Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Chased by my enemy

Janet's POV

It's the beginning of a new day. The sunlight was slowly escaping from the shades of the sky, projecting its rays across the large leaves of the giant trees in the forest.

The atmosphere in the forest was cool as the fresh air kept sweeping around the dried leaves that were on the ground.

Meanwhile, I was still lying down beside the large tree where I had dozed off yesterday night.

Leroy, on the other hand, had already left for Moonstone Pack the previous day, and I was supposed to get there today if I left earlier, but here I was still dozing peacefully like a newborn baby who had no worries.

As time passed, the singing of the birds kept getting louder and more annoying, in addition to the sounds of the squirrels, who kept running up and down while playing with each other.

Unable to endure the noises anymore,I reluctantly stood while yawning, like someone who was fighting against the urge to sleep.

Once I rose up, I sat on the ground with my back leaning on the tree behind me while enjoying the fresh air of the forest.

As I was sitting there, I decided to link with my inner wolf since I was feeling lonely due to Leroy's absence.

"Hello Tricksy How are you?" I asked her after mind-linking with her.

"I'm fine Janet, I hope you slept well." She asked me.

"Yes, I did Tricksy," I replied while yawning.

"Janet, do you think that we are ever going to be able to meet Leroy again?" She asked me with a sad tone.

"Yes, of course; he gave me his word, and I know that he will respect it," I said to her reassuringly.

"Ok, Janet, by the way, didn't Leroy tell you to leave earlier so that you would get to Moonstone Pack before dawn?" Tricksy asked me inquisitively.

"Yes, he said so, but you know me well; I'm not an early riser, but trust me, even if I don't leave earlier, I will surely get there before dawn," I said to her. My voice was arraying with confidence.

"I pray you do," she said to me before switching off the connection.

Without hesitating, I stood up and arranged the clothes on which I slept in the bag that Leroy left for me before leaving.

After arranging it, I went to the stream and took my bath, and afterwards, I plucked some fruits that I would eat for breakfast.

After eating to my satisfaction, I placed the bag on my back before shifting into my wolf form, and immediately I ran off in the direction of the Moonstone pack.

I was expecting to reach the human world before evening because, according to Leroy, when I reach the human world, I will find some merchants who are werewolves like me, and they will be the ones to give me directions on how to get to Moonstone Pack since the place isn't familiar to me.

But to my greatest surprise, the evening was slowly catching up on me while I was still far from the human world.

After running for another two hours, I finally got to a mountain, and from the mountain, I could clearly see the human world and the humans who were walking around.

To be frank, the human world wasn't totally different from ours, just as people in Oz Pack used to say; it was almost the same—the cars, the street lights, and the playgrounds.

The only thing that differentiated a little was their way of dressing, which was a little different from ours.

Maybe the teachers in our schools told us different lies about humans in order to stop us from wandering towards the human world because we might unveil our identity to them when we get there, and that will certainly be great trouble for the werewolves because according to them, werewolves don't really exist.

After observing them for a little while, I shifted back into my human form, and afterwards, I looked for a cloth that would suit their method of dressing, and when I found it, I wore it and started heading towards the human world.

As I was walking among them, I used my wolf senses to detect if there were any werewolves around, but unfortunately, I found none.

I kept on wandering around the human world for almost thirty minutes before I finally sensed a werewolf around.

Without hesitating, I quickly followed my senses until I met him.

When I met the man, he was totally strange. He was sitting at a corner smoking, something I have never seen any werewolf do. I only saw people smoking in the movies.

"Good evening, sir," I greeted him.

"Good evening, young girl. How may I help you?" He asked me while puffing the smoke from the cigarette he was smoking.

"I'm actually heading towards Moonstone Pack; I need directions on how to get there," I said to him.

"Well, it's already late, young girl. You will need to rent a motel and spend the night there, and tomorrow you will continue your journey," he said to me.

Afterwards, he gave me some directions on where to find the motel, and he also told me to meet him at the same spot the next morning so that he would give me directions on how to get to Moonstone Pack.

After thanking him, I followed the directions that he gave me and found the motel, and happily, Leroy gave me some cash before leaving, so I used it to rent a room.

The room wasn't bad, only that it wasn't arranged like my room when I was in the Moonstone Pack leaving with my foster parents.

Once I sat down on the bed, the ideas of the good moments I had in Oz Pack started replaying in my head—how my mother would read night stories for me before I went to bed and how they loved and cherished me.

As these thoughts were running through my mind, I was jerked back to reality by a strange scent that smelled familiar.

Without hesitating, I approached the door and placed my ear on it, and I could clearly hear some men asking the receptionist about a girl who rented a room some minutes ago.

As I was listening to them, I immediately remembered that the scent I had perceived was similar to that of the guards that worked in the Oz Pack.

"Ooh my goodness, how could I have forgotten their scent this easily?" I questioned myself, my heart pounding heavily.

What seemed more strange to me was how they were able to find me.

Well, this wasn't the time to start thinking about all this; the main problem was how I was going to escape from this motel without them finding me.

Without hesitating, I parked my belongings that were on the bed inside the bag and placed them on my back.

Afterwards, I started pacing around the room while thinking about how to escape.

While pacing around, my gaze went directly towards the window, and without hesitating, I quickly opened the window. Luckily, there wasn't'any burglary proof on it, but unfortunately, the room where I was staying was located on the second floor.

Once I looked down from the window and saw the distance that I was from the ground and the speed at which the cars were passing, I swallowed hard.

As I was still battling with my mind about whether to jump or not, I started hearing the door shaking violently as the men were trying to get in.

After some seconds of hesitation, I closed my eyes and jumped.
