Chapter 4 - 4_I am sorry

******************************

I got to the library and walked around the shelves, I wrote down a list of textbooks that could help me with the assignment and I was going around searching for them.

I had gotten three of them and it remained one. I saw the last textbook on shelf five(5) but it was way up, I tried reaching it several times but it was no use, I couldn't get it. I was about to give up when I felt a hot breath on my shoulder and I felt the presence of someone standing behind me, I froze and then I saw a hand reaching out for the book I was trying so hard to get. He took it with ease, I turned around and I almost had a panic attack and a heart attack when I saw Liam standing behind me, staring at me with his cold blue eyes and his piercing gaze.

I tucked my hair behind my ear and collected the book which he was handing over to me. I fought for a word to say since all the words had vanished from my head.

"Th...thank you," I said, but my voice came out like a squeak.

He tucked his hand back in his pocket and looked everywhere but at me, I could tell he had something to say but didn't know how to say it.

He cleared his throat "Uhm, I...I am sorry for what happened earlier today." he said but I barely heard his apology since I was filling my eyes with his beauty.

"Huh, oh...it's cool, I have nothing against you. You are a good person, I Know Charlotte made you do it." I found myself saying and then I bit my lower lip when I realized I had said too much.

Liam nodded and without a word, he turned away and left, I was still in awe at what just happened, did Liam just come up here to apologize to me?

I walked out of the library still in a daze until I bumped into someone, I looked up and saw Alex staring at me.

"We meet again," Alex said with a slight smile.

"Sorry, I didn't see you there," I said.

"Where are you heading, I can drop you off," Alex said pointing to his Aventador designed and produced by Lamborghini, which was one of the leading sports cars. And it was blue. I guess he loved blue.

"There's no need, Look my dad is here," I said pointing towards the car that sped through and stopped at the entrance of the school. I could see Alex's mouth open agape, they all knew I had a rich dad and I came from a rich home, but I didn't act like it. I preferred to act simply so that I wouldn't draw attention to myself.

"I'll get going no," I said and waved him goodbye before walking ahead towards Dad's car.

"Hey Angel, How was your day at school?" Mr.Whitlock asked and I sighed. I wouldn't want to worry him by telling him a video of me admitting I had a crush on the most hottest and popular boy in school had spread around the school's platform and I was currently hiding from everyone.

"Good dad, just great," I said with a smile while nodding my head nervously. Cherry came running towards the car with a smile on her face, She was holding her phone and I knew she was a blabbermouth.

"Dad, Dad, Ranell...." I covered her mouth with my hand and was greeted by Dad's confused gaze.

"Hehe, don't worry about her, let's just go," I said still smiling as Cherry kept on making muffled sounds. Why wouldn't she just shut up?

We got home and I was greeted by my pet wolf, Alpha. He was a wild but sweet animal, we took him in after we saw him wounded on a hike to the mountains, back then he was just a pup, but now he was as big as a bike.

"Hey Alpha, who's a good boy, yes you are." I said as I rubbed his belly.

We walked into the with Alpha trailing behind me.

"Welcome back, how was school today?" Madam Esther asked, She was our nanny, but also a mother figure to us, she was there even when I was born and grew up without having a mother. She was getting quite old, but she never stopped caring for us. Whenever I tried to picture my mother's face it was hers and father's I always saw.

"I'm starving." Cherry said holding onto Esther's hand and making puppy eyes. She was most vulnerable and acted cute when she was with Esther. I scoffed at her demeanor.

"Come this way, I prepared your favorite," Esther said as she walked towards the diner and we trailed behind. We saw the delicious food neatly placed on the table. Avocado fruit salad, Dumplings, white sauce, rice cakes and tomato sauce, fried fish, and crispy chicken. The delicious smell wift past our nostrils and I guess it wasn't only ours.

The doors flew open and Bea accompanied by Ed came in, their eyes went directly to the food and they hurriedly came to take a seat.

'When did they get here?' I asked myself inwardly.

"Papa came at the right time." Ed said licking his lips while Cherry shot cold glares at him. They never sat in the same room together, they were always mean to each other.

Bea on the other hand, sat beside me, she dug in and ate to her heart's content. I glanced at Dad and saw him smiling.

"Ok kids, I have an important meeting today so I'll be back late." He said checking the time on his watch.

"You're always back late," Cherry said rolling her eyes. He knelt to equal himself to Cherry's height and kissed her on her forehead.

"I'm sorry my love, I'm doing this so you all can have a great life." He said and after receiving a nod from her, like it was the permission he was waiting for, he stood up and left.

My mind went to my mother as I watched his departing back, How could she be so heartless? Who would leave a man as sweet as Father, she abandoned us. leaving Father to take care of me and Cherry. I didn't look like my father, and I hope as hell I didn't look like my mother too. I wouldn't want to resemble someone as heartless as she was. I hate her so much. At a point, I was thankful I was like this, at least that way I wouldn't have the slightest resemblance to her. since Father said she was slim and slender.

I suddenly lost my appetite just by thinking about her, I didn't realize I dropped my spoon harshly on the table and walked out.

"What's with her?" Edward asked, still stuffing his face in the food.
