"What are you doing here? You never told me you were visiting. Is everything fine at home?" Marcus surprised to see his brother in the hospital. "Relax bro. I can't come visit my brother without making an appointment?" Kim chuckles as he can see the frustration in his brother's face. He knows his younger brother is very skeptical of being the center of attention and he even avoids using his surname which usually arouses attention unlike him who enjoys being in the spotlight.
"Let's go to my office everyone is staring at us" Marcus scoffs as he heads to his office. "How is dad and Grace doing?"
"You should go check-up on them yourself. Grace wants to see you before she reopens school. Seriously when are you going home? Everyone wants to see you. How much do they even pay you to be working all the time?" Kim scoffs agitated. He wonders what could be the reason his brother likes working in the hospital so much and sacrificing almost all of his life here. "You know dad wants to retire right? And he wants you to take over the hospital since you enjoy staying here so much."
"What? I thought he was retiring only in politics. You know pretty well this would make me the center of this rogue media and I don't like people following my life, this would completely ruin my life Kim. You know how the media likes riding on staff like this." Marcus says squeezing the pen his hand in agitation. Linda enters the room and hands him a patient's report. He thought Emma was the one to bring it to him but with the recent news he did not care.
"Who was that lady? She is beautiful no wonder you like wasting your life here." Kim jokes "Don't worry bro, after all you knew this time was coming. You cannot hide forever you are the minister's favorite son after all. You should be at home on Tuesday before twelve noon you know dad hates it when someone is late. Enjoy the surgery small bro, see you on Tuesday." Kim says while leaving the office.
Marcus always avoided using his father's name because everyone tends to act different around him when they know who he was. He had managed to build his life and career without favors from his father and that was one of his greatest achievements but his dad hated it but respected him for that. He tried to go through the report but his mind wondered all over and he could not concentrate.
"Where is Emma?" he asked the nurse at the reception. "Tell her to meet me in my office." He needed a distraction and who better than the girl he adored not only because of her beauty but her intelligence, he often wondered why she never tried to become a doctor with the amount of knowledge and dedication she had in the field.
"Why did you not bring the medical report yourself you know we have to go through some of the details with you, don't you?" Marcus mutters while looking through the report. "This patient was here last month why did no one bother to tell me about this?" He continued agitated.
"I am sorry Doc I had a small emergency but I was about to come immediately. The patient was here last month and was diagnosed with a different illness but after a month the illness persisted and after the recent check-up we found out he was suffering from stage one cancer." She said embarrassed on not informing him on the issue and worried he had known been informed of what happened the other night.
