Chapter 42 - Mind's Eye

The energy of the skies was far different from that of the land. The powers of the land come directly from the natural laws produced by the world truth. These laws all possess a bit of the world's essence, so they exist in the physical plane. On the other hand, sky power preludes the universe! The mysterious forces of the heavenly void could reshape the mortal body to make it capable of extraordinary things.

The Sages of the hero used origin power to do this. This was only one sky.

The Titan Clan could temper their bodies using a more stellar power of the heavenly void! This was possible mainly due in part to twilight. Once the twilight acknowledged the Titan Clan, their ability underwent startling changes.

Jody never knew there was a heavenly void or any magic within. This mysterious twilight power seemed to be able to reshape fate. Who was the True Pharaoh of Twilight, and why was he watching Jody? Jody almost felt like this was a video game world.

How could there be something so good in real life?

He told himself that he must master this power of twilight. However, this was easier said than done, as it seemed to require a very high level of comprehension.

"Refining the body first is fundamentally correct. The meta-human training was the same. We were forced to go through torturous experiments and training to improve the conditions of our bodies so that they could better withstand our abilities. This would make us sharper weapons. Abilities...it seems we did not understand them in the first place. Origin Body…laws and force…the Truth... so much knowledge had been lost. Well, no matter what, to gain the energy of internal might, the Titanic Rage force, I must first endure the pain of tempering my physique."

Little Jody held the serene sound mirror in his hand as he closed his eyes in meditation.

During the last six months, he had repeated this posture every night as he tried with all his focus to sense the energies of the earth and the heavens. Now, he also wanted to perceive the mysteries of the serenity glass. The magic mirror was a nifty device, but he couldn't even use it independently, as he did not understand the powers that moved it. He knew that he would need a deep understanding of the laws that created this material in the future.

Best to study early.

Jody was searching for a supernatural feeling. At first, he felt nothing but bored when he meditated. After contemplating it for a few hours, he started to feel a mysterious tingle run through his body. Almost as if he had just run out of something he was using, causing him to become irritable and lose focus after.

Jupiter Titan's memories of twilight power taught Jody what was happening. This was his concentration.

It was an aspect of spiritual strength.

The spirituality attribute couldn't be easily monitored or developed. This feeling of his concentration draining and recovering became an addiction. Jody knew that this was his spiritual power awakening. By expending concentration, he was trying to discover his spiritual senses.

Whenever he felt the little tangle of supernatural feelings, his head would ache severely, and then his concentration power would rapidly deplete. He could detect some mental barrier preventing his progress. It felt as if he was driving straight into a concrete wall with a Ferrari going over 100 mph.

His focus would eventually be explosively smashed to pieces, forcing him out of meditation.

Jody was pleased to discover that his power reserves would increase noticeably every time he recovered from exhausting his concentration power.

Although the titan genius' memories suggested this would happen, it shouldn't be as noticeable as it was. Jody was mentally prepared to spend years doing this, hoping to accomplish it by age four. Now, he would have to adjust his pace. It took him much longer to run out of the spiritual power of concentration than when he first started meditating.

Finally, the day came when that wall he crashed into every night had finally collapsed! His rickety, old, busted-down Ferrari sputtered its way through at last. After passing through the wall, it suddenly upgraded into a brand new model, zooming away into the distance.

Just as his spiritual power was running out, little Jody managed to have his first formula breakthrough! He successfully reached the first level of Spiritual Force and discovered his Spiritual Sense.

'Spiritual Sense…' For a moment, little Joe was too excited and lost in thought. 'I bet my dad would shit himself if he knew I had already reached the first level of Spiritual Sense. How old am I again? This is awesome. I have to gain access to the family library. There is too much I'm unfamiliar with. Knowledge is the base of power and the key to advantage. I must learn about the customs and cultural norms of Gaea. Otherwise, I may invite a calamity onto myself if I stand out too much.'

Twilight flashed in Jody's mind as his thoughts were dragged to a black space with nothing but a furry little twilight fairy-like bug thing. A series of ancient characters floated around the creature. They became a seven-colored prompt, and Jody somehow understood them.

[Welcome back to the Twilight Hunt!]

'235 Stars and 400 Crystals are available.'

'Spend five stars to awaken the Mind's Eye?'

[Yes/No?]

"Yes!" Jody immediately accepted the price of the ability.

He didn't know what it was, but how could a twilight-gifted power be bad?

He was thrilled beyond belief that he wasn't dreaming before. There was really a twilight proxy with him! He couldn't sense the creature's incorporeal form without Spiritual Sense. The Spiritual Sense was the first level of soul development. Without arousing his Spiritual Sense, it was impossible to differentiate the energies of sky and land.

Twilight imps seemed purely made of such sky power. The Mind's Eye ability could detect or 'see' such energy and manipulate it. The mind's eye had various cool functions from Jupiter Titan's memories. These were powers beyond the restrictions placed on the mortal truth, and most mortals typically had no way of coming into contact with them. Only those who choose to pursue the heights of power and abandon the mundane are considered worthy.

When Jody accepted the bargain, his mind was invaded by a searing migraine that sent him tumbling into unconsciousness. Twelve hours later, he awoke in agony but soon closed his eyes and entered a trance-like state. His mind's eye opened to an unimaginable realm filled with undulating multicolored clouds of light-like layers of oceanic waves floating through the air.

He felt as if he existed in two places at once; one world he was looking at, and the other an ethereal environment he seemingly inhabited.

"The ethereal plane…" Jody marveled at this feeling. He could sense that next to him was his twilight proxy.
