Chapter 23.
With the help of the maids, the queen was taken to one of the nearby rooms. She was furious yet weak to react the way I expected. She let a tear drop yet I knew that her heart was weary and her eyes spoke of a long pain for a long time. It didn't just have to do with the news now.
It brought back memories from the past.
"Here, take this mother," I offered a cup of lime juice. She took it even though she was not looking in my direction.
When she took a sip, the door opened and Percival emerged. He was dressed elegantly in clothes worthy of a prince. I wondered if there was a change in the story. Why did he look like a royal prince all of a sudden?
I tried to ignore my silly thought. Maybe the king sent him here to stand in. I would rather die than to tie knots with Percival of all people.
"Percival?" Queen Elizabeth was on her feet with the hope that he was going to give her good news.
