Olivia's POV:
Caleb's words were too much for me to digest. I wouldn't dare ask a penny from Mr. Bennett, and he expects me to ask such a huge thing? He helped my dad, and I still feel guilty for that. Now that I knew he was insane, I had completely lost my appetite.
I stood up angrily, ready to leave "Olivia." He held my wrist, and I pushed his hands away.
"When you fix your brain, then we will have a proper conversation." I sneered and stumped out. Was he crazy? He expects me to get a job for him.
The sun was so hot, but I had no choice but to walk since I didn't have money to get a cab. Then a car pulled up to me, and to my surprise, Mr. Adams walked down the car.
"Olivia Clarke," he called out, and I smiled sheepishly, so he could drive a car, and he kept asking me to drive him every time I was his secretary.
"Mr. Adams," I called when he walked closer to me.
"Why are you here?" he asked, and I glared around.
"Uhm, I… I came for a walk."
"Under such harsh weather?" He raised a brow, and I nodded.
"This is my favorite weather." The words immediately left my lips; I knew they were stupid.
"Come with me," he said, and I thought of refusing, but I needed a ride desperately. He walked in his car, and I walked towards the car when I realized he had parked wrongly and I was standing close to the road.
All of a sudden, a car drove past me at full speed. I got scared and lost my balance before falling down.
"Olivia," Mr. Adams walked down the car towards me; the car stopped before the driver ran towards me as well.
"Are you okay?" he asked, but Mr. Adams pushed him away.
"Get lost; are you blind?" He scolded me, and the driver gave me an apologetic look before leaving.
"I am fine." I stood up quickly before dusting myself.
"Watch your steps next time; I will drop you home," he said, walking me to the other side of the car, and like a gentleman, he unlocked the door for me.
So all it took for Mr. Adams to be a gentleman was for me to fall and almost get hit by a car?
The drive was silent, as we were ten minutes away from the mansion and an hour away from my parents place. I couldn't let him take me there. "Mr. Adams, here is my stop," I said, and he glanced at me, confused.
"Why?" he asked.
"I have to do some personal stuff," I said, and he nodded.
I opened the door to walk down when he grabbed my wrist. I glared at him, confused. "Take care," he said, and I felt my heart skip.
Not with excitement but with fear—why was he being kind to me?
I smiled vaguely before shutting the door, and he drove away.
**
After thirty minutes, I finally arrived at the mansion. I walked to the sitting room, and to my surprise, Mr. Bennett was on the couch with Bruno standing by him. When did he come back?
"Mr. President, what should we do?" Bruno asked, and he glared at him angrily before his gaze met mine.
I quickly turned to walk to my bedroom when a sharp voice echoed from behind me: "You."
I turned and saw a girl about nine years old. She had red cherry lips with a double ponytail, but unfortunately she was sitting in a wheelchair.
"Why are you here?" she asked, and I was confused.
"Orlene," Mr. Bennett called angrily. The kid rolled her wheelchair towards me.
"You are the girl who almost got hit by my driver, right?" she asked, and I thought for a while.
Oh, so she was in that car?
Mr. Bennett walked to me as he scanned my body. "Are you hurt?" he asked, and I shook my head in denial.
"Are you Coyle's girlfriend? Why are you here?" Orlene asked, and Mr. Bennett glared at me, confused. I smiled sheepishly, trying to brush the topic off.
"Uhm, of course not... So who are you?" I asked.
"Answer me first; you are with Coyle Adams now. Are you his girlfriend?" Orlene insisted, and I could feel the tension get heated.
"Haha, no… We met by chance." I laughed hard.
"Well, then who are you?" She asked, and I glanced at Mr. Bennett before crouching to the kid's level. "I am Mr. Bennett's slave," I said and she glared at me, confused.
"She is my wife." Mr. Bennett said angrily, and I rolled my eyes. The little girl's eyes widened in shock. "You are married? Is that why you stopped checking on me? How come no one at home knows that?" she asked in disbelief, and I nodded.
Her questions were right. "Bruno, take the young Miss to her room," Mr. Bennett ordered, and Bruno nodded before pushing the angry girl towards the elevator. Now I understood why they hired a maid and also fixed the elevator.
And I expected Miss Bennett to be an adult; I never knew she was such a cute girl. Standing in the sitting room with only Mr. Bennett was uncomfortable, so I quickly turned and walked to my bedroom. I was about to shut the door when it got stuck.
Mr. Bennett used his leg to block the door. I smiled nervously at him. He pushed the door and walked in before shutting it.
"Mrs. Bennett, where did you go?" he asked, and I swallowed hard.
"To get some personal stuff," I couldn't get nervous; otherwise, he would know I met with Caleb.
"I didn't see you coming back with anything personal," he replied, and I got speechless. He took a step towards me and another. I got nervous and took a few steps backward until my back hit the wall.
He placed a hand on my head, and his gaze was stuck on me. "You are my woman, not my slave," he said, and I blinked several times. I loved being humble, but why was this rough side of him suddenly cute?
I slipped off and tried escaping when he pulled me back with his hands encircled around my waist.
"Why did you meet with Coyle Adams?" he asked, and his face was dark from anger.
"I… I didn't meet with him; he decided to drive me back home," Isaid honestly.
"You are not allowed to get into a man's car if it's not me, understood?" he asked, and this was unbearable.
"Mr. Bennett, I will freshen up," I said and all of a sudden my stomach growled, signaling that I was hungry. He glared at my stomach before letting me go.
"Let's eat together," he said, and I nodded. After all, we had a deal. "And, its the company's anniversary in three days; come with me," he was not asking but ordering me.
I frowned when I remembered that in three days it was Caleb's birthday, and I wasn't a lady of high class, so why should I attend such a party?
"I can't," I replied honestly.
"Well, I wasn't asking," he said as he walked out of my room, and I kicked the air angrily. I picked my pillow before punching it.
"Mr. Bennett, you a*shole," I scolded angrily when the door pushed open and Mr. Bennett stood there.
He opened the door when I was about to throw the second punch, and now my hand was stuck in the air.
I dusted the pillow carefully before gently placing it on the bed. "Don't say nonsense to my sister," he warned before closing the door.
With a frustrated look, I stumped into the bathroom.
Minutes later, I was done freshening up and could feel the bones in my body relax. I cant believe I trekked that long to see Caleb, but he spouted such nonsense to me. It was frustrating that I didn't even have a penny in my name.
