When a martial practitioner attempted breaking through to the Sky realm, they would face a lightning tribulation known as the white lightning tribulation.
During the white lightning tribulation, the martial practitioner would suffer forty eight strikes of white lightning from the Heavenly Dao.
The forty eight strikes of white lightning would in turn become dao imprints that amplified battle strength.
Lu Zheng had already received a strike of white lightning, he still had forty seven strikes left.

Another bolt of white lightning struck Lu Zheng's body that made him shudder involuntarily all over.

Olina's twinkled as she replied: "This… I never knew"
Unknown to them, Lu Zheng had continued to absorb lightning and thunder energy from the bolts of white lightning to temper his body and cultivate.
Hence, he wasn't receiving bolts of white lightning for just fire path. Lu Zheng would suffer an extra forty eight bolts of white lightning for lightning path.
The Heavenly Dao was merciless as it rained bolts after bolts of white lightning at Lu Zheng in quick succession.
Themur was laying limply in fear and awe as he watched the one-sided onslaught.
Olina and the others were also astonished by Lu Zheng's resilience and willpower.
So far during the tribulation, Lu Zheng had not even let out a grunt or whimper from pain.
If the tribulation wasn't still on-going, they would have concluded that Lu Zheng was long dead.
They could still remember their own tribulations when they broke through to the Sky realm.
It was a horror filled with screams of pain.
After the ninety fifth bolt of white lightning, the lightning within the dark clouds stopped crawling around and the booming of thunder could no longer be heard.
"Is it over?" Alaka'i asked.
"No…" Kalani's tone was grave as he stared at the dark clouds.
The white lightning within the dark clouds began to congregate like they were being controlled by an entity.
In a matter of seconds, the white lightning bolts had transformed into a ram-like beast.
The ram-like beast was the size of an elephant and pure white lightning criss-crossed its massive body.
Two white horns that grew as far as the eyes could see protruded from its head like they wanted to stab the very heavens.
The aura of a rank five beast emanated strongly from the ram-like beast.
"Beast manifestation! A kirin!" Kalani exclaimed.
"Beast manifestation?" Olina looked at Kalani in confusion.
"When lightning path martial practitioners undergo lightning tribulation, the last bolt of lightning would transform into a lightning path beast that would attack them" Kalani explained calmly. "A friend of mine cultivates lightning path. When the beast manifestation occurred, he nearly lost his life to it"
"Can't we help him?" Olina asked.
"No, he has to face the beast himself or he would regret it for the rest of his life" Kalani said firmly.
"Hmph!" Launi snorted as he stared at Lu Zheng. He wanted to see how Lu Zheng would handle a rank five kirin.
For the first time in many hours, Lu Zheng's eyelids parted to reveal his pitch black pupils.
He stared coldly at the kirin in the sky as the fire Qi that swirled around him transformed into pure white lightning Qi.
"Come"
The kirin galloped in the sky as it approached Lu Zheng.
Despite the large distance between it and Lu Zheng, the kirin appeared right before Lu Zheng in a fraction of a second.
"Such speed!" Olina and the others were stunned.
The kirin was right in Lu Zheng's face when it struck the latter with an head-butt before transforming into white lightning that forcefully invaded Lu Zheng's body.
The white lightning from the kirin was on par with the entire lightning Qi a rank five lightning path beast core contained.
Thunder energy boomed rampantly to destroy Lu Zheng's organs as lightning energy charred his skin.
The vicious attack from the kirin was an attempt to end his life instantly.
Lu Zheng had Xue Ritian's entire knowledge regarding cultivation, he was prepared for this.
Sitting cross-legged, Lu Zheng used his own Qi to fight against the external energy that forcefully invaded his body.
[1] Dual path cultivation is when a martial practitioner cultivates two different paths as opposed to dual cultivation where two martial practitioners cultivate through sexual intercourse. Kalani is naturally referring to the former.
