The day went in a blur, and we were currently inside the cafeteria, eating. Ivy was trying to steal my French Fries and I gritted at her, slapping her hands away. "Stop it"
She laughed, wiggling her brows at me, before suddenly uttering. "Hey!"
"Are you sure that you don't want to join the cheerleading team?"
I gave her that eyes and she shrugged. "I'm just saying since this is our last year. You know, the whole face-your-fears something"
"No. Thank you. I think I'm great this way"
She chuckled with eyes walking over me in amusement. "You're so funny, you know?"
"I didn't know that"
"And cute too"
I groaned. "What? This is compliment day?"
She snickered a laugh, with eyes bouncing along the cafeteria for a while, and then uttering. "I really wonder why Liam broke up with you. He is such an idiot"
I felt pain stung against my heart from just the mention of his name and as much as I did not want to hear his name. I had to address the fact that he was one of Ivy's friends. I sighed. "You don't have to give him the cold shoulder because of me"
She gritted. "Of course. I have to"
"I...I just don't want more drama than there already is"
She looked at my eyes and saw a pleading glint whirling inside them and was sighing. "You're such a good girl"
"Whatever." She eyed my frame. "I'm sure that you can get a good guy that would cherish you"
"Awww"
I reached forward to stretch her cheeks like some elastic band and she was trying to get out of my grip. Then she was babbling. "I..know I shouldn't have..made your..head swell"
I was giggling and by the time the siren rang through the atmosphere. We were making our way out of the cafeteria for the next period. Ivy and I grabbed our books from our lockers and then walked down to our class together.
Time seemed to skip into what usually used to be my best part of the day but now, I didn't exactly care anymore. I honestly just wanted to go home and have a good night's rest. I was in front of my lockers, grabbing my things to head to my club meeting.
It was a new year which meant different things for everyone. For Ivy, it meant cheerleading practice for the upcoming basketball matches and for me, it meant acting practice for the upcoming school play.
Arggh.
I sighed within. As much as I loved acting I didn't think I had the energy to do it this year and battling that I couldn't with our play director, Mr.Owen was not what I looked forward to. I was always the star actress and I loved that position until now. Crap.
I cursed with blue eyes bouncing around trying to spot Ivy but every corner was clear of her. I figured that the energetic side in her must have dragged her down to the cheerleading practice room which meant that I too had better get down to where I belonged. I walked my tired limbs a distance to the acting club arena, soon, I was arriving in front of the door. Once I jerked it open and was greeted by the sight of really familiar faces—the ones I had acted the last year's school play with and I was groaning internally.
I just recalled that I in fact had a very strained relationship with some people here, one of such was Heather with the ponytail, she had wanted the main casting last year but she couldn't surpass my wonderful acting and was removed.
She still gave me the stinky eyes up till today and another was, Jennifer, some white chick from Canada. When it came to casting for appearance we were always competitors. She had blonde hair like mine, really rosy lips while mine was a bit pale but—I had my blue ocean eyes a plus over her regular brown eyes so I technically stole the crowd away. Let's just say that she is not cool with me, not to say the h-word.
So..who were the people that liked me? I called them my acting pals. Rosa, a black American with double eyelids. We always argued about her real origin. I mean, the people who had double eyelids were mostly the Koreans. Speaking of Koreans, I had a Korean buddy too, His name is Min Joon. He said that it meant clever and talented but he was always disturbing me so I changed his name to Min-u
Just to annoy him of course and last of all, there was our California girl, Emma. She was almost like Ivy but some things stud out their uniqueness. For instance, Emma was more outspoken. Now, you may find that funny. I mean, could there be anyone more outspoken than Ivy?
Oh..there was. She was the life of the party. Always bubbling around doing this and that. She called it the California girl spirit and not to forget, she was the president-assistant.
It was surprising how Ivy and I managed to keep our friendship even when our lives didn't totally evolve around each other. Ivy also had her own cheerleading pals though I haven't met them before while she's met Rosa, Emma, and Min Joon occasionally. I thought that if she got to spend more time with them, especially Emma, they were sure to be great friends.
I was still standing in front of the door somewhat lost in between my thoughts, when Emma waved at me obviously spotting me first. "Come over, Jamie"
"We've been waiting for the star actress"
She teased and I was almost so sure that I heard Jennifer snort from wherever she was standing. Emma also caught that and was giving her a side glance. I rolled my eyes and walked into the club. "What's up, girl ?"
Rosa muttered, raising her hands out and I clapped it with a smirk playing against my lips well—until Min Joon uttered.
"eotteohge jinaeseyo"
I was soon pointing my fingers at him. He did all the time. "Min-u, don't start now. Just speak English, okay?"
I flashed my lashes at him and he was chuckling for a while before uttering. "How many times would I correct you? It's Min Joon"
He said it like as if we were back in crèche. I snickered a laugh. "Min Joon"
I mocked. "Are you happy now?"
He gave me an unamused eye. "I only said it that way so you could get it"
I thought that he might be taking that too personally so I apologized in an instant. "Sorry. I was just kidding"
"No worries!"
He muttered and Rosa was yawning. "Enough with the husband and wife drama"
"What the—"
I wanted to hit her and she was giggling so much and Emma was backing her up. "Of course. You both always argue the hell out of everything"
I gave her a small smile. "Huh huh. Now. I know why"
Rosa arched a brow. "Why what?"
"Why you frickin' place my sit next to his all the time"
They were both giggling because I caught on to their conspiracy and was slapping my forehead after a while. Min Joon on the other hand was laughing too obviously finding it funny. I squinted my eyes at him and he was smirking at me. "Trust me, we are platonic"
I nodded wanting to tease him back and I uttered playfully. "You're right. I know the girl that you like. It's rosa"
After my words a thick awkward silence forward. It was almost as if I let the cat out of the bag. I frowned, looking in between them and Emma was just as confused. After a while, Emma cleared her throat wanting to change the topic.
"Right. Where is our director? We've been chatting since we got here?"
I frowned. I was the president of the club which meant I was responsible for this. Where was Mr. Owen again?
My frown deepened when Emma suggested. "Perhaps, you should check him in his office"
I hated going anywhere near the teacher's staff room. I blinked. Did I really have to check him now?
Just as I was pondering on what to do, the bald hair-man-owen walked into the room, very leisurely as if nobody had been waiting for him to show up, and beside him was a particular guy.
My eyes pooped out of their sockets. The green-eyed boy?!
I was blinking over and over again trying to make sure that I wasn't seeing things, but he didn't disappear into the thin air, and worse of all, Mr. Owen was introducing him to the whole class.
"Hello. Everyone meet our new member. Adrain Lee"
I was lost in space, with eyes roaming over his painfully handsome frame and soon a huge frown was creasing in between my brows. The girls within the class were making some noises and some even going as far as to flash their flashes at him one of such was Heather.
I resisted an eye-roll. I was still trying to accept my unlucky reality when Mr. Owen muttered. "Where is the president?"
On cue, his eyes were falling on me. "Won't you give our new member a warm welcome?"
My gaze moved from the teacher to the green-eyed guy next to him and he was smirking.
