"Captain there is vessel bearing down on captain Maguire's position", reported liuetenant Tanaka sitting at the communications console.
"We 'll just have to make sure we get to him first", said acting captain Lucinda.
"I 'm afraid that won't be possible, they seem to have got a headstart and are closer to his position than we are", reported lieutenant Tanaka looking up from the console before him.
"How are far are we from the other vessel?", captain Lucinda asked.
"Let me just say at present speed we 'll be reaching captain Maguire at the same time. But they will reach him slightly ahead of us", said lieutenant Tanaka.
"Maybe we can not reach him before that vessel, but we can give him advance warning of what is coming his way", said captain Lucinda wiping out her hand held communicator, she tapped on the transmit.
Captain Maguire's attention was drawn to the vibrating communicator on his utility belt. Retrieving the device, he tapped on the accept icon.
"Sandawana to captain", acting captain Lucinda's voice came clearly over the device.
"Go ahead Sandawana", he replied.
"A chaldarian warship is headed your way", she announced speaking with a sense of urgency.
"How far are you from my position?", he asked.

"We are only a few minutes away but I 'm afraid, the chaldarian starship is closing on you much faster", explained captain Lucinda. I suggest you hide and buy us time to get to you. Sandawana out", said captain Lucinda ending the transmission.
"Is there some other route we can take?", captain Maguire asked Kydo.
"This is the only route", replied the humanoid.
"We must get off the road and hide", captain Maguire announced.
"No we shall stay on the course", insisted princess Elantra.
"A chaldarian starship is heading in our way on an intercept course",
"We proceed to the power outlet on mountain peak. Everything depends on it captain", princess Elantra insisted with emphasis. My fleets are based on the twin moon, Alphos and Dyra
A powerful laser ray just missing th ground vehicle slamming into the winding path ahead told of the arrival of the chaldarian starship. Lasers rained down forcing Kydo to display exceptional driving skill as the vehicle swerved left and right to avoid being hit.
"Captain, chaldarian starship just ahead. It is firing at captain Maguire's position", reported lieutenant Tanaka.
"On screen", ordered captain Lucinda and the image of a the chaldarian starship firing a relentless barrage of lasers at fleeing vehicle on the surface.
"Pilot bring us in to intercept, put us between that starship and the ground vehicle, captain Lucinda ordered lieutenant Tashinga at the flight control console.
"Weapons deploy electro magnetic pulse shield", acting captain Maguire ordered lieutenant Alex Bara as the Sandawana moved to come between the chaldarian starship and the ground vehicle.
"Weapons prepare to fire on my command", captain directed lieutenant Alex Bara.
A huge object suddenly came into view over head blocking out the sun and blanketing the vehicle beneath its massive shadow.
"It's another starship, exclaimed Kydo at the controls of the ground vehicle".
"It's the Sandawana!", said captain Maguire excitedly. "It is protecting us".
"Get ready to lift shield and fire, on my command, ordered captain Lucinda.
The ground vehicle raced up the mountain path unmolested and came to a stop at the entrance to a spacious cave.
"Stay inside the vehicle", princess Elantra announced out of the blue. "From here I will proceed alone", she said getting out of the vehicle. She walked towards two pillars just a several meters ahead further into interior of the cave, and placed the palm of her hands on top of each pillars.
Princess Elantra began to glow with energy as the power coursed through her body.
"Byda, one mind conciousness many bodies", she began speaking calmly. As spoke dormant bodies of crew members laying in suspended animation aboard the assembled starships of the Bydanian fleets were waking up at at their various duty posts.
"Byda's faces the threat of invasion by the chaldarian order. Rise to the defence of our world". As she spoke her increased in pitch conveying the urgency of the situation. "For the sake of our Byda, one mind many conciousnessnes. Rise to your duty and defend Byda!", as she finished speaking starships of the Bydanian 1st, 2nd, and 3rd fleets were rising from bases on the moons of Alphos and Dyra.
The Sandawana was engaged in battle, all it's weapons systems were firing at the starships of the chaldarian armada as they charged from the direction of the city. It's lethal lasers smashed into the attacking vessels slicing through them. While it kept up a relentless barrage of missiles that hit home at the tightly packed formation of chaldarian vessels blowing them up in spectacular supernova explosions. Littering the Bydanian sky with the burning and crippled starships of the chaldarian order as they fell to planet's surface with angry flames greedily leaking away at the burning hulls.
"Captain, they are too many we can not take them all on", said lieutenant Alex Bara at weapons control. His full attention on the instrument panel before him as more chaldarians starships came at them as though oblivious to the Sandawana's fierce firepower.
"Noted", replied acting Lucinda taking out her hand held communicator.
"Sandawana to captain", she greeted speaking into the device with a sense of urgency.
"Captain speaking", came across captain Maguire's voice over the communicator.
"There are too many hostiles. We have to withdraw immediately and call Space command for support".
"Captain Maguire emerging from the vehicle approached princess Elantra where she stood between the two pillars.
"Princess we need to go, now!", he urged. "The mountain is no longer safe. It will soon be surrounded by chaldarian ships".
"I need a little more time, the fate of my world depends on it. Bydanian fleets from the twin moons of Alphos and Dyra approach. I can not detach from the earth source or all will be lost", insisted princess Elantra."But if you must leave, go but I will remain. My people need my guidance at this critical moment in time".
"Captain to Sandawana, you will hold your position, help is the on the way", said captain Maguire speaking into the communicator. Hoping that he was making the right decision. The orders he had received from admiral Gwangwa were clear. He was to hold off any attempted alien invasion until the other starships of the Deep space fleet could come to support. Still a voice a the back of his head insisted that he should convince princess Elantra to return with him to the Sandawana.
But she had made her position clear and he aware that there was nothing he could say or do convince her otherwise.
