Chapter 37 - Battle Of The Sleeping Serpent Pass 4

In the sleeping serpent pass, a huge battle was raging on.

The Moonshade Sect forces tried to break the bearer put up by the Purple Qilin Cavalry, whiles the cavalry only defended by standing tall to the attacks.

Gu Shang by this time had killed so many of the elites and elders with just his golden bow. That bow was a dangerous weapon, whoever it targeted couldn't move an inch and would just stand there in a daze before they were pierced by the arrows.

The surprising thing about that bow was that it didn't discriminate among it's target, whether they were supreme sovereigns or even elemental gathering cultivators, all would die when pierced by the arrows fires from the bow.

Gu Shang turned his target to a big man who was smashing the shield with his large long sword. Gu Shang aimed at him and pulled the string, before letting go.

The left grand elder was frenzyly smashing his weapon on the bearer when his entire body froze on the spot, cold sweat began to bath him as he felt goosebumps on his skin.

He could smell the scent of death approaching him. He gritted his teeth and with a loud roar broke himself from his daze state.

He quickly swung his sword infront of him, and blocked an arrow made of spiritual Qi. The arrow dispelled after it was successfuly blocked, but the wave of energy it sent out sent the elder flying.

The left grand elder body smashed a large boulder, breaking it into dust. He coughed out blood as his muscles slumped down.

That insignificant arrow actually had the power to threaten his life, that was scary for someone like him.

He practiced the [True Deity Body], this technique made his skin as tough as steel. His defense was literally impenetrable, he could boast that apart from bona fide immortal kings nobody had the ability to even graze his skin, but he almost lost his life to this arrow without it making direct contact.

As he was still lying in the rubles of the boulder, a tingling sense of danger rang through his body, his hair stood on end and he felt the same goosebumps again.

"Oh Crap!" The left grand elder roared and got back up, he reacted quickly and grabbed one of the disciples and threw him at the approaching arrow.

The arrow exploded the moment it pierced through the disciple, the body of the disciple fell down in pieces.

Poor soul didn't even know how he died.

Gu Shang was surprised, that old fatty was really vicious, using his own forces as meat shields.

Crack..Crack..Crack

"Hahaha, Keep pushing! Keep pushing! We are almost there!" The right grand elder shouted excitedly, victory was within reach.

Cracks began to appear on the bearer, it couldn't hold the attack for long, it was going to break soon.

"Begin the second stage of the attack!" Gu Shang commanded loudly before putting his golden bow away.

"Spears up.. spears up.. spears up!" The first emissary gave the command.

It was time for those on the second line of battle to enter. They all raised their spears and thrust it forward.

The rectangular shields opened up a little space within them for the spears to pass through it and fit perfectly.

In front of the bearer, the disciples were still banging on it, when spears came out of nowhere and stabbed them to death before retracting.

The disciples behind who saw the gruesome scene wanted to move back, but there was little space to do so because the place was crowded by thousands of disciples wanting to break through the Purple Qilin Cavalry defenses.

"What is the best form of defense!?" The third emissary shouted towards the soldiers.

"A swift offence!" The soldiers all shouted the reply.

"Then began the second attack formation, Advance!!" Gu Shang ordered loudly.

The defense line started pushing their shields forward, whiles the second defense line kept pushing and retracting their spears forward. The two lines were working in a perfect synchronization as they began to march towards the enemies.

The Moonshade Sect forces were being pushed back as many of them fell at the frontline. The others who saw this kept taking a step back.

You couldn't blame them, the pass was very narrow and could only fit at least fifty people walking side by side, but there was a large force in this narrow pass stuck in the middle, whiles the enemies pushed them back from the exit with their spears and impenetrable shields.

"No.... No don't fall back, keep moving!" The right grand elder ordered.

"But..but...the enemies are advancing on us and we can't break their bearer!.." An elder said defiantly.

But before he could even finish, his head was looped off by a flying whip

The right grand elder scanned the crowd and asked

"Anybody else want to fall back?" They all shook their heads.

"Come to your senses, you fools. We are surrounded by a poisonous dome, the exit is the only way out. Can't you morons see that they are pushing us towards the poison.

There's no retreat or surrender for us, our only path left is to go forward. Anyone who chooses otherwise would die here!" The right grand elder said viciously.

The disciples swallowed hard, but they knew the Grand elder was right.

Their only path to survival was onwards, they steeled their resolves and charged toward the approaching shields again.

The march of Gu Shang troops came to a stop, the attack of the enemy forces had increased several times than before.

Most of the spears being used by the second offense line had all been dealt with by the enemies.

....

Gu Shang got down from his horse, "It's time for the infantry to move, I'll personally lead them" Gu Shang said.

"Yes general!'' The fourth emissary bowed her head, before turning to the infantry. They all took round shields hiding underneath their capes and held it with their left hand whiles they unsheathed their swords.

"We are engaging the enemies directly, my only command is don't die!" Gu Shang said as he took one of the golden swords on his dragon horse and unsheathe it.

"Yes general!"

"Our target it to ease the pressure on the frontline for our troops, don't go behind enemy lines" Gu Shang added.

After saying that Gu Shang started floating on the ground, whiles lightening cracked around his body and the surrounding.

The sword he was holding was laced with lightening around the edges, and it was increasing as time pass.

"[Wrath Of The lightening Sword] It's been a while since I used this technique" Gu Shang muttered to himself.

"First Form, divine punishment of light" Gu Shang said silently.

....

In front of the defense line, things went silent as the Purple Qilin Cavalry stopped their march and retracted all their spears.

They enemy forces couldn't see what was going on behind the defense line of the Purple Qilin Cavalry, but they had a bad premonition because their hair stood up on end all of a sudden.

Just then, the soldiers lent down their shields and a white figure jumped almost forty meters into to sky with with a sword sizzling in lightning.

The figure began to drop to the ground rapidly, lightning cracked around the entire sleeping serpent pass as if judgement day had arrived whiles loud thunderous sounds were heard.

Thummmm... Thuuuuuum

Gu Shang pupils had completely turned to the colour of white, along with his silver hair and white robes, he looked like the god of lightening.

The moment Gu Shang landed on the ground, silent fell on the pass for a microseconds before waves of lightening splashed forward like an atomic bomb.

Arc's of lightening moved like mini dragons 200 meters forward along the pass, causing a magnificent scene. It looked as if the place had become a sea of lightning for a few moments before another explosion sound was heard.

Dust of clouds rose to the sky obstructing everyone's view.

After the dust settled, the only person left standing was a man in white robes. Lightening flashing across his silver hair and skin, with a golden sword in his hands.

In front of him lay an empty space of 200 kilometers, the previous crowded people who occupied the space were all gone nowhere to be seen. Only the two grand elders remained but they weren't doing so well. Their whole bodies had been burnt.

They were all standing there with little piece of clothes on their burnt bodies and had all beome bald.

Gu Shang pointed his sword forward and ordered his infantry to charge at the remaining troops. Their number was certainly below hundred thousand.

The Moonshade Sect forces lost all hope and moral after that devastating move by Gu Shang, which had taking more than a hundred thousand lives, how were they supposed to defeat that monster?

The two grand elders were severely injured and knew they had lost, they were now left with less than 70,000 men who had lost all moral to fight.

"Retreat!" He gave the order weakly.

Just then the left elder ears perked up, "Are this the sounds of dragon horses?" He turned back and used all his remaining strength to concentrate on the entrance of the pass.

The entrance of the pass was blocked by black gases so they could not see what was happening beyond the gas.

Dragon horses emerged out of the black gaseous poison, mounted on the horses back were soldiers in black armor wearing purple capes, with a helmet with ponytails along with golden masks.

They held purple flags which had the Purple Qilin drawn on it. The insignia waved in the winds majestically as the cavalry galloped towards them.

When the enemy forces saw the majestic arrival of the Purrple Qilin Cavalry, all they felt was,

Dispair.....
