Chapter 8 - 8. Papa, I Want to Get Married

"How? What did he say? What did he ask for?" Brina asked enthusiastically, just after Luna hung up. She could only hear a one-way phone conversation, that is, only from Luna. She was left to guess as a result.

"It's moving really fast." With her voice low, Luna appeared to be speaking to herself.

"What's moving fast? What did he say?" asked Brina impatiently.

"Brina, this can't be argued anymore. Galen is definitely a billionaire."

"And you're so sure about that after calling him? What did he talk about? Come on, hurry up, and tell me." Brina whined out of genuine curiosity, and Luna laughed even more at her best friend's pitiable expression.

"He didn't seem panicked. He even gave tactical directions, along with all the possibilities. But... there's something more 'wow' than that."

"What is it?"

A mobile phone rang, interrupting Luna's story-telling intentions. She was surprised when she saw the caller's identity. Luna quickly picked up the call.

"Hello, Pa," Luna greeted first.

"Your mom just called and told me everything. I hope you're asking that just because you're emotional. This may be painful for you, but trust that what happens today you will be grateful for in the future," said Daniel, Luna's father.

With a painful expression, Luna stared at Brina. Her father was the same as her mother. Everyone took Leah and Joshua's marriage for granted. Nobody gave any attention to how she felt.

"I really do mean it, Dad. I'm getting married tomorrow." Luna said it firmly.

"Come on, you can't marry just anyone."

The lips of Luna were tightly sealed. She didn't like her father's voice's sarcastic tone.

"He's not just anybody, Pa."

"Who is he?"

"I'm not going to tell you now. I want the three of us to have dinner with him."

"It's just dinner, isn't it?"

"Not just dinner, Pa, but also talking about my marriage with him."

Luna asserted her wishes. She could tell that her father didn't agree with her wishes, and she wasn't set to back down.

"Does it have to be this hard?"

Her father, who appeared weary of dealing with her, could be heard breathing deeply, and Luna noticed it. The feeling of loneliness wounded Luna even more.

"Papa's daughters are two, and I also have wishes that should get the same attention as Leah."

On the other side of the phone, Daniel didn't seem to be able to help himself. As a father, he wanted to be fair. But he also didn't want his youngest daughter to do crazy things because of a painful situation.

Luna walked over to the window and sat glumly leaning on the frame.

"If Papa and Mama don't want to be involved with my life anymore, that's fine. I won't insist. Maybe you should just have one daughter. Leah is enough. I'll walk my own corridor."

Daniel took a deep breath. It was his youngest daughter's words that broke his heart the most. It was like Luna had assumed her parents had neglected her. Daniel felt a flood of guilt. Even though he was aware that Joshua was Luna's boyfriend, he had a role in allowing Leah and Joshua's marriage.

"What time are we having dinner and where?"

Luna, who had been sluggish, straightened up. Her spirit came back. She immediately mentioned the place and time. At one point, Daniel asked what Luna's future husband did for a job so he could invite them to dinner at a place he knew was an expensive eatery. But Luna kept it a secret until they had dinner together.

After hanging up, Luna checked the incoming message from Galen. It was a website link to a jewelry store as well as a branded clothing boutique. Luna was asked to choose the dress she liked for tonight and the jewelry the girl wanted for the engagement.

With renewed vigor, Luna shouted, "Brina!"

"Huh? What?" Brina was stunned to see her best friend approaching with carefree steps. She felt that her best friend had succeeded in her mission.

"Help me pick out a ring and dress for tonight. And you can't leave early; you have to help me get dressed for dinner," Luna replied with a playful twinkle in her eye.

"Wait, wait, wait, so you and Galen are going to keep this revenge thing going?"

"Yes," Luna replied firmly.

"But you don't know what made Leah stay away from Galen. It could be that he's too dangerous. Maybe... his game is sadistic."

Luna was speechless. It seems that she was seriously considering something.

"I'll make a contract before the wedding. There is to be no physical touching that goes too far until the divorce proceedings are due."

"Yes, it should be like that. It's just that it still doesn't feel strong. You're still not necessarily safe from him." Brina looked doubtful about Luna's plan. She was very worried about her best friend's situation if she had to live with an abusive man. Even though wealth was abundant, if it was evil, it was still scary.

"Ah, never mind. I can definitely take care of myself. And again, we've been assuming this has something to do with Leah. Even though Galen himself didn't tell me who he hurt, It could be about Joshua, right? Maybe it's business-related. I don't know.

Now, we must continue with our original plan. I've already talked about the wedding with Papa and Mama. I don't want to look silly just because I cancelled this deal. Help me with that, Bri."

Brina nodded and smiled. Her best friend had made her decision, and Brina would continue to support her. Moreover, Brina was also very angry that Leah and Joshua had the heart to break Luna's heart together.

"Yes, let's go to the jewelry store. We'll buy a pretty ring for your finger later." Brina winked one eye, teasing Luna's little laugh.

"Why go to a jewelry store? Galen gave me links to the websites of jewelry shops and boutiques. All I have to do is select them, and then they'll be delivered."

"Wow, how tactical! Take a look at the website," Brina pleaded.

The two friends then sat side by side on the bed. They picked, pointed, imagined, and then laughed happily. Even though it was just a photo, the rings felt real before their eyes, beautiful and shiny.

"Nothing cheap." Brina turned to Luna, who was still busy choosing. "Do you have the money to buy them?"

"I'm not the one who will pay for it. But Galen will buy it and pay for it for me."
