Ranella was intrigued by the mysterious gestures, and her friends couldn't help but tease her about having a secret admirer. Little did she know, it was Liam behind it all. The anticipation of discovering the identity of her secret admirer made her heart race and fueled her curiosity.
The thought of having a secret admirer was enough for her to endure the cruelty of the magical school. Knowing someone liked her, even if he was a nerd, she wouldn't mind. All she wanted was someone who liked her.
Ranella sat at her spot in class, looking around at the boys who could be her secret admirers.
There were a lot of guys in the class, could it be Benjamin, Nope. He looked way too cool to like someone like her.
Semion? Nah, he was shy around girls,
The anticipation was killing her, whoever it was should reveal himself already.
Liam barged into the class, his hands buried in his pockets and his gaze staring directly at her as he walked towards her. Ranella's eyes widened when he grabbed her hand and pulled her along with him, leaving the classroom and walking in the hallway with students staring and murmuring gossip.
"What--what are you..."
"...Just shut up and follow me," He said, cutting her off. Ranella creased her brows when she was taken to the Dean's office at the west wing of the School.
"Good morning Miss Ranella," Old man Dean Andrew greeted as he laid back in his chair, relaxing.
"Good morning Dean Andrew," Ranella responded, glancing at Liam and then the dean. Why was she here, she had never been called to the Dean's office before, so why now, did he perhaps report her, she did nothing wrong, to him or anyone else, so why?
"I know you're confused and asking yourself why were you invited here," Dean Andrew said and Ranella nodded slightly, fiddling with her fingers again.
"Please have a sit, both of you," Dean Andrew said and Ranella cautiously sat down, while Liam sat on the seat next to hers.
"You might think the only thing that matters in Hidden High College is your ability and how to control them," Dean Andrew said and Ranella wondered where this was coming from, did they want to rub it in that she didn't have abilities?
"Well, sorry to disappoint you Liam, but not just your abilities matter, your grades also have some importance," Dean Andrew said and Ranella glanced at Liam, he looked embarrassed and anxious.
"Liam Rogers, your grades have been terrible from the start and if this continues we'll have no choice but to expel you from Hidden High College," Dean Andrew said and Ranella stood up abruptly.
"Expelled?!" She asked in shock as if she was the one going to be expelled, even the Dean jolted due to her abrupt action.
"Yes Miss Ranella, Liam Rogers will be expelled if he doesn't improve his grades," Dean Andrew said after taking a series of deep breaths to calm his beating heart down.
"So what does this have to do with me?" Ranella asked, sitting back down.
"I summoned you here, so he could ask you for a favor in person," Dean Andrew said, pointing to Liam. Ranella turned her gaze to Liam and this time he was the one fiddling his fingers in embarrassment.
"Uhm, Fatso..."
(Dean Andrew clears throat)
"Ranella, would you be--be kind enough to tutor me for the rest of the year?" Liam said and Ranella hiccuped, it seems she did not only hiccup when she was drunk but also when Liam talked to her.
"Huh?" She asked, making sure she didn't misheard him.
"Could you please tutor me for the rest of the year," Liam spoke out.
"But why me, His girlfriend Charlotte could tutor him, as much as I hate to admit it she's also smart," Ranella said to the dean, as panic gushed through her.
"We broke up," Liam said nonchalantly causing Ranella to gape at him for a short while before turning her attention back to the Dean.
"His brother, Alex takes second place in class, he should tutor him instead," Ranella said to the dean.
"He chose you to tutor him," Dean Andrew said.
"He chose me, why would he choose me?" Ranella asked the Dean.
"Because you top the class and it'll be better to be tutored by you," Liam said, he didn't seem embarrassed anymore and he was picking his fingers. Ranella bit her lower lip slightly with a from on her face, how was she going to concentrate on tutoring him?
This was bad, really bad. "Please excuse me, I need to use the restroom," Ranella said and the Dean nodded, giving her permission to leave.
Ranella, with a nervous smile, walked out of the office hastily, and as soon as she was out, she ran through the hallway, ignoring the stares from others. As soon as she was about to get out of the campus building through the back exit of the school, she halted like a car with sharp breaks when she saw Liam standing in front of her laying there, with his back on the wall.
"How..."
"Where do you think you're going?" He asked, seeing the horrified look on her face, he wanted to laugh, but he didn't want to lose his composure in front of her.
"We are not done yet," He said, taking slow strides towards her while she stepped back, her back hit the wall and he slammed his hands on the wall, trapping her in his armcage, causing her to jolt and bite her lower lip slightly, not knowing how seductive it may seem.
Liam leaned in closer to her face. Thankfully, there was no one on this side of the campus at this hour, or else rumors would have spread like wildfires by now.
"Do you want me to be expelled, I thought you liked me," Liam said with a smirk. Ranella was having trouble breathing, being close to him like this was doing things to her, she thought she had grown fond of Alex and had lost interest in Liam but why was her heart racing this fast?
"I--it's not like I want you to get expelled, but I can't tutor you, you should choose--choose someone else!" She said.
"I don't want to," He said.
"Why?"
"Because I like you," Liam said and Ranella's heart accelerated. Her pupils dilated and his words kept echoing in her ears.
"The--the letters..."
"Yes," He said and she felt weak in the knees, she held the wall for support so her weight would not succeed in pulling her down.
"So, would you tutor me, or do you want me to..."
"... I'll do it, I'll tutor you," She said, cutting him off before he said something more that would make her heart explode. But this was worse, she agreed to tutor him now she had to face him every day, how was she going to recover from this?
"Where should we meet?" He asked with a smile.
"The School Library," She replied, remembering that was the place he apologized for saying mean words to her.
''Great!" He said and flashed another heart-stopping smile before he pulled away and left with his hands back in his pocket. Ranella collapsed, her legs finally gave in, his words 'Because I like you' kept echoing in her head. Liam was the one sending the letters and the snacks, and he even complimented her.
She couldn't believe it, was the universe compensating her for being so cruel? Now that she found out who her secret admirer was, she didn't know what to do or the action to take.
The bell rang and the students went to that side of the building, the school's back exit, they had changed into their sports outfits, They were ready for P.E. They looked at her like a weirdo and they were whispering things into each other's ears.
"Why is she sitting down there like that?"
"She looks like she just saw a ghost,"
"I pity her," They said.
