Chapter 3 - The richest dwarf

Fithrin walked to the town center from

his lavish home. As a close aide of the king, he was able make a lot of money. He was accompanied by two other dwarves with axes. As his carraige was under work, he had to walk on this particular day. A group of hunters jumped down from rooftops and beat the two dwarves to a pulp. Please leave me alone, said Fithrin. Do not take my life, he said. I will not, said a hunter and knocked him unconscious. They carried the rich dwarf into a broken down carraige and rode to one of the settlements hidden deep in the forests. Akravan who was himself hiding in the rooftops saw this transpire and ran into the kingdom. Sir, he said. He had just grown into a man then, 22 years of age. He sold information for money like a lot of young men tried to do in the dark age. But no one was good as him except Borhtir who was a year older to him. Sir, he shouted and entered the palace. What is going on son? asked a dwarf of importance. The hunters, he said as his lungs were giving up. Speak up son, said the older dwarf. The hunters have kidnapped Fithrin, he said. The dwarf was shocked and stumped. This was the first time a dwarf of such stature has been kidnapped over a century. Ring the bell, he said to the guard as he ran towards Brogovin. Sir, said Akravan. What? asked the dwarf as he turned back. My money! he said. Some other day, said the dwarf. Akravan was angry yet helpless. He could not do anything about it. He walked away as he saw Borthir enter the palace as well.

The carraige rode in to the forests as some hylin stopped them. What are you doing? they asked the hunters. Nothing, replied the hunters. You have kidnapped a very important person, said the Hylin furiously. We need the money, the hunters said. The hylin put an arrow through all of them. Fools! she said and told the rest of the hylin to put them in the carraige. Get the dwarf out! she said. Let us take him back home, she said. As the hylin were doing the job, the horsemen. A couple of them surrounded them and questioned them. What are you doing? they asked them. Nothing, replied the hylin. But as soon as they saw the dwarf, they got down from the horses and tried to attack them. A huge fight ensured but ultimately the horsemen were killed and the hylin emerged victorious. We need to burn them, said a hylin. No, let us bury them all, the hylin said. None of that shall happen, the senior hylin said. We put them all in the carraige and burn them. As they did what was intended, the horses started to run away. Shoot them! said the hylin as arrows pierced both the horses. We need to move from here! the elder hylin said with fear in her eyes. More will come! she said.
