It's been two months since Luki and Ace brought me to the base. In those two months, I quickly earned the title of Knight Feral due to my brutal nature with the zombies. I could sense on how their opinions of me changed, which wasn't really surprising. I wasn't going to stay the same. Two days after my first kill, Trauma-chan called me over to her station.
"The spear I gave you will be too weak to take on the tougher zombies, so I made you a better one. Do be careful though, it's quite sharp" She warned, handing me a better spear. I nodded and thanked her, before going over to Veto.
"Hey Veto, are there any tasks for me to complete?" I asked cheerfully. Veto smiled,
"Actually I do, I need you to go with Luki to get some more food and medical supplies. Normally I'd have Ace tag along with Luki, but since you've shown... efficiency, in surviving, I thought you could do your first mission." They explained. I nodded,
"Alright, when are we heading out?" I asked. Luki appeared behind me,
"Right now. We don't have any time to waste."
Luki led me out to the golf cart, thankfully with no zombies in sight. I loaded up emergency supplies as he started the engine.
"Hurry Feral, it's almost noon" He warned. I grimaced, while picking up the pace and then hoping in a seat. Noon was always the worst time to be out in the open. I had, unfortunately, learned that the hard way.
~Two days after I arrived at the Walmart~
I was bored. So extremely bored that I had the wonderful idea to sneak out of the base and explore. That was my worst idea ever.
"Ah shit. Hopefully back-up will be here soon" I grumbled, ducking and slashing a zombies face. Hands grabbed my shoulder and I quicked stabbed the thing twice, once in the heart, and once in the skull. Without hesitating, I made quick work of the rest. When Ace finally arrived with Luki and Veto, I was surrounded by unmoving decaying corpses, covered in zombie blood. Ace grimaced, before quickly lighting them on fire. Luki looked me over for an injuries, and Veto was looking for any more zombies. Or at least I think he was.
"You're so brutal, why?" Luki questioned, looking concerned. I gave him a guilty look. I didn't want him to ever know this side of me, but of course some things couldn't stay hidden.
"I've always been this brutal, I just hid it well. There were always signs Luki. Those moments of pure anger in some of my messages, my obsession with fire. This has just always been apart of me" I admitted, ashamed.
-present-
After about an hour, me and Luki arrived at the location. It was a house, clearly abandoned by it's owners. I quickly grabbed my spear, and stood in front of Luki, ready to fight. Luki rolled his eyes, but let me lead us inside. It was quiet, too quiet.
"This feels off... be on your guard Kiggi, I have a bad feeling about this." I muttered, stepping around a broken plate.
"Alright, well if the Knight of Trash Family Mafia says something's off, then things are about to get real" Luki replied, genuine. I grimaced, before halting and shushing Luki.
"It seems we aren't as alone as we thought" I whispered, peering into the trashed kitchen. Sure enough, there was a zombie. I silently crept up behind it, before brutally stabbing it in my normal spots, the heart and skull. Luki opened up his mouth to speak, but stopped when I gestured for him to be quiet. If there was anything I learned, it was that where there was one zombie, there was more. After making sure the coast was clear, I peeked my head into the living room, which was less trashed but still messy. Thankfully, there wasn't any zombies there, but I still felt like something was off with the entire house. "Kiggi, something isn't right here, call for backup" I ordered, keeping an eye on the entrance. I quickly went over and into the hallway, leaving Luki alone in the living room. My suspicions were confirmed when I stumbled across a hoard in the master bedroom. Well, it was actually just three, but that still counted as a hoard. Quickly, I stabbed the biggest one in the skull, before stabbing the others. Once they were all down, I did what I normally did and stabbed them in the heart. After I made sure the zombies were truly dead, and would stay dead, I relaxed. The nagging feeling of something being wrong was gone, and the house seemed safer. I quickly went back down to Luki.
"Everything alright Knight Feral?" Luki asked, worried since I left him alone.
"Yep, there was a small hoard in the master bedroom, but I dealt with them." I explained, before looking through the cabinets. I scowled, there was nothing but useless junk.
"Eh? Is something wrong?" Luki asked, peering over me.
"There's only junk in here. Whatever, I think I saw a clinic on our way here, we can raid that" I decided. Luki turned pale,
"A clinic? Feral, those are the most infested!" He exclaimed. I sighed, knowing he was right.
"How about this, you go back to the Walmart, and I'll head to the clinic. Don't worry about me. I can protect myself just fine." I reassured him. He looked skeptical, but agreed after enough pestering, on the condition he drive me there. Despite knowing that I needed to do this, I couldn't help but feel uneasy as we made our way over to the clinic.
"Hey Luki, if I don't return... don't cry over it." I smiled, watching the passing scenery. Luki frowned, but didn't reply. Soon, we finally arrived at the clinic.
"Little Kiggi, make it back safe, okay?" He asked. I gave him a soft smile, despite knowing I probably couldn't keep the promise I was about to make.
"I will, I promise" I lied. Luki smiled and gave me what I felt would be the last head pat I'd get in awhile, before he drove away. I dropped the smile and looked at the entrance of the clinic.
"Right. Let's deal with you."
