The tentacle retracted, dragging the girl towards the creature's monstrous body. Time seemed to slow down as he witnessed the horrifying fate that awaited her. The tentacle throw her towards the rows of jagged teeth lining the creature's center, and in an instant, her body was torn apart, reduced to nothing more than a gruesome pulp.
He could hear the horrified gasps and cries of those around me, their faces contorted in terror. The realization that no one was safe, that anyone could be the next victim, gripped all of them.. like a reminder of how fucked up situation is.

Suddenly, a woman appeared right in front of him and he realized he had no time to change direction. Reacting quickly, he managed to stretch out his hand and swiftly pull her to his side, both of them stumbling forward. The impact was lessened by the momentum of their movement.
He managed to maintain a firm grip on the woman, shielding her from the full force of the crash. He could feel something soft, something in the shape of an orange but softer than any round thing he had ever held before. The ecstasy of the moment made something ignite within him, and he didn't even bother to avoid the large tree that was in their way. He used his body to take the impact of the tree on his back while the woman remained in his embrace.
As they came to a stop, their bodies pressed against the tree. The chaos of the outside world seemed to fade away for a brief moment as their eyes locked. He could feel her rapid breaths along with her sweet fragrance. His eyes remained locked with hers, and a gust of wind swept between them, stirring strands of her hair and intertwining them with his black hair. In that moment, it felt like everything else had stopped around them and it was just the two of them.

In that split second, the massive tentacle crashed against the shield, its impact causing the shield to shudder with the force of the blow. The tree where they had sought refuge, caught in the path of the tentacle's destructive force, splintered and collapsed with an earth-shaking crash.
He quickly looked at the shield and realized it was still intact and it was changing its shape again. He realized that, as it could not hover in the sky, the tentacle had crashed into a tree, giving them a split second to move away.
The tentacle retreated and the shield had regained its form once again. He sighed and looked down, only to realize he was on her body.
She was also looking at the shield, but sensing him, she looked at him and for a moment, she was in a daze before realizing something that made her face turn red completely. She then looked down.
Seeing this, he was taken aback and looked down only to find his left hand grabbing something soft and squishy. His eyes widened in surprise and he unconsciously grabbed it a little harder, as if he wanted to make sure it was real.
