Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 - An empty house

After a few days deflecting the town people Alana arrived at her new home.

The entrance was not protected there were no guards like in her uncle's manor. The gates were open, anyone could come in, the snow showed that were no footsteps, which means noone has been there in a while.

Still Alana walked in with caution since it has been snowing for a while any foot print could be easily covered.

As she arrived the entrance of the house the doors were unlocked, it was dark and cold inside.

Is true that owner of the house had died but there's always some servents awaiting for the masters familiares.

She was not impressed that noone received her, is not like she was expecting that she would be treated differently from her uncle's manor. Maybe they've already heard the rumors and fled not wanting to be related to a monster as their master.

She kept exploring the house, it seemed like it was ransacked , the forniture was thrown around some were broken, some were probably taken, since everything of no value was on the floor.

'Well I guess the house is completely empty, it will have to do for now, I can explore more as soon as I set in.' Alana eyes were glowing of happyness she finally had her own place were she could find her peace. For now she decided to rest.

The morning had arrived in spite of the sun outside it was hard to feel any warmth since it had snowed all day and night.

Alana found a set of warm clothes, they were male clothes but she didn't care at least she was warm again. She didn't sit idle she kept herself busy, first she cleaned and fixed the room she slept on after that she moved down to the kitchen, she wanted to fix everything she thought that would be essential.

The kitchen was big, but right now was empty there was nothing to eat everything must have been taken when it was abandoned by the servants. She found the stove, if she cleaned she could heat it something to eat.

Tera was dormant in hibernation so she couldn't count on her to Hunt.

She found a few pots, and cleaned them to make them ready for cook, since she was already feeling weak she needed to prepare something for herself. She was someone resourceful but with nothing around to eat was a little bit hard to make something for her to eat.

She thought to herself 'herbal soup will have to make do' she took some herbs from her Carrier and put in on the pot, she went outside to collect some wood and snow. The wood was wet so she would not be able to burn right away. She had to leave to dry, she collected as much wood as she could but she would still need them to dry so, she sighted to herself and went to explore the house a little more.

She found a big dining hall, she could see it was not used by the previous owner since the wall lacked of decorations. Normally the dining halls had either tapestry or heavy curtins to warm up the place.

She kept exploring and luckily she found some wood, she was almost giving up waiting for the wood to dry and wanted to burn some of the broken furniture, but the wood she found next to the fireplace in another room was enough to start a fire.

It was already past lunch time but since she hadn't eaten in last few days she didn't care. She added the water, from the snow she collected, in a pot. She looked at the patatoes that Luria had given to her, and wondered if she should use it to it, but she knew once she ate them it would be it.

They already had some roots sprouted it would be better to be strong and plant those roots so she could have more potatoes in the future.

Her herb soup was ready, she drank slowly to enjoy the frangance of the water- soup.

Unknown to her the smoke could be seen from the town which brought some curious eyes.

"Who's in our lord's house?"

"I don't know, do you think those bandits came back?"

"They took everything of value they could carry since they heard from our lord's death, I don't think they would be back so early" .

"Sorry my dear but I will go there anyway, we couldn't protect our masters house, what a shame of a butler I am for the family..."

"My dear we are old, there was nothing we could do in our masters absence, except to die."

"Well then so be it" said the old man Walking towards is late masters house.
