Nina couldn't remember anything but the darkness. It seemed to be her only friend at times and it surrounded her, encompassing all of her senses and leaving her defenseless.
She didn't know where she was or how she had got here, but she had to admit that it did feel nice. All of a sudden, she spotted a bright light in the distance as she furrowed her eyebrows and found herself heading towards it.
She felt her body pulse with curiosity as she reached out to touch it and she was instantly blinded by a bright light before she was sent falling through the air.
She felt something cold beneath her as she let out a groan and was able to pull her eyes open. She furrowed her eyebrows, looking around her to find herself in a dark cave. She hurried to her feet as she tried to concentrate hard and remember how she had gotten there.
She didn't have much to think about it as she felt a burning pain in her chest. A shiver ran down her alone as she realized that the cave was covered in snow and so it was freezing cold. She had to get out of there before she found herself freezing to death.
She stumbled out of the cave as she noticed a warm breeze. It was strange the sheer contrast between the two. She was frozen in her spot as she heard the sound of a loud howl coming from behind her.
But she knew that wasn't the sound of a wolf. She had to get out of there. She found a lot of foliage of trees in the distance and she felt her heart race as she made her way towards them and she attempted to hide behind one of the trunks. She could feel her heart racing against her chest as she willed it to be steady.
But her eyes nearly fell out of her head when she met a great furry blur and this was no wolf. It was a different type of monster. It had a muscular build like that of a human, but he had the snout of a wolf and glowing red eyes. It walked on two legs with claw-like fingers.
She had never seen anything like it before, but its sight caused a sense of fear to run through her. She watched as he was about to walk away but then he froze as she watched him sniff the air around her as though he would sense her fear. She pulled her eyes closed as she hoped for it all to be over.
She listened to it howl loudly as he began to run suddenly towards the east as it fell onto all fours. She looked at its retreating figure in confusion as she feared what it was that it had run away from. If anything was certain, it was the fact that she didn't want to be anywhere near what he had run from, but it was trying to get away from the west and she should have been actively trying to do the same.
She was only able to pull away from the tree moments later as she felt the palpating of her heart against her chest decrease. Whatever this ace
She was most likely at the bottom of the food chain and she had to get to safety before night fell.
She decided to head towards the west as she knew that it was more likely that she wouldn't meet the beast in that direction. She felt as though she had been walking for days endlessly until she spotted what appeared to be a large fire in the distance.
She smiled as she hoped that she would find some people there. But then she felt an overwhelming pain in the back of her head. She let out a loud cry from her lips as she fell to her knees and clutched her head.
She felt all of her memories come back towards her full force. The betrayal that Christopher had caused her. The fall of her pack and, in the end, Christopher killed her. She struggled to breathe for a moment before pulling her eyes open and when she looked down at her chest there was a prominent scar over her heart.
It wasn't possible she was supposed to be dead, which was why it didn't make any sense to the fact that she was here now, alive and well. She had to find people and get to safety. Because if this was the afterlife, she surely must be in hell.
With the new realization, she found her heart racing as she moved faster towards the source of the flame. She could hear the sound of fear racing against the ground behind her and she screamed as she thought the beast had returned to claim her.
She wasn't about to get eaten. As she came to a stop in front of a large set of gates, she felt herself falling down as a sense of fatigue came over her. She heard footsteps approaching her and she willed them to stay away.
She could hear muffled voices around her as she tried to open her mouth to speak and tell
Then to stand back from her. "What are you doing in Lycan territory". She heard a voice call out.
Lycan.
That was what that beast was. The same one that had crippled her father and torn apart half her pack. She was in their hands now and she feared what they would do to her. She gulped as she watched those red eyes stare back at her and she could have sworn she saw the ghost of a smile on the man's face.
