The days passed by quicker than expected, with them being busy with school work. And soon, the whole week was gone... faster than the speed of light, the weekends went by too, and they had now entered the new week. Monday was as busy as it usually was, but they had gone through it successfully, and now it was Tuesday.
Over the last days, Aidens leg had healed but not without leaving a scar behind which of course he didn't mind, and Kai had also settled in and now understood the system of how things worked in school and on land in general.
Using an app on the phone that Aiden got him, he finally understood the basics of English, and now his sentences were more fluent. And in school, Maddie hadn't shown her face after the incident with Aiden and Kai the other day... everything was going fine,
All the while Aiden was taking care of Kai and providing his basic everyday need even paying the tuition fee and transfer payment, everything had been a secret from his parents, letting only his sister in on it.
She didn't mind it but warned him to be careful and know how to handle the situation if their parents ever found out.
Though the morning sun had already risen, Aiden still laid on the soft king-sized bed with his blanket drawn up to cover his head, shielding his eyes from the light that came in through the window.
"Won't you get up?" Kai said when he stepped out of the bathroom in a loosely tied bathrobe and a towel on his dripping blonde hair.
"I don't have lectures this morning... I haven't been able to rest since last week, let me sleep!" He whined, tossing under the white duvet which made the boy laugh.
"Okay. I have a meeting so I will go first."
Immediately, Aiden heard this. He pushed the blanket aside and sat up,
"What? How come? Your schedule is the same as mine."
"I joined the art club." Kai said with a small smile, playing on his lips as he went to take off the robe
"Art club?
"Yes... I was passing by last week Friday and got an invite from one of the members... it looked interesting, so I decided to try it out, and I liked it." He explained
"Was that why you were absent on Saturday?" Aiden said, and the boy nodded. The former heaved a sigh, depressed... so now he was too busy to stay with him?
"Who has club meetings first thing in the morning... I can't even sleep in with you." Aiden dropped his head as he sulked
"It's because the president knows people are free, that's why." The merman sat on his bedside and patted the other on the head trying to console the wallowing man. Aiden really didn't want Kai to leave him, and so early in the morning, too. He rested his head on the boys bare laps as he only had on a black boxer short and polo shirt and wrapped his arms around his waist
"Don't go! Come on, just skip for today or go in late! And besides, I don't want you going to school on your own."
"Then just come to school with me."
"No, I don't like school."
"Hehe, I need to get dressed." Kai said and tugged at Aidens arms that were holding his waist and preventing him from moving. Suddenly, Kai felt Aidens warm hands slip under his shirt gently and slowly caressing his skin until he reached the boys nipples, "hng," Kai flinched and his face flushed... that alone was enough to make his breath hitch,
"Aiden, your hand..." he said in a soft tone but Aiden didn't want to listen to his protest, before he could say any word of protest, Aiden pulled the boys head down toward his and slid his tongue into his already open mouth,
"Mmph," Kai protested and tried to pull away but soon fell weak from the pleasure.
"I don't even get to have personal time with you." He said with their faces mere centimetres away. Kai bit his lower lip and said,
"Thank you for taking care of me, Aiden." Aiden smiled at this but couldn't help feeling bothered about the pitiful look the boy had on his face. "Yah, if there's anything wrong, tell me, okay?" Kai nodded, and Aiden sighed before pouncing back on the bed with his eyes closed, ready to lazy around,
"Ahhhh! You better get going now that I'm holding back..." he opened an eye and peeked at the boy who had hurriedly stood up to get ready, "I'll meet you at school later, so wait for me." He said in a soft, deep voice that sent a chill down the others spine, and he nodded.
Soon, he was done. He gave Aiden a quick bye kiss before he got into the car and was taken to school by the driver. Aiden had hired for situations when he wasn't able to go somewhere with him.
After being left alone, Aiden opened his eyes once again and just stared blankly at the ceiling... he had no reason to worry about Kai... he was fitting in perfectly well as he expected, and their relationship was perfect... so why did everything feel... wrong somehow? And the boys' expressions were making him even more worried. When the time felt right, he would sit with him and have a proper conversation.
Kai arrived at the university, and it was obvious that the students were quite shocked to see him without Aiden. He had on his usual DO-NOT-APPROACH-ME look as he walked into the building.
Even though Kai had also become more popular, people still feared to approach him because of his indifferent and sometimes rude attitude. He was only ever nice to a few number of Aidens friends. Other than that, he never paid attention to people who weren't Aiden. This gave Aiden peace of mind.
"Kai!" A female with glasses called when he got into the classroom they were making use of. He smiled at her and walked in.
Soon after and the introduction meeting was over. He still had free time on his hands and decided to go to the library, where he stayed till time for his usual lectures.
When he got back to class, he noticed that Aiden had still not come to school since he had not seen him anywhere... perhaps he fell asleep on the bed or just did not wish to come back to school for the day.
Life on land was perfect... beyond anything Kai had imagined back in the ocean, but would it be the same if Aiden hadn't taken him that night? He was glad that at the very least he was captured by someone who liked him for who he was and took so much care of him... he was grateful, but most times, he felt more like a burden to the other, but he didn't want to return to the sea. These kinds of thoughts made him wonder what he would be and where he would have been if it wasn't Aiden who had caught him that night.
Gaining insight on how the land worked, Kai decided that if he wanted to live here longer, he would get a part time job and won't solely rely on Aiden to provide for him but he doubted that the young master would agree to this... he just needed to find the right time to talk with him.
"That's all for today, see you next class." The make lectures voice reached the mermans ears... at the end, he wasn't able to pay attention to the class.
This was the best thing about Tuesdays. The lectures ended earlier than usual. Kai got his notes and quickly left for the campus cafeteria before anyone could approach him and ask about Aiden or why he didn't come to school. He stopped by his locker and stuffed his books in before he went to his destination.
When he got into the neat hall, he couldn't help but notice how all eyes of the student seated were directed towards him... Did he have something on his face? This much attention made him weary, but he chose to ignore it. He took a tray and went to get his meal from the nice old lady who smiled at him and gave him an extra beef and egg since she was worried about how slim he was.
As he walked between the rows of the table. The stares got more intense, and it was getting quite hard to ignore, so he decided he would eat quickly and get out. He was heading to the table at the rear of the hall when someone who has seated by the edge of the wooden bench stretched out his leg before he could take the next step purposely causing the boy to trip and fall.
Fortunately for Kai, the fall wasn't that intense, and he fell and his knees and palm. The floors were tiled smoothly, so he was sure he wasn't injured. Even though he was okay, a good portion of his food had spilledt to the ground, which caused great sorrow to the boy.
The hall erupted in a muffled laughter when they saw this, but Kai didn't mind it. What hurt him was his food. He shot a glare at the boy who had caused him to fall, and the other flinched from the sharp, narrowed blue eyes directed at him. Kai sighed and decided to let things slide.
He picked up the remaining food on his plate before he stood up, only to meet with Maddie and her gang. As if he wasn't already vexed from the food!
"You left the healthy part behind." She said, referring to the food on the floor, and Kai smiled,
"Oh, I left it for you, I think you need it more than I do. Sharing is caring, right?" He retorted, his remark wiping the smug smile on her face.
"How dare yo -"
"Ahh, so noisy !" He interrupted and let out an exasperated sigh. He didn't have time for this Petty play. He gingerly walked past her and took his seat ready to start eating when he suddenly felt a warm liquid being poured down on his head. He remained unmoving as the brown liquid trickled down and soaked through his hair and into his shirt. Maddie didn't stop there. She poured another box of milk on him before dumping a whole bowl of soup on him. The whole cafeteria fell silent, and Jenny, who just happened to be present, was also shocked...
"Here, have some. You might be taller, but you need more food than I do." she countered with her feigned polite smile intact. She dumped the empty carton of milk in his food and leaned closer to his ears,
"How does it feel being embarrassed in front of a bunch of people, huh? I'll have you know that this is just the beginning. After you messed me up, you think you could go free? I'm gonna do this until you decide to do whatever I say..."
"And what is it that you want?" Kai turned to her with a pitiful look on his face that made the girl want to destroy him even more,
"Break up with Aiden." She said, feeling triumphant that she had shaken the always indifferent Kai.
The way Kai immediately stood up from his seat caused the girl to flinch and straighten back up. He then turned to her, and before Maddie knew it,
SLAP!
The girls flinched from the sudden sound that echoed in the silent cafeteria. Guys weren't supposed to hit girls, but this girl was crossing the line... besides, right now, he was believed to be a girl, so it didn't count. Maddie turned to look at Kai with her lips agape and her palm her throbbing cheek... she was speechless...
"Don't push it." He warned, and before the girl could recover or even react, Kai walked away... at the end, he couldn't even eat.
Since he wasn't taking off his undergarment, Kai went to the female restroom to wipe the soup off his body. He was the only one in so it was even better... he was really soaked and stinked from the mixture of soup and milk in his hair... that girl really pissed him off... who would do something like this to another person? Kai fumed as he rinsed his face with running water.
"I think you should go home for today." Someone said from the door, and Kai shifted his gaze to see the girl with black hair. She somehow looked familiar, but Kai didn't want to duel on it,
"You don't have to tell me what I know." He retorted and went back to wiping his clothes.
"Wow, you're just as rude as Aiden... no wonder you guys are so in love." Jenny walked into the restroom and leaned on the sink beside where Kai stood. "I thought mermaids change back when they come in contact with water?" As Jenny asked this, Kai froze and quickly shot her a glare, feeling threatened.
"So now I got your attention." She chuckled with a small smile, reassuring him that his secret was safe with her.
"I won't change back if it isn't sea water." He explained when his gaze softened. Looking closely at Jenny, Kai finally remembered where he saw her.
She was there that night, the night he was caught in the net. And back then, he remembered her telling him how pretty his tail was.
"You?" He asked with a smile appearing on his face, remembering how calm she made him feel.
"So you do remember?" She giggled."My name is Jenny."
"Nice to meet you, Jenny." His smile widened, showing his cute dimple,
"Your English is better than I imagined." She complimented, and the merman flushed and scratched his neck nervously,
"Hehehe, Aiden has been giving me lessons."
"You two are really glued to the hip, aren't you?" She said with a worried look, but Kai didn't reply and just stared back at her with a nervous smile.
"Why did you choose to stay with him? You could return back if you want. If he loves you, he'd let you go."
"I like Aiden, and I want to be with him." Came his straight forward answer. Jenny was shocked at how the relationship between a captured and captor had grown so much but didn't want to pry on their matter, so she decided to change the topic
"It seemed like Maddie told the whole school to pick on you, I can't believe they're behaving like high-schoolers," Jenny said as she wiped the boys shoulder.
"It is okay, I can deal with her, but I need to go before this dries up."
He ruffled his hair to check if it was dry.
"Okay, come on, let's go together." She stretched out her hand, and Kai took it... was he always this trusting to anyone who was nice to him? She thought about it but soon realised that he had a very defensive wall around him and only let a few people in. And when he did, he would cherish them... at least that was what she deciphered from his relationship with Aiden.
When they went through the hallway, kai drew a lot of attention because of his look, but he was good at ignoring people. Even when Kevin asked what had happened, he was totally ignored.
When they got to the parking lot, kai and Jenny noticed the group of men in black suits and dark shades standing by Aidens car. They looked like body guards, and Kai wondered what they were doing at school. It was no wonder people were staring.
"Are you Kai?" One of them asked when they approached them.
"Yes, is something wrong?"
"Master Aiden sent us to pick you up."
Kai rose a brow. Was this an attempt kidnap?
"But I have the driver already."
"He gave strict instructions to bring you to his current location when you are done." The bodyguard said with a stern voice. Jennys hold on Kai's hand tightened,
"Where is his current location?" She asked.
"Hotel Royale."
