Olivia's POV:
"I am sorry Caleb, I never intended for things to turn out this way"
"I was at fault Olivia, I got angry and left you to deal with the situation…but you must understand me. I was heartbroken and never knew the man was a billionaire, so you had no choice but to do what he wanted" he explained with guilt, and a smile formed on my lips.
"So do you forgive me? And I promise you, I will find a way to end this marriage and we will be together again" I said with confidence, I was going to make Mr. Bennett divorce me at all costs.
"I trust you, let us meet tomorrow at our favorite café.." he said and I thought for a while before accepting, after all, I had nowhere to go tomorrow except to go and visit my father.
Now I was a jobless wife, all thanks to Mr. Bennett. Caleb and I spoke for a few minutes before he hung up, I felt happy knowing that he didn't hate me.
Will it be fair if I still pursue a relationship with Caleb when I am married to Mr. Bennett? My principles don't approve of that but he was my fiancé and will be my husband after I divorce Mr. Bennett.
So it wouldn't hurt if we continued hanging out, I was going to see him tomorrow and we could plan on how to get me out of this trap. I was going to marry Caleb at all costs.
I woke up the next morning late because I knew I didn't have work, actually what woke me up was the sound of an incoming call from my phone.
I placed my phone by my ear without checking the caller because I was still sleepy "Olivia Clarke, you are fired" Mr. Adams's voice echoed over the phone and It made me jump up from the bed frightened.
Oh my, how could he be the first person to talk to me today, this only means my entire day will be a mess.
He didn't even give me the chance to reply as he hung up, I sighed and walked down the bed angrily.
When I got to the sitting room, I found Natou going upstairs with a glass of water "Natou, is Mr. Bennett home?" I asked.
"Yes" she replied before leaving, why was he home at 9 am? Did he not have to be at the office today?
I walked back to the bedroom and decided to freshen up before making some breakfast for Dad, but before that, I decided to call Mother and ask how he was doing.
"Your father is fine, you shouldn't bother about him…and yes. He already had breakfast" Mother said and I frowned, she was my stepmother and had been the one taking care of me ever since I lost my mother at the age of 12. I know how much she loves my dad and me, but sometimes she makes me feel like I am a burden.
"Are you sure you don't want me to come?" I asked
"Yes, you should spend time with your husband since you recently got married," she said and I frowned "Later Mother" I hung up before throwing the phone on the bed, and to my biggest surprise it bounced off the bed and fell on the floor.
"Oh no" my heart raced as my phone's screen shattered, this wasn't good. I tried switching it on to no avail, why did I have to throw my phone that hard? Now I didn't have a penny and couldn't afford a phone, I can't believe I spent all my savings on my wedding with Caleb and it still got cancelled.
And now I was jobless, how was I going to live without a phone?
--
I was deep in thought when I heard a knock on the door "Come in" I said and Natou walked in.
"Mrs. Bennett, I wanted to ask for a favor," she said nervously and I glanced at her curiously, what type of favor could she probably want from me?
"I need to attend a friend's daughter's wedding in the south and my train will leave soon, can you make breakfast for Mr. Bennet?" she asked and I nodded.
"Of course, you can leave," I said.
"Also, could you take care of him? He is ill and doesn't like seeing a doctor" she added and I frowned, Mr. Bennett didn't go to work because he was ill. Could such a powerful man get sick, money doesn't buy health indeed.
"I understand" I replied and she left, with a worried look I walked upstairs to Mr. Bennett's room before knocking.
After several knocks but there was still no reply, I slowly opened the door and peeked inside the huge room.
I walked in and found Mr. Bennett sleeping on the bed and his body was covered with a grey duvet. He looked calm and handsome with his eyes closed.
He slowly opened his eyes and glared at me "Do you plan to kill me in my sleep?" he asked and my mouth widened in shock.
"Yes, so go back to sleep," I said sarcastically and he turned his face before going back to sleep.
"You should leave," he said and I didn't pay attention to his words as I walked closer and placed my hand on his forehead and he was burning up.
"You have a fever," I said with a worried tone.
"I will call a doctor," I said and turned to leave when I felt myself being pulled back and to my greatest surprise I fell on the bed with Mr. Bennett below me.
Our face was so close that I got nervous and was about to stand when he held my slim waist tightly "Don't call a doctor" he said.
"But you are sick," I said and he smiled.
"Do you care for me?" he asked and I clicked my tongue. Why would I care for a man who forcefully married me thereby ruining my life?
"I just don't want you dying on my watch, you can die somewhere else for all I care" I sneered and he frowned before loosening his grip on my waist.
"Then you should leave" he ordered before closing his eyes. Why was he being childish?
"Whatever" I stood up and walked out of the room.
I went downstairs with a frown, I still can't believe he was giving me an attitude even when I tried helping him.
