"Emma there is someone here to see you" her aunt shouts. She can smell the bacon from her room but she cannot move her throbbing head. She can also feel her stomach is a mess. She reaches for the painkillers in her desk and buries her head in her bed but her aunt keeps on shouting for her to wake up and it's worsening her headache.
"I am coming aunty" she finally finds the strength to speak. Who can that be? She wonders as this is her off day and she was not expecting anyone. She takes the painkillers and heads outside her room with her pajamas and glasses.
"I did not know you wear glasses" Doc Marcus said staring at her as if he had never seen her before. She wonders what he was doing here and as if he read her mind "I came to check if you were okay. It seems you had one too many to drink when I dropped you off yesterday" he said "what?" she mutters surprised. How did that happen? She wondered embarrassed to even look him in his face. The last thing she remembers was having the best sex of her life with a stranger who she never wants to meet again. How did he find me? What was I wearing? I never even got to see him in the party how comes he took me home and what happened?
Her face turns red and she could not believe her luck, the first time she had a one night stand she was taken home by her boss? To make things worse he had openly confessed his feelings towards her! What a classic irony she thought. What does he think of me now? Thoughts of all kind crossed her mind and she even forgot her hangover.
"Emma are you okay? Your aunt was just showing me photos of you when you were young." Marcus sipping the coffee her aunt had prepared for him. Aunt Judy had a liking for Marcus and always urged Emma to give 'her son' as she liked to refer to him a chance as she claimed he would give her beautiful grandkids.
"Are you going to stand there all day?" her aunt asks as she places a cup of sugarless coffee on the table for her. Aunt Judy always reminded her of her mother not only in their looks which you could hardly tell one from the other but also how caring and loving she was, aside from the constant shouting that she had not gotten used to even after spending a whole year with her.
"Thank you Marcus, I really appreciate you bringing me home". "It's nothing I could not leave you behind Emma you know that, right? After all, you were the one that invited me. Unfortunately, I have to head to work. Judy thank you for the breakfast as delicious as always". Marcus said charming her aunty even more.
"I should be the one thanking you my son for bringing her home, please come for dinner later tonight" aunt Judy requested. "I'll try to get off early today". He says bidding them goodbye as he left for work.
Immediately he stepped out of the door Emma rans back to her room and ringed Linda. "Hello! Linda are you awake? Please come over." She begged over the phone and in about one hour Linda arrived in her room all worried, she had received this kind of calls frequently from Emma when she had mental breakdowns when she had earlier arrived in the country but after some months the calls reduced and finally there were no more. This calls often made Linda worried as she knew her friend was not doing fine.
"Are you okay?" Linda moved to where Emma was lying and held her as she understood in this moments she needed someone to hold her before she was ready to talk.
