Chapter 37 - Ch 37: Farewell [pt2]

'Stupid. Why did you ask a question that would cause you more trouble? You know how Elias feels about you. And yet, you still dared to ask him this question.'

Rachael looked at the sky and waited for Elias to mock her. But Elias had gone quiet, and only breathing sounds could be heard.

Finally, Elias spoke, and his voice sounded a little nasally. It was almost as if Elias had been crying.

"You want to know when I will come back? Well, I am not sure about that either. It may take a few years. But you can always call me, and I will help you."

It made Rachael feel better, but she did not tell Elias.

"Hump! As if I care about you or your help. I can take care of myself just fine. I was just worried about you. But now I can see that I do not need to be worried about you."

Elias laughed harder at Rachael's words. His voice radiated joy, and Rachael could hear it on the phone.

It made her pout, but she could not fault Elias for thinking of her as a fool.

'Ah, I will just let it slide this time. He did buy me a new phone, so this is the least I can do for him.'

Rachael sighed before her phone beeped. Elias had cut off the call and left her hanging.

It worried her, but she was sure she would know why it was necessary. Otherwise, she needed to concentrate on her life more.

'I also need to figure out what to do with my schooling situation. My school is all but closed now. How am I going to get my education?'

...

Emily felt her heart sink as she stood before her monster's door. The locked door told her that she was in for a bad time.

"Emily, choose your words carefully. Master Rocx is not in a good mood. He might get angry at you or even hurt you if you are not careful."

The head maid informed Emily, and her voice invoked no confidence in the maid. Emily looked at the door and waited for her demise.

It only took a minute for the door to open. But once it did, Emily swallowed her saliva and entered the room.

Rocx Chlorance sat in the main chair, and his cold eyes looked at Rachael. His silent face was cold, and it made Emily shiver.

"Emily, don't you have something you want to tell me?"

The atmosphere of the room became scary once Chlorance opened his mouth. His eyes told Emily she was in for a troublesome time, and she did not want that.

"I-Is this about the dungeon opening inside Rachael's school? I-I am sorry, but I did not know about it until a few minutes ago. But if you give me more time, I will get you all the information you want."

Emily had yet to learn what and how she would gather all the necessary data. But she knew that she needed to get it. Otherwise, her life would be in danger.

"A dungeon opening in that demon's school? I was not aware of it!"

Rocx did not sound shocked, but Emily could read her master. The fact that he had commented on this showed how shocked he was.

"T-That's right! It happened yesterday, but the students have been kept in custody until now. I tried to force the truth out of Rach-I mean, that demon's mouth, but she refused to speak up."

Emily spoke with a fearful voice. But inside, she was feeling lucky. She had managed to distract her master from what he had been angry about.

'Now I just need to get Rachael to open her mouth and give me something to reply with. I will prove to Master how resourceful I am, and he will call me back to work for him.'

"No. There is no need to head out of your way and do something so stupid. I also do not trust anything from that demon's mouth. I will be conducting my investigation into this field."

Rocx looked at Emily, making her nervous to look at her master.

Was this not what her master meant when he asked her for the information regarding Rachael? What else could she have not reported back to him about?

"I am sorry, master. But I don't think I understand what you are asking me about. What kind of business have I not told you ab-"

"Don't joke around like this! I asked you to report everything that happened to that demon. But you failed to report to me about her involvement with the Dark Matter."

'Dark what-?'

Emily was confused when she heard her master's words. She had heard about Dark Matter since they were famous. But she had never heard Rachael talk about them.

She only knew of Rachael's encounter with young master Elias. But that had happened in the Chlorance estate. And Emily had no power over that encounter.

"I…am sorry, but I do not understand what I am being asked here. Did something happen with Young Master of the Dark Matter? I am sure his only encounter with Rachael was when he was in the Chlorance estate a while back."

Emily informed her master, but she looked confused on the inside. She was not sure why her master was making a big deal out of things.

"Wait! They both met? Why did no one inform me of this? Moreover, why did no one try to stop them both from meeting? I specifically ordered not to let them meet."

Rocx Chloracne sounded angry. His anger made Emily take a step back, and her confidence lowered. She did not know what she did wrong. But there must be something that happened.

Besides, it was not her fault. She was not in charge of the children that day, so she had just learned after everything had ended.

"I cannot fault you for what happened either. It was not all your fault that this news did not reach me. The other servants should have taken care of things for me."

Rocx rested his aching head on his palm.

"M-Master, one meeting is insufficient for two people to get close. Young Master Adrian and Miss Young Rose were there as well. I am sure nothing happened."

Emily assured, and Rocx relaxed.

"I am sure of that as well. I just cannot understand why the dark matter would interfere with a dungeon trip that had Rachael in it. It doesn't make sense."

Rocx sounded annoyed with what he knew. He looked at Emily for answers, but she could not answer him.

And even if she could, it would have been better for Emily not to answer him this time. But the more time Emily remained quiet, the more her master got angry at her.

"Maybe it is because of the helper program? I heard the local school had a system where older students from other schools volunteer. Maybe Elias volunteered for it because he got to know about Rachael?"

Emily tried to propose something that made sense to her.

As soon as she finished speaking, she could see her master thinking.

"Hmm, that is possible. I forgot all about it until now. But it is possible that he wanted to ask for Rose and accidentally found Rachael's school. Tsk, a kid would always remain a kid after all."

'Huh? Why would anyone think of Lady Rose and confuse her with Rachael? Then again, hair color can be confusing, and people like to gossip about untrue things.'

Emily was beginning to understand what her master was saying. It made her feel sorry for Elias. He did not know he was looking after the wrong young lady.

"You can go back now. I have clarified the misunderstanding so that you can return now. You can head back now. But next time, do not hide anything you know and immediately report it to me."

Rocx Chlorance finally let Emily leave. She was sick and tired of seeing his face. She was more than happy to head out and collapse in her bed.

'Ah, but I should get as much information as possible. I should also start looking for alternate schooling places for Racheal to stay at. Maybe one of the boarding schools would be a good place for her?'

As soon as Emily thought of it, she felt like she had hit a jackpot.

She had not admitted Rachael into a boarding school because Rachael had been too young before. People would have questioned Emily if she had made such a decision.

But now things were different. Rachael was approaching her ninth birthday and could also care for herself.

It was finally time for Emily to be free of Rachael.

There were quite a few options for Rachael to choose from, but she chose the cheapest option. It saved her money and time to look around for better things.

'Now I need to go and tell Rachael what I have decided. Usually, boarding schools don't allow mid-session transfers, but this one accepted Rachael as soon as I processed her application.'

Emily did not find it odd how the boarding school needed nothing more than an application form and an invoice to admit Rachael. She was just happy to be rid of the girl finally.

"Hey Rachael, guess what surprise I have for you? I resolved your education problem."

Emily skipped into the building and immediately headed toward Rachael's room. She slammed the door open and looked at Rachael.

Rachael was surprised at Emily's enthusiasm, but she decided to let Emily continue. She wanted to know what Emily had cooked up now.

"So, I looked for schooling options and found one that accepted you on short notice. I will take you there tomorrow, so pack your stuff."

Rachael was surprised to hear Emily's words.

'Ah, has the time finally come? Has Emily decided to send me to a boarding school? I did not think she had the guts or funds to do so.'

Something smelled wrong, but Rachael decided to give Emily the benefit of the doubt. She would see what kind of place Emily had found for her.

But first, she needed to ask one question.

"Are you sure you are allowed to send me away?"
