Chapter 15 - Holy Light

The next morning, strange rumors circulated through the college.

"Did you hear, two freshmen in the girls' dorm hit their heads on the doorframe yesterday and were sent to the hospital with concussions?"

"That stupid?"

"Silly? Ha, you don't know how scary the situation was at that time, those two people kept hitting their heads against the doorframe like crazy, the bystanders didn't listen to how to persuade them, and they couldn't pull them back, so I don't know how scary it was."

"It's..."

"I heard... People used to die in that place..."

Eleazar, who happened to overhear these conversations, turned his head to look at the men.

Being so added to it, it has that little bit of a sneaky flavor to it.

He shook his head with some amusement.

Then without walking for a while, he heard others talking about it again.

"I heard, ah, there's an evil spirit prowling around the girls' dormitory..."

"Specializes in finding those who are impure to possess."

The rumors were getting more and more outrageous, and Eleazar was becoming speechless.

The vast majority of legends are people's guesses and imaginations, and the real shenanigans... No one can laugh about it.

...

The morning air at the academy was incredibly fresh, with the faint scent of flowers wafting in from both sides of the road, as students gathered from all over the place, heading to the gym together for the entrance ceremony.

Standing in a neatly arranged line, Eleazar is unassuming.

The rest of the process went as he had imagined it would, with various leaders from the academy taking the stage to speak and encourage them as well as lecture them.

Silence finished clapping along with everyone else, and just when he thought it was over and he could be dismissed, another character took the stage.

There was a sudden intake of breath around them, accompanied by vague dark cries, and some commotion in the queue.

The principal smiled and said to the director of instruction, who had a straight frown on his face, "Qishi's charm is still as strong as ever."

Eleazar looked up and was momentarily dumbfounded.

"Next, I'd like to invite our student body president to give a speech."

"Snap-"

The applause, from everyone, was as loud as it had ever been.

That student president standing on the stage, dazzling and holy.

Pure white knee-high socks, purple edge shawl as angels hanging down wings, white clothing also in the neckline, sleeve edge, hem, lapel painted with conspicuous deep purple color; silver long hair and waist, skin white crystal looks like a layer of shimmer, features pure and moving, soft pupils such as amethyst as pure.

This divine beyond-measure student president made the students on stage instantly submit.

Shock filled Eleazar's heart as the dazzling student president, in his transcendent vision, was shrouded in a holy radiance.

She was more than just glowing with snowy white skin, she was glowing!

Without the slightest concealment of their transcendence, they make their presence known to all who know the hidden secrets, grandly and gloriously.

That layer of holy light made Eleazar think of one of the sequences highlighted in the magical guidebook as a reminder - Holy Light!

Their Creator, the one who founded a divine force that lasted throughout the Dark Ages, the Church of the Seven Obsidians.

The great Purifier who drove all non-human races and creatures of darkness to extinction, leading humanity and the Order to overthrow the source of darkness once and for all, and ending that age of despair.

Technically, the Holy Light Sequencer is their Witcher's superior leader.

During that great purification campaign, their secretly developed sequence was a divine weapon in the hands of the Church, invincible and unstoppable. A single Witcher squad was able to heavily damage a branch set up by the Shadow Council; Psi-Dragons, Blood Princes, Titans, Death Legions, and even Demons, everything the Council was proud of all fell at their hands in a world-shattering defeat.

Of course, the Witcher, as a thing feared even by the Creator, they were also liquidated in the worst possible way afterward, and not only were they subjected to the frantic retaliation of the remnants of the hostile forces, but even the other Order Transcendents were also in awe of them. Amid all sorts of indefensible curses, assassinations, suicide attacks, and persecution, the Witcher, who could not enter the sanctuary to seek refuge, withered rapidly, and even died out before the remaining hostile forces, completely disappearing.

The Witcher made a brief appearance in the mid-to-late Dark Ages... and disappeared without a trace, leaving fledgling Transcendents who made it through that period questioning whether or not this mythical sequence, was real.

Eleazar, who had read the magical books and knew the history of their sequence, realized that they had not really perished, but had simply become one with the shadows. They gave up all honor and became individuals, no longer connected, no longer interacting with other Transcendents, no longer obeying the Church, basking in the light, choosing to be alone with the darkness.

Just as Eleazar was silently reflecting on all of this, the speech on stage drew to a close.

"... In the years to come, I hope that you will be able to put aside your prejudices and put aside your preconceptions and that we will all coexist peacefully."

"Snap-"

Eleazar gently claps his hands in agreement as he booms the applause of the entire room.

That last statement sounded like a warning in his ears.

At the end of the ceremony, the student president, who was full of holy radiance, still stood at the lectern and watched everyone leave the stage with a smile on his face.

The clueless Eleazar looked back, then made eye contact with the calm gaze.

His heart nearly stopped, but he reacted quickly and quickly replaced it with an admiring gaze.

Pretending to be reluctant to turn back, the suppressed heartbeat then came to life and bounced around a bit.

"Damn it, even fishing for law enforcement and playing psychology."

Eleazar sheepishly looks around with his afterglow, then realizes that many of the people around him are acting the same way as he is, looking back with a bit of snugness.

He was inexplicably relieved to see so many gentlemen covering for him.

Walking out of the gym, students from each department began to triage.

Those who have classes can bring their textbooks and get ready to go to class, and those who don't can go to the library to study or sit in on other classes, even if they want to waste their time. In general, college is still looser and not as tight as it was in middle school and high school.

Eleazar pulled out his pocket watch and checked the time.

There were still ten minutes before the first period, and he might be able to get an early lunch if he moved quickly.

Eleazar, who wasn't feeling very hungry, looked around and found a random bench to sit on.

Looking at the students walking by in twos and threes in front of him, he had nothing to do with idleness anyway, so he flipped through the textbook again, intending to make sure that there was no capital in it for him to listen attentively first.

Just as Eleazar frowned and flipped through his textbook, two figures came to the front.

"What are you doing here?"

Eleazar looked up to see that it was Fina, accompanied by a petite girl with a figure that he didn't know whether to describe as barren or cute.

"Classes will start later, take a break here."

Eleazar made it simple and clear why he was sitting around killing time.

"Uh-huh."

Fina nodded and casually replied, "Remember to eat on time and take your meds on time, I'm off to class, bye."

"Oh, bye."

Eleazar waved and watched them both leave.

Seeing the short-haired girl beside her looking back at him frequently, he gave a polite nod of his head.

...

Rei retracted her gaze and pursued the question with a narrow smile:

"Boyfriend!?"

Fina glanced at her without acknowledging or refuting.

"Come on, let's go, we're going to be late."
