"Who the f*** was that with Aiden just now?"
"Oh, that's... I don't know. I never got his name." Kevin shrugged,
"His?" Mitch pointed out, and Kevin nodded
"Apparently, she's a boy, and Aiden doesn't see anything wrong with it. Anyway, I'm off. See you n class." Kevin said and waved the red head off before going into the building. As the boy disappeared into the building, Mitch still stood there, staring into space... There was no way he could be mistaken. That was definitely the merman with Aiden. How did he manage to get legs? And Aiden even brought him to school?!
"I need to find Jenny." Mitch murmur to himself before he headed in.
On the night of the grand opening after the incident and Aiden had left them to pull Rachel out of the sinking boat, the commotion had drawn attention from The people in the building and a crowd came to help. It seemed like the creatures who were after them got alarmed by the sudden crowd and retreated, which was how Rachel was able to survive that night.
After such an incident, which was caused by him, he was still able to have fun with the one reason why Rachel almost died. Mitch fumed as he walked down the hallway
"Hey, who do you think she is?"
"I don't know, maybe his cousin."
"Oh, come on, that's just you trying to give yourself hope."
"Waahhhhhhh! Did he really get himself a girlfriend? "
"He wouldn't even let me borrow a textbook."
"I still think she's his cousin."
"But no one in His family is blonde."
"Ehhhhhhhh! I'm not going to believe it till I hear it."
"I'm sure she's a transfer student."
"Dummy, why else would she be here?"
When Mitch walked in, the halls were crowded with girls who were whispering about the girl whom Aiden had come in with. This made Mitch fume even more.
It wasn't only the girls, even the guys were in a daze by how pretty the girl was. But they all knew better, since she was stuck with Aiden... no one had the right to touch her. Such a letdown.
When Mitch got into the classroom, he didn't have to look for Jenny since she was sitted on the first desk one would see upon entering the classroom with Rachel on the chair. They both turned to look at him once he approached them.
"I'm sure you both know why I'm here."
He said as he took his seat beside Rachel
"No, why?" Asked Jenny, raising a brow.
Mitch looked around the classroom for any prying eyes or ears before he continued,
"You guys didn't see Aiden Walk in?"
"No. Why would we go looking for a coward like him?" It was Rachel who spoke with a look of disdain on her face, and Mitch could totally understand how she felt.
"You guys remember the mer boy he was hell bent him taking home? He's here at school." The redhead said, and the two girls just stared at him blankly.
"Are you sure about that?" Asked Jenny
"Yeah, I mean, he's a mermaid." Rachel interjected
"I didn't see his face, but I'm sure it's him. He had blonde hair, right?"
Yes, he was quite sure. In fact, he was one hundred per cent sure that even though he had only seen the boy from behind, he knew that that was the merman they had caught that night.
"Mitch, you didn't even see his face properly. You can't just jump into conclusions just because he came to school with Aiden... maybe it's a different person with the same blonde hair. And besides, Aiden basically kidnapped him. I don't think he'd be dumb enough to actually stick around him."
Mitch was quiet for a while, thinking about what Jenny had just said... she was right. Maybe he was just mistaking him for someone else because he was paranoid. "Yeah, I guess so."
"Who?" Kai question when they got into the building. Aiden glanced at the boy and smiled,
"Just a friend, no need to worry about him." Aiden said and pinched the boy on his soft cheek. This display earned them a lot of envious stares from the people in the hallway which where mostly directed to the blonde boy beside him and when the other glanced at him, he looks surprisingly indifferent to this which gave Aiden more peace of mind.
Finally, they arrived at the principles office, and Aiden knocked on the door
"Come in." Came the male voice from inside the room. "Ah, Aiden, I've been waiting for you." The man, who looked like he was in his early thirties with glasses, said when Aiden and his companion walked into the office.
"Good morning." He greeted and bowed slightly with Kai following suit.
"Good morning to you too. This must be the foreigner your family is in charge of?" The principal said when his eyes fell on Kai and Aiden nodded with a polite smile, So that was the lie his sister came up with, not bad, he thought.
"It was quite sudden when She called and told me she wanted someone to transfer to this school, but what can I do." He adjusted the glasses that rested on the bridge of his nose before he leaned and reached out for a pile of document in his bottom drawer.
"I asked your sister to fill in the necessary documents for his transfer, but she told me to let you have it... and I hear you are also his legal guardian?"
"Yes, that's right."
He handed Aiden the necessary documents to fill along with a pen. Aiden took the pen and sat on the swivel chair while Kai still stood behind him and went ahead to fill in the necessary information.
While Aiden had his attention on the paper in front of him, the principles dark eyes moved to the blonde who stood with her hands behind her back and her gaze on what Aiden was doing... she looked Ethereal with striking blue eyes and unblemished pale skin that looked soft...
"Your sister told me she was transferring a boy."
"He is a boy."
Aiden replied simply, and a principal merely just nodded his head even though, in his head, he was shocked beyond measures. Since this boy was related to the Clein family he didn't bother questioning why he had on girl clothes and besides, they were in a society where people are free to dress however they wish so it wasn't something bad.
"What's your name?" the man questioned, and Kai's piercing gaze moved to him, causing the elderly man to flinch. Aiden noticed this and also moved his gaze to the principle.
"Kai." Kai said with a bright smile that's let out his one-sided dimple, The principles face burned red, and he fell silent while still staring intensely at the boys' ethereal being...
SLAM!
The sound of Aiden slamming the pen on the paper as soon as he was done echoed in the principles office. The principal glanced at him with a confused look on his face, but Aiden merely smiled back.
"I'm done filling... I filled in for Kai, too, so there's no need then. We'll be off."
The principal cleared his throat and nodded his head,
"Yes, you can leave." At that moment, the bell rang, signalling the students to head to class for the lectures
"Thank you." They both bowed and exited the office, leaving a dazed principle behind.
When Aiden and Kai got to the classroom, Aiden chose a seat by the window where no one would notice him, and Kai sat beside him. Soon, the class was filled up with students, and once everyone was settled in, the teacher came in and on cue, the students greeted in unison.
"Before we go ahead with class today, the principal just informed me that we have new students in our department. Kai, would you please stand up."
The female teacher said this, and the merman stood up upon hearing his name.
"So she's the one I've been hearing of since this morning."
"Damn, she's really pretty,"
"So she ended up following Aiden into his department?"
"Wow,"
"Now all the guys in our department would start tripping."
"Ehhh? I haven't gotten a confession yet, and now she shows up!"
"Take it easy she's taken."
The silent whispers in the class were enough to make Aiden fume
"Quiet down class!"
The teacher ordered, and the whole class fell silent
"Kai, would you please introduce yourself."
"Hi, I'm Kai it's nice to meet you all. I'm looking forward to studying with you and I hope you take care of me." He let out one of his most charming smiles that sent the class into a frenzy.
"Okay then, back to the lessons for today..." The teacher began, and the whole class composed themselves
Kai sat back down and turned to Aiden with the wide smile, probably expecting a praise. Aiden didn't smile back, but instead, he slipped his hand behind Kai's neck and pulled him closer, whispering something into his ear that caused the boy to flinch...
"Don't ever smile like that to anyone." He warned, and kai nodded slowly. when he pulled away from him, he ruffled the boys hair with a smile as if he were a puppy, "Good job!" He praised, and Kai smiled once again.
At the front seats of the class, Jenny and Rachel stared at the duos display by the window with wide-eye and in disbelief...
Mitch was right. It was really the mermaid.
