Chapter 8 - Departure

"I'm back!"

Grabbing two steaming cocoa cakes, Eleazar quickly returned to the waiting room.

Fina, who was obediently reading in her seat, looked up at the sound and glared at him.

"So slow!"

She snatched up the dessert.

"Slow down, watch out for the heat."

Eleazar looked at her with a helpless face.

"Oooh wah wah wah wah wah ah..."

Fina, who had something in her mouth, slurred something and threw a look.

Regular people can't understand it, but Eleazar, who grew up playing with it, does.

It means that he should go and buy a ticket quickly, so as not to delay the trip.

It's hard to muster up the courage to say goodbye to your family and start a long journey, but then to suddenly run back in the dust is just too much of a lack of atmosphere.

Armed with Fina's wallet, Eleazar went to the ticket window and stood in line.

By the way, I glanced at the fares on the wall.

Short distance: from $20

Midway: from $50

Long Distance: from $90

That's just the base fare, not counting seat fees.

Eleazar turns his head to look at Celine's map again.

The town of Crowe is 1570 kilometers away from the city of Dallon. ..1,570 kilometers, which is a long way to go, and there's only one trip a day, leaving at 11:00 sharp.

Hmmm... There's still time, no need to go back in the dust and ruin that sentimental mood.

Retracting his gaze from the hall clock, Eleazar looks again at the seat surcharge.

First class box: 200 RMB

Second class sleeper: $150

Third class seats: $100

NOTICE: There are no standing tickets for medium and long-distance travel.

Nibbling on a mouthful of sweet-to-the-touch cocoa cake, Eleazar mentally calculates the expenditure.

The seat fee plus the trip fee, totaling $290 a person, for two people, is 580, and counting the food and drink for the day and night, two people will spend at least $600!

His family's watch store, in a normal month of business, earns that much!

With 8,000 bucks on him, minus the $6,000 in tuition that he can't move, that means he's already spent a third of that before even getting to his destination...

After the calculation, Eleazar gave a bitter smile.

If he was on his own, it wouldn't have mattered if he bought a third-class seat and squeezed in with unfamiliar people, but now that he had Fina with him, he had to do everything in his power to give her the best he could, this was the responsibility of a man, which he had promised Fina's father in the first place...

Looking at the unmoving line, and the sounds of arguing coming from the front, a bored Eleazar does another calculation of the assets he now has.

In addition to the lab of unknown value, my father left behind a slumping store, cashier's checks from the Gold Shield Bank in denominations of one hundred thousand dollars, and a room full of poor-quality watches that he couldn't sell...

It's not inferior, it's just that my father's ability to sell watches was far too slow to keep up with the times, or maybe he just didn't have the heart to sell them at all, which resulted in that batch rotting in his hands.

"Well, go back someday and get a fracture price, clear out, and maybe get some blood back?"

100,000 may seem like a lot of money to most ordinary people, but Eleazar, who knows what he's doing, understands all too well that this fragile number can easily be lost with the slightest mishap.

The key to their promotion material appeared in the hands of others, people opened price of 30,000 he buys or not? Or does he follow the evil thought in his heart and cut the other person to death to snatch it?

It was their Witcher's trait to hate evil, and after too much of this, he might not be able to resist raising his sword and wiping his neck one day.

Messing with these thoughts, and feeling the unmoved remnants of the magic potion in his body, Eleazar let out a deep sigh.

People were eating from the bowl and looking at the pot the first magic potion hadn't even been digested yet, and their hearts were already thinking about the second one.

Raising his head and glancing at the line that crawled as if it were a tortoise, Eleazar took another bored nibble of his cocoa cake.

"Uh, sweet!"

A glance at the bite-sized filling skin reveals that it's full of boiled, sticky red beans.

Who the hell invented this heartless sweet...

Completely unable to eat, Eleazar glances back at the group and realizes that there are more people behind him.

This departure will require a new queue, which will drag on for a long time, and maybe Fina will be in iceberg mode again.

It would be too torturous to coax her to her destination.

He wasn't the only one who was waiting impatiently, and now and then someone in the long line poked their head out to look, and if their gaze could be used as a sharp arrow, the shrew at the front of the line, who was quarreling with the conductor, would probably have been riddled with holes by now.

By delaying dozens of people with his strength, I don't know how many people have cursed in their hearts.

After the security guards rushed over and forcibly took the shrewish older woman away, I don't know how many people clapped their hands.

The line resumed its normal processing speed and it was soon lined up for Eleazar.

"Good morning, where to please..."

"Daron City, first-class compartment, two people."

Feeling the somewhat cool dessert in her hand, Eleazar quickly stated the request.

"I'm sorry, but the first-class tickets for this train are sold out."

"Second class sleeper for two."

Eleazar had to settle for second best.

"I'm sorry, sir, but there are only third-class tickets available for this train today, and there are seven empty seats left."

What the hell? So many people on this train?

"There are 5 left, and window 3 just sold 2 more seats."

Not giving him time to think, the conductor added:

"2 left, windows 1 and 3 sold again..."

"Third class seats for two!"

No longer able to care, Eleazar rushes to grab a ticket.

The ticket agent glanced up at the remaining tickets on the digital sign and tapped his typewriter.

"Congratulations, you've grabbed the last two tickets for this train."

At the same time, a wail came from window #1 next to it.

Eleazar turned his head to see a fat man slumped over the counter, begging for his life.

Then soon after, he was forcibly taken away by two strong security guards.

So sad, but if he can't get a ticket today, he'll only end up worse off than he is, and Fina will probably not speak to him for days, treating him with relentless cold violence.

"Sir, that's $380..."

The voice of the ticket agent quickly withdrew him to the warm reality.

Eleazar pulls out his wallet, pays quickly, and waits for the tickets belonging to them to be printed.

"Well, here are your tickets, the train is inbound and waiting on platform 2, have a safe trip."

Taking the ticket, which still smelled like ink, and the thoroughly chilled cocoa cake, Eleazar returned to Fina.

"Tickets bought."

"Oh, how much?"

Fina took a ticket and looked through it with great interest for a moment.

"It's not expensive, come on, we can already get in the car."

Eleazar blurts back to her and picks up his bags.

"Right, you can eat this one, I can't."

"Waste!"

Fina glared at him and snatched the cocoa cake with a split hand, grabbing the hem of his shirt with one hand while concentrating on eliminating the sweet treat in front of her.
