"Father, I do not want to leave my current school and attend boarding school. Let me remain at my current school. Please! I will do anything."
Rose had tried everything to change her father's mind regarding her current situation. She had a comfortable lifestyle where she was getting everything she desired. There was nothing she would exchange it for instead.
And then her father dropped the bomb on her head. Not only did Rose have to change school, but she also had to go to a boarding school. She could feel her life ending in front of her eyes.
"Calm down, Rose. It's just a change in our schools. You will make new friends soon and forget all about your previous friends."
Adrian knew his sister well. He knew she was making a fuss because she would not have anyone to listen to and adore her—the academy they were being sent to prevented personal maids from accompanying the children into the school. The children were indeed left alone in there.
They even had to do their work themselves. It taught them to be independent and strong. Adrian understood that concept, and he respected it as well. But it was too much to comprehend for his dear younger sister.
She was rotten, spoilt by the people around her and had grown up arrogant.
"B-But, I cannot. I will have to stay away from home and follow a uniform code. This is not fair."
Rose complained. This was the same complaint other children had at her age. But Rose would not be happy to hear this comparison if Adrian made it.
'I should let Father handle this mess. He was the one who brought up this topic in the first place. He should also be the one to finish this conversation.'
Adrian had heard about the academy and it's incredible reputation. Everyone was fighting to get into it. To get into the academy was to have a secure future.
"Rose, I will not hear anything about it. It's an incredible opportunity for you to have a promising future. Are you going to throw it away?"
Rose stepped back when she saw her father getting angry at her. This was the first time Rose had seen her father this angry.
"Mother, father is getting angry at me and forcing me to change schools. I do not want to change schools. Mother, please say something to father. I do not want to change schools."
Rose turned toward her mother for support. But her mother turned her head away. Her mother was against her this time as well.
"Tsk, none of you understand me anyway. I do not want to talk to you."
Rose cried before she ran out of the room. No one paid her much attention since they were too used to her temper tantrums.
"I will go and bring Rose back. She is misjudging her situation, but I think I can discuss this topic with her."
Adrian was a responsible elder brother. He wanted to help Rose understand that this decision was made for her benefit. He ran out of the room after Rose and caught her before she reached the stairs.
"Rose, wait a minute. I need to tell you something…"
But Rose did not listen to Adrian. If anything, his voice made Rose panic even more, and she slipped on the stairs. Adrian's body moved on its own. He grabbed Rose and closed his arms around her.
The pair fell down the stairs and landed harshly at the landing.
The servants on duty panicked and quickly rushed to help their young masters. Nothing was broken, and no one looked overly injured. But it was impossible to guess the extent of their injuries externally.
"Hurry up and take the children to the medical wing. What do you think you all are doing? Can I not leave anything to you people?"
Sherry ran out of the room and into the hallway once she heard the crashing noise. She was afraid that something significant had happened to her kids. And her fears turned out to be true.
The maids picked up the kids and quickly deposited them on the bed. Sherry watched this happen with a muted expression on her face. Her eyes were shaking with rage and fear.
Sherry wanted to blame someone for this accident. But no one came to mind when she started pointing fingers.
No one except herself and her husband.
"Rocx, is it our fault? We should have listened to Rose when she said she did not want to attend the academy. We should have considered her feelings a little more."
Tears struck Sherry's eyes as she considered what else she could have done. But nothing came to her mind.
"Don't worry, Sherry. I am sure that it is not our fault. We were both a little blind with greed and annoyance once we heard that the devil has been selected to attend the special course this year."
"We both did what we consider the best for our children. Let's not worry about it too much. I am sure our children will be alright once they wake up."
Rocx was sure that his children would wake up soon. They had to wake up and assure Rocx that they were alright.
.........
Rose's head hurt. It felt as if someone was hammering her head and making it ring. Her vision was blurry when she opened her eyes, and the first thing Rose noticed was how everything towered over her body.
It was a bit much to say that everything was towering over her, but it was undoubtedly taller than it was supposed to be.
'That stupid cursed tree and it's cursed mission. What do you mean you will allow me to correct my mistakes? I did not do anything wrong in the first place! Do you even know who I am? I am your fucking goddess! You cannot do this to me.'
Rose wanted to yell out loud, but her throat was parched. She opened her mouth, but no sound came out.
"Oh, so you are finally awake, Miss Rose. No, don't try to stand up now. Your body is weak, and you need all the support you can get. Don't move around much because your body will ache."
Rose moaned when she heard the doctor speaking to her. She wanted to attract the doctor's attention and ask him where she was. But the doctor ignored Rose's attempts to gain her attention.
Instead, the doctor went around Rose's bed and checked up on the patient lying on the other side of her. Rose had not even realised she had company in her bed.
Her first instinct was to kick the intruder out of the bed. Rose had been the holy maiden her whole life and had not shared her bed with anyone. Not even her finance had the privilege of being her bedmate.
So, what kind of degenerate person was sharing her bed right now?
"Lady Rose, please calm down. You will throw Lord Adrian off the bed. If you want a bed, I will transfer you over. But please, you need to calm down."
The doctor was begging Rose to calm down. Rose did not want to calm down. But it was in her best interest to not cause any trouble.
'I should gather information first before I make any move. I need to figure out where that blasted tree sent me. And what do I need to do here?'
The sacred tree had been acting weird since Rose's fiancé disappeared. And now she was being sent to places she had no connection with.
"Rose, you are finally awake. Thank God you are awake. I was afraid that something would happen to you. That fall was a bad one, but you had no injuries. Are you alright? Does anything hurt?"
Rose blinked and looked up. The face looking down at her was familiar. She did not have to think much to connect that face to her 'mother.'
Once that thought stuck with her, other memories flooded Rose's mind. Slowly, the mission she had been assigned and the thing she had to do became clear to her.
'So, I have a step-sister, who is not my sister, but somewhat like a sister and the solution to a big problem we will have in the future. I need to save her and keep her alive until it's time. It's all too complicated. My head hurts.'
Rose had never been good at thinking things through. She had always been someone who did things by brute force.
It would have been so much easier for Rose if she could also solve this situation with brute force. But she needed to be careful about this situation.
"I will go bring you water. Rose, let me know if you need anything else."
Finally, her mother left Rose alone. Adrian chose that moment to wake up and met Rose's eyes.
Rose remembered how Adrian usually looked. And his current look was different from the one he usually had when he addressed Rose.
"You! Who are you, and what do you want? If you refuse to get out of my brother's body, I will be forced to take drastic measures. Do you understand?"
Rose threatened the imposter using her brother's body, and Adrian instantly raised his hand.
"I…never realised how sharp you were during our childhood. Or rather, you are not my sister, Rose, right? Before you ask me who I am, I want you to tell me your identity. If you are here, then where is my real sister?"
The siblings had a standoff. Both were unwilling to back down from their staring contest.
But Adrian stepped back first since he did not want to cause Rose any trouble. He loved her too much to allow any annoyance to occur to her.
"Fine, I will tell you. I am Adrian, but not the one you know. I travelled back thirty years in the future to prevent the tragedy that was about to occur. Now, tell me who you are?"
Adrian demanded, and Rose took in a deep breath.
"What a coincidence. I am Rose from another dimension, and I was sent here to prevent a disaster from occurring. What are the chances?"
