang through out the day, Charli looked out the window, staring aimlessly, hoping something cool would happen, but nothing ever came.

As the days final bell rang, everyone began to leave. As Charli was walking down the stairs, a boy grinned and shoved him. As he hit the ground, the other bullies laughed and encircled him.

"It's only fair, you being queer and all! FUCK YOU!"

The boy kicked him as a few of Charli's friends ran over to check on him. He pushed them away and walked home. As he got home, his mom slapped him.

"The fuck is that bowtie! GET UPSTAIRS!"

As he rushed upstairs, tears began to fall from his face. As his mom locked the door to his room, he turned the lights off and stared out the single window in his room.

"Maybe if is was dead...they'd all be happy."
