When we got back to her place. I was the definition of sore and it seemed that nothing exactly took my mind off the silly heartbreak so Ivy proposed a better solution which was 'more distraction'
"Let's go to the mall!"
She muttered and I was very very unwilling to move my body but she was pulling me by the arms to get my body off the bed. "What is it?"
I whined and she was shaking her head at me as she picked out more decent clothing for me. "You had better dressed nicely. You don't know where you might meet your Prince Charming"
I scuffed. "Enough with the Prince Charming ruse. It's not working"
"Whatever"
She muttered throwing a blue gown toward me. It fell over my head and she was grinning. "Oops. Sorry"
I rolled my eyes and pulled it off my face and was soon forcing my body into the tight dress. It took us a total of twenty minutes to get ready, and when we did, we were escaping through the back door which was because Natasha had restricted us from going out except we arranged her mountain of books back into the shelves. I didn't have the strength to do that neither did Ivy.
Once we were outside and successfully made it out the gate. We were giggling like baby criminals and Ivy was slapping me across the arms. "See. You're already getting rid of that heartbreak"
I nodded slowly, realizing that she might be right. Perhaps. All I needed to do was find a good distraction. We made it toward her car and before I knew it, we were out of the luxurious view of her house. She was playing loud music in her car and I was singing along and pretending to be the next Celine Deon.
The drive took nothing less than another fifteen minutes before she pulled up in front of the gigantic mall. The walls were made of glass and it only stopped when it was about to kiss the sky. The sunset shone its rays all over the structure, creating something out of the ordinary. The beauty suddenly looked surreal, like something out of a Disney show.
I pulled open the door, eyes sparkling at the hustle and bustle outside the area and ivy snickered. "It's a busy day"
"Yeah. It is"
I responded with eyes squinting at the sight after a few moments, Ivy and I joined the crew. We made our way toward the door, soon standing on the escalator and my eyes were bouncing around. I've been here a lot, yet, this place still manages to keep me amazed whenever I come around.
"First things first. The make-up arena"
Ivy whispered into my ears and my eyes widened in an instant. The last time we came here, she was drawing monstrous things on my face in an attempt to create a pampering look for me which even managed to frighten a baby into tears. I cleared my throat. "Okay, but this time, no pampering looks"
She snapped her eyes to me and I wasn't liking the gaze she was giving me so I added. "Please.."
She held my arms in hers, pulling me towards the supposed section. "Oh..come on. I've groomed my skills over these few months"
Key-word few. "Technically then, you still need more training"
I supplied and she was shaking her head and protesting. "No. I don't"
"Have you forgotten that I'm the leader of the cheerleading team"
I frowned. "And that applies in what way?"
"If I can handle cheerleading. I'm very sure that I can handle your face"
My frown deepened. "You really want me to be the one to tell you that cheerleading and make-up are absolutely two different things"
She scuffed. "Oh…please"
I tried to yank my arms away from her grip seeing that there was no use even trying to speak with her but she was tightening her hold. "Remember. I'm only doing this because you've got a broken heart so don't annoy me"
That was enough to get me to stay put though not without a frown. When we got into the section. It was the same woman of the other day. She gave us a look over and I was almost so sure that she could recall our faces especially after Ivy created a huge mess on my face. I spent hours trying to get rid of the makeup in the bathroom the next day.
"Hello. You're welcome"
The woman uttered in a very rehearsed tone. "Hi"
Ivy spoke enthusiastically. "We want to try the make-up kits for uhm..two hours"
Two what-?
I gasped, watching her pay for the service in horror and soon, the woman was giving us the go-ahead. Ivy turned to me and flashing her lashes at me. "Shall we?"
We spent most of our time in the frustrating make-up room. Ivy painted my face like a furkin' canvas and it was gradually becoming funny especially the time when her hands shook and she accidentally took the eyeliner a distance mid-way to my cheek.
I was laughing because it was ticklish against my skin and also because I knew I looked anything but human. I was still giggling when a guy. Dark curls, piercing green eyes, tall height, perched nose, and a total appearance of someone I thought I might have seen vaguely at school came walking inside.
Our eyes fixed and he was looking me over like I was a specimen and maybe right now, I was. I was pretty aware of what I must look like. His eyes slowly moved from mine to ivy's and there was a better glint in his eyes. Then he smiled. "Hey. Ivy"
Ivy smiled back and waved at him. "Crap. Wrong section."
I later heard him utter underneath his breath as he made his way out of there and my eyes widened more every passing second with my mouth hung open. "He is from our school, right?"
I turned to glance at Ivy and she was nodding slowly and apologetically. I couldn't believe that I just embarrassed myself and with a stranger for that matter.
After that devastating embarrassment, I told ivy that I had had enough and this time, she didn't argue with me. We spent the remaining part of the day walking aimlessly around the mall and checking on things we didn't need. Ivy even took it so far as to buy some useless arm massage. I thought it was a pirated version and by the time we were walking out the door at around the evening, one of the fingers of the arm massage had fallen off.
"I can't believe that I was duped"
I snickered a laugh. "For the record. I told you not to buy it"
She gritted. "Thanks for reminding me"
I winked. "You're welcome. Honey"
We made our way into the car and she was roaring it to life. Ivy was still more energetic than me and was trying to engage me in some discussions but I ended up dosing off on the chair. Ivy was tapping me awake after the drive and my lids were slowly fluttering open.
I looked up to see that we have arrived at my place. I grinned tiredly at her and muttered a wispy 'thank you'
"Anytime"
She muttered, knowing that I wasn't only thanking her for the ride home but for being there for me throughout this stupid heartache. I got down from the car, waving at her one last time before making my way into my house.
The house was dark and the presence of millions of maids greeted me instead of my parents. No one needed to tell me that they were out for business again. I waved at my favorite maid who was clearing up the cans at some route in the house. She glanced back at me and smiled but within her eyes, I could see pity whirling inside them.
She was probably wondering how I coped with my parents not being often around. Who did I speak to? How did I spend my time? If not for Ivy and her family, I sincerely didn't think that I'd make it this far.
I sighed internally, making my way into my sky-blue-coloured room. Blue was my favorite color. I love all shades of blue and so my things naturally shifted between all blue types. For instance, my pillows were darker blue while the sheets were lighter. I dumped myself on the cozy bed, allowing an air to make its way out of my lips.
I stared at the ceiling for a while. Thinking over everything that has happened in the space of two weeks. It all felt surreal. Truth be told, I still felt heartbroken but not as bad as before. I believed that if I managed to avoid my ex' I could survive my last year of school without crumbling all over again. I stud up to switch my room's light off before tucking myself underneath the sheets and trying to find sleep again.
