Jody's first time using the mind's eye to inspect his body left him in awe. The heroic body was indeed a marvel. It looked like a miniature galaxy up close. There were twelve light spheres throughout his body with many more tiny lights around them, like twelve planets in a starry expanse. According to his father, these were life nodes and aiguilles.
In Jody's past life, they would have just been called chakras or meridians.
If one looked closely, all of these millions of stars seemed to be the embryonic form of something. This differed from the sky-slaughter race's body composition, but there were similarities. Titans had only ten life nodes and not half or a third of these aiguilles.
After investigating for a while, Jody slowly figured out the main difference.
Different major organs!
Sky-slaughterers had two hearts, and the only other common organ between their races was the stomach. He then observed his skin and found some remnant astral energy mingling with his blood energy. It was almost as if…
'It seems that some of the heavenly energy remains after the astral quenching. In that case, I should continue to quench my skin. I feel incredible already!' Thought the toddler little Lord.
Previously, he was worried about explaining his injuries. Now, he was shocked that he had recovered so swiftly, and this seemed unreal. 'It seems my previous life's meta-ability has world-traveled with me? Thanks to the power of Twilight, the effects seem greater than before. With this, how difficult will it be to kill in the future? How strange… yet excellent.'
Jody couldn't help but be reminded of Sansa's words before he was pushed into the spiraling tunnel of after life.
"It is not my body that is special, but my soul..."
In the following three months, Jody would spend his days accompanied by his mother or Kamila. Whenever his father joined them at dinner or visited his mother and himself, Jody would take every opportunity to spam his old man with questions about the outside world. Occasionally, his father would take him around for the day. After all, Jody was never allowed to roam much further than his mother's courtyard, and usually, the creepy butler was the only one around.
The House Lord took great pleasure in his son's thirst for knowledge, for this was the mark of a true-born Sage! Thus, he continued to pour knowledge into the mind of his son. Although Josiah was far from grasping the truth, everything started with its foundation. Eventually, Lord Trillwolf allowed the first lady to bring the little boy to the estate's main grounds so he could be with his son more. The decision faced limited opposition but was eventually approved.
Although this wasn't the House's custom, Osiris had at least this much authority as the Lord of the House. Thus, Jody became acquainted and familiar with all the essential officials and delegates of the House. His daily schedule then shifted to accompanying his mother as she handled her affairs around the estate. At night, he would resume his law practice.
Whenever his mother expanded her Spiritual Sense to check on her son, she saw him deep in meditation, seemingly cultivating, with heavenly energy flows surrounding him. Each time, she would be greatly shocked.
Isis didn't fear her son to be an imposter. Those blue eyes were the same as the day he was born. She hadn't been ignorant of the shock and intelligence in the boy's infantile gaze when her son first laid eyes on her. Had there been even the slightest inappropriate action or discomfort in those eyes, she would have likely eliminated Josiah herself.
No one else could touch him without suffering her wrath, fallen or not.
Even now, as Jody practiced, Isis could see that he was under the impression that no one could see him. The boy was utterly defenseless, ignorant of the world. How could this be anyone but the brat she was raising? An imposter wouldn't behave this way, for this was pure ignorance.
The brat clearly didn't understand the world despite his strange behavior. As the Frozen Night Master, how could Lady Isis not be aware of her son's actions if she chose to be? She sensed three heavenly energies in her son's room, one so esoteric and startling that she dared not even think of it. She wanted her son to be strong, but the boy was only two.
He would hurt himself like this!
When bringing this oddity up to Lord Osiris, the latter laughed boisterously in praise of his son. Lady Isis felt helpless and could only try to persuade the Lord with some methods.
"To think, the boy sees me meditating a few times, then constantly asks about it in great detail. Now, he is meditating himself! Heavenly aura, huh...very well. You should… wow… you should not worry, my beautiful muse." Lord Osiris held Lady Isis' chin while he spoke to her gently, making her blush and avert her gaze. From the opposite side of the desk, one could only assume that lord Osiris was speaking into a serene sound mirror in his lap. "There have been… whispers… ah.
"Rumors… of Fallen who were born in that condition. They only possess fragmented memories, and the main soul is still united. These fragmented memories guide their early actions. Yes, my wife, this is good for little Joe. What level of spiritual strength could the child possibly have? However, now that he meditates so early, perhaps that may change! If these fragmented memories give him an extra boost in life, then so be it."
Lord Osiris leaned back in his main study, initially reviewing the House's financial reports. Soon, his wife came to visit, saying very little before demanding to serenade Osiris using his personal microphone. Reclining in his chair, his eyes occasionally drifted into a daze as he stared out the window at Kamila and Josiah, who played in the courtyard below.
"I am just worried, my lord… mmm, he is just a small boy, and I fear he's developing a bit too fast," came Isis' voice from under the desk. After a few breaths, gulps, slurps, and pauses, she continued, "You even gave him a stalk of Morning Spirit Grass! Do you know what haste makes waste means? Are you trying to worry me?"
"It's one stalk, and my conservative explanation would not be enough to teach him the refinement method. Knowing he doesn't know how to refine it also put my mind at ease. It is good that he shows such competence and interest in the mystic way so early.
Indeed, this was an excellent method to test as well. Isis rolled her eyes but soon resumed her previous task. She seemed to be quite into it, as the sounds were colorful.
"This… ah. I say this child of ours is simply a true… a true genius. He will be an incredible Disaster Wizard one day. Let's be honest; the credit is yours. It seems necessary to give you another child…" Lord Osiris gave Lady Isis a lascivious smile, making her blush deeper and perform more enthusiastically.
Meanwhile, Jody was oblivious to his parents' private matters and being spied on. It never occurred to him that the spiritual powers of his elders would be so much more potent than his own.
Actually, their having spiritual powers at all didn't occur to him. He was currently using his own spiritual powers to spy on his dad's second wife in the wash house. How he would react if he knew Lylian Trillwolf had the highest spiritual threshold in the House was a wonder. She noticed the immature spirit sense looking at her, but after identifying the owner, she directly dismissed it.
Startling as it was that the child had awakened senses, this was the same child who was mastering a language that still gave her trouble. Would anything he accomplished be surprising?
Later that night, Jody sat in the lotus position in his bedroom, his mind buried in formulation. He could see new variations of the sky and land flowing around his room through his mind's eye. One of the only features of the Twilight System that Jody could access was the Enlightenment Hall.
With the Enlightenment Hall, Jody could isolate land power with Twilight and break down its composition before reconstructing it from Twilight. It would then become a study guide stored in the system's Enlightenment Hall and improved over time. Jody could comprehend forces much quicker with such guides.
Notably, a frigid yet calming energy was isolated by Jody to study. Anytime the energy went through his pores, Jody would feel like he just got covered in a layer of ice. The child didn't hesitate to guide the silver-pink power into his skin, constantly tempering his flesh with it. His flesh healed rapidly thanks to his natural physique and the medicinal force coming from the stalk of Morning Spirit Grass his father gave him.
By doing this, the heavenly light that fused with his flesh after each quenching nearly tripled! Such medicinal herbs were like gold, and Jody would have probably smoked it if he was older. Back on modern earth, Jody would quickly refine different medicinal plants by rolling the ground flower petals up in hemp, igniting one end, inhaling from the other, and exhaling impurities.
Jody could tell his body was changing, slowly beginning a transformation. Due to his unique ability to withstand the torturous pain of tempering his flesh with raw energy, he was becoming more abnormal by the day. Unbeknownst to anyone, this simple daily lifestyle would one day be responsible for the birth of a legend. Though Jody acted impulsively due to his inexperience, his instincts led him down a road no human on this planet had traveled before.
